Peeling Back the NSX Onion

So I pack the Mrs--our critters (Skruggs and Dudley) and off we go to pick up the NSX. Barney is out of town so Dustin preps and delivers. We do a quick 5 min test drive---I pay him and we're ready to head back. Love muffin follows me back out to Rt 12 on our way to 155. About a mile or two down the road I notice this little vibration---it is in the steering wheel and in the seat. It seems to come on around 50 or so and gets worse till you hit 70 where it start to fade. I figure cold tires and drive some more. On 155 it gets a lot more noticeable. Go a little further then I call Barney who is in California---"did you remove any wheels in the TB/WP service?" Barney says the pass rear but Dustin reinstalled it and torqued down the bolts. So I pull over and check all the bolts, tire pressure, visual check of tires---nada. Everything looked OK. He says sometimes when you remove the pass side motor mount to do the TB/Wp service you can get the motor cocked just a bit and if so, he would drive up to my place to help me get it fixed. So I drive some more---got to make a decision---nurse it home or bring it back and head back home. If I shift the car into neutral, the vibration continues so I think it's in the drive line ---tires, wheels, axle, bearings, differential, etc. I decide to drive the car home. Within an hour or so I am regreting this decision as the vibration is hurting my back, my kidneys, etc. So I kick it up to 75 and tell love muffin to stay back about a 1/4 mile in case a tire blows. 4 hours later I pull in the driveway feeling like I lost a fight with George Forman but lasted 15 rounds!!
Take some pain pills, look at a shop manual, wonder about motor alignment---.
About 3 weeks ago I had bought a set of 5 spoke Boyd wheels and tires from Brian up at Source1--SourceNSX in Cinci. So this morning I do the change over. I removed the stock wheels with the Bridgestone tires (maybe 30% worn) and install Brain's wheels. First the back--then tried out the car---90% of the problem GONE. Then the fronts--100% of the vibration gone. How can seemingly good tires go bad as they ran fine before I took the car to Tenn??? Don't know, don't really care at this point.
So--that SOB Murphy is still around screwing with me! At least I have THAT problem behind me for now. Thanks to Barney for taking on the job when his knee was huring----Special thanks to Dustin--Barney's right hand guy for doing all the wrenching with Barney looking over his back---and a VERY SPECIAL thanks to Brian up at SourceNSX for putting me into some nice 5 spoke wheels and GOOD tires.
End of story---sorry trip pictures---time for some more pain killers!!

check the wheel to see if a counter weight fell off.

Probably just need to balance the tires.

BTW - we quite often refer to the significant other as the "Wife Tax". You will figure that one out soon enough.

Good end to the story - I'd have the new wheels and tires balanced and take the old ones in too! That's all it is. Classic description of balancing. My guess.
