"Official" Zanardi Thread...

Wow congrats to the new owner! That was a great price for a mint Zanardi and not as high as one would expect...

This has now set the pricing although I suspect private sellers would want more.

Thanks.

You could not be more wrong with the pricing being set. Not after this experience. Story to follow. Jumping back on a plane.

Very stressful morning and the ink is dry.

Congratulations on your purchase. Being a big Alex Zanardi and Indycar fan, I'd sell my GN and NSX for a Zanardi.......you never know what I may own in the next year or so.:wink: Now that is what I call being part of an exclusive car ownership club, just like the GNX club of owners.

Enjoy the ownership and make sure you put at least a couple thousand miles a year on her so you can say you also enjoyed the driving ownership. siD

That's a great idea Sid....sell em both for a Zanardi - you would love it. If I had had a Zanardi I would have done something else to pay down the house - that is just a dream car and from what it sounds like the price was super right for a pristine example. Jose made a great find there and when I get ready again - I hope that I can be so lucky to find one for that price and condition! I would be content forever I believe.

I may have another car inbetween now and the Zanardi but that's ok - eventually I'll have one - that's really the car!

Maybe I should post in the wanted section...2 cars for 1 Zanardi :biggrin:

 Although you said the ink is dry.

If it was stressful it must mean it was intense, proximate, present time, and worth your time.

Jumping back on a plane w/a done deal and details to follow?

I was referring to "low priced" Zanardi's.

Car is definitely mine. :). Going to enjoy Zanardi ownership.

Just landed. Good to be back in Austin.

Congrats Jose but don't be mistaken that I was eluding to low priced Zanardi's.

Your Zanardi sets the pricing bar as we have no idea what The Kid paid for his (although he's quoted as saying it was a killer deal...probably meaning he got it for less than he expected). You, he, and another fellow are the only "private" or "retail" sales for quite some time. And the other Zanardi's sold in the past 3 years have been the "history" cars with known issues. The cool part of your Zanardi ownership will be knowing you and a select few hold Zanardi's that have no minor or major history. Very cool!

Sounds as though there was some issues with the dealer and the transaction? Glad it all worked out!

That is a "HotHonda."

It maybe hot - but in my mind that is blasphemy, sacrilidge - how can anyone mod a Zanardi? It is beyond me that anyone would mess with the stock nature of 1 of 50 cars made with a 0-60 time of 4.9 for .8 tenths of a second??? Unreal, crazy man - imho that would be one Zanardi I'd mark off my list of ones I'd own - #17. Too bad, but then I don't get SCs or TCs anyway. You want faster - buy another car. Guess that makes me somewhat of a purist.

I was under the impression that some of the cars had a CTSC installed by Honda under special request.

Take $89K (actually just over $100K w/sales tax & lic) and do your own thing Bromley.

S/C etc + forgot....also had CT headers & was authorized dealer installed w/factory backed warranty at the time (1999). Comptech had a relationship w/Acura in those days.

The car sold in 2 days when offered for sale. Purchased by a long time NSX owner & Prime member on the East Coast.

That's pretty amazing you could get a factory warranty and all of that installed by Acura. Didn't know that. I sure like the looks of the car - are those fog lights in the lower valence stock for a Zanardi? They do look good.

The reason I'm skeptical of cars with SCs is that many that have them mistreat them. Those are the only cars I know of that have blown a motor or have blown a TB. I just wouldn't do that to the car - many have them and like them and have no problems and the cars run fine. It boils down to the individual - whatever floats your boat. But if I wanted 400 hp - I'd buy a car that had 400 hp. If I wanted a faster car - I'd buy a faster car that was NA. Just the way I like them, w/o boost. Just my preference. I think that cars are designed to work the way they work best by the factory. Some are built with TCs or SCs from the factory - the NSX never was. That's all I'm sayin really.

I installed them aftermarket.....PIAA 1200 driving lights (discontinued today). Had them on every NSX I owned except my '05 & they worked well.

Regarding warranty, I believe the Comptech/Acura situation was similar to what Dinan has w/BMW today. Fortunately I never needed it.

The Comptech equipment was backed by Acura warranty so why not?!

I believe quite a few buyers did that with the Zanardi and coupes.

I'd love to know the story on Alas-NSX buying experience and what happened...if he's okay with sharing.

I PM'd and posted in this thread, I NEED TO KNOW:biggrin:

yeah dealers would install them back then, and everyone was in line to have it done. then something happened my ( Master NSX Tech )( Ferman Acura tampa ) told me. he didnt say why Acura ended it with Comptech

but will find out later today picking parts up from the dealer

Actually that BS, We were a Comptech dealer and never sold anything more than occasional set of springs or any intake or two. I'd venture to say less than 1% of all supercharged NSX's were installed at time of purchase when new or even installed at an Acura dealership.

There were several dealers that actively sold nsxs with almost the complete catalog of comptech gear installed (niello sacramento, Bellevue , John eagle in Texas and pikes peak in Colorado springs) all routinely installed supercharges, suspensions,Indy bbk's , air boxes, clutches etc on new nsx"s prior to delivery. I have seen several nsxs new on the showroom floor with add on window stickers for the comptech gear and prices in the 120 -150 range with upgrades

yes indeed most of those dealers were on the left coast,we had Greenwich acura in the NE doing it.

I remember back in '06 Niello Acura had a new '04 with all Comptech Upgrades (and ugly chrome wheels) for about $130,000. It was a beautiful red/black and was the first time that I ever sat in an NSX. To this day I still wonder who bought that car.

Bellevue, WA Acura did my car....when I decided to buy #17, the deal I made was to have them install everything prior to delivery.

Doug from their service dept, who was also a mechanic for the Real Time Acura Racing Team, did the install. Perfection!
