Does it have super low miles or something? Trying to figure why it would be a $70k car to someone? I mean, I love NSXs, and the Zanardi is great, but that is a lot of money, and just curious why the premium over other Zanardis that have sold on here for in the $50s?
Just a couple of comments and my theory.
1) The car I purchased has ~12,500 miles and is literally in mint condition. It looks like a 12 year old new car. Low mileage vehicles are commanding a premium regardless if it is a Zanardi.
2) Since my search began about a year ago for a clean car, I have found that most of the examples available that I would consider buying are fairly pricey. In my case the vehicles I was interested in had a limited number of owners, no paint work, low miles and up-to-date maintenance. Others will have different reasons for selecting a vehicle. Back in 2009 when I sold my first NSX I got some grief for the price. Fast forward to today it would have been a bargain considering the quality of parts on my previous car....again my opinion. Hell even extremely high mileage cars are going in the low twenties.
Given overall US production numbers, the limited number of clean cars remaining/available with low miles and the slow aging look of the NSX, they will always command a premium. We'll see what happens if Honda decides to build a NSX replacement similar to the original. Nothing so far and the company appears to have taken a different direction entirely.
