nsx vs 360 modena

Regardless of how many horsepower the car has, it would still buy it if the car looks good. Can we really and legally go over 75 and pay the consequences for it? You think an Enzo can run faster than me during rush hour traffic? Shiiit, I can walk faster than Enzo. Me Vs. Enzo, who would win? Back in the age of the Flinstone, NOBODY cares about how much power the car has. Every car cart comes direct from ACME manufacturing with the same power rating....yes, 2 feets and 2 torques!! NSX looks good, Ferrari looks good...Ford Pinto looks ummmm good for some people. It comes down to "preference & your budget & your significant other's approval". Justin has been a long time member here and devoted his time to nsx magazine ...and I trust him completely for a cool and fair review. I too have ridden his F-car to Starbucks when another gent said I love your corvette :D

Regardless................crap, I forgot what I said. Another beer please!! :D

I don't care what people say about NSX, but I know that I own the BEST sport car made from Japan today!

By that logic, should Chevy Colbalt owners be happy knowing that they own the best compact car made in the US today?

302 HP:eek:

with a 12% loss that turn out to be 346 at the crank.

I wonder what the dyno on a F430 will show.

I rented that for 2 weeks....it landed all four feet like a cat.

Gene....another priority superceeded my previous intention. When are we every gonna see you at the meet?

I keep trying to get places but family stuff keeps poping up. I'll make it to something soon I hope!

I've been waiting to hear some feedback from Mike, who also owns a 360 Modena. He also owned a CT 9lb supercharged NSX. Mike... do you have any thoughts you would like to contribute? Tell us about the Capristo exhaust.

Almost a different class entirely. The F430 engine is rated at ~ 360.2 kw / 483 bhp @ 8500 rpm, and I've seen a handful of posts on F-Chat proclaiming in the range of 435rwhp, 305tq approx a 10.6% loss. However, I'm unclear if that was on a mustang or dynojet, let alone which revision of the equiptment they were using.

Healthy power over any 360- even the Stradale. Further note thou that similar to the 360 corresponding wet curb weights do vary widely as well, at 2767 lbs for the challenge, 3197 lbs for the coupe, & 3351 lbs for the spyder.

One thing I want to make clear - I loved and miss my NSX. I start thinking about buying one again each time I see one. ediddynsx should know: I stared at his clean black/tan and sat it in for about 10 minutes... I kept thinking of how much I missed my car.

No one here is flaming the NSX.

Just to let everyone know Justin is a very humble and great person to talk to.
Yes he looks 18 but thats an asian thing.

I plan to buy a 360 myself within the next few years and I am keeping the NSX. I don't plan to get red since Justin already has one  ....its going to be silver or black for me. Well thanks for sharing and don't forget about the Meet on April 30th. We will have a handful of Ferrari's (F40, 512 Testarossa, a few 360's, Mondial), Lotus Esprit, Viper and other cars showing up to this one. See you guys there and we will see Justin in his red tomato car ;)

Yes, I did own an NSX for five years, all Comptech'd out, 360RWHP, etc.
I've owned my 2000 Modena 6-speed for about six months and have put 8000 miles on it, including many "spirited" drives up in the hills with my Ferrari friends. Here is my mini-comparo:

1. Looks: NSX wins, hands down. It is the sweetest, sexiest shape out there. The lines are long, not too wide, very sharp. The NSX could be compared with "Elle Macpherson" whereas the Modena is more of a "J Lo".

2. Interior: NSX wins. The seats are the ultimate. The Modena seats, although highly bolstered, are too narrow at the top and hurt my (and others') shoulders.

3. Handling: Modena. Even without the sport mode on, handles better than my NSX with the Dali bars. In sports mode, it's like a go kart.

4. Performance: I tried to convey my thoughts on this a couple of months ago and people got very defensive. Remember that this is my opinion.
I can say this; I have had NSX's with 4.23's and I/H/E try to follow me up in the hills, and I could lose them, literally, in under one minute (in my NSX). And I can definitely drive faster in the hills in the Modena than I could in the NSX. Why? The handling is better, it feels like it has more torque, and the throttle response is instantaneous. No waiting for the supercharger to kick in. No babying the car around corners because of the body roll. Perhaps a fully modded NSX could beat me in a drag race. Good for them. But I doubt that they would be able to lose me in the hills.

5. Stereo: NSX wins. The Modena stereo has some nice features, but doesn't sound that good.

6. Sound: Come on. I'd have bought another NSX and modded the crap out of it if it wasn't for the sound. Orgasmic comes to mind. The Capristo level 2 exhaust makes the car sound like a Formula 1 car. It just screams at high RPM.

7. Wow factor: Wayne Mello told me, "I'm a six foot tall porn star in this car". (He has a Yellow Modena). Trust me, he's right.

8. Transmission: Tie. I don't think either one is better, just different. I'm talking about the 6-speed. I test drove an F1, didn't do it for me.

9. Brakes. I think the Comptech indy car brakes are a bit better than the Modena brakes. But not much. Cannot compare to stock.

That's all I can think of right now.

You sound pretty much like a freind of mine that compared the two. He has the F1 and he loves it, He says he will own the NSX again though. I will admit that I love the NSX, but I prefer the 360 on the track, I have yet to put the overly boosted NSX on the track yet, but I suspect that I will love it even more.

When able, I will have the NSX and the 360 in the garage. My NSX is still better overall, than anything I have driven or can afford. But I absolutely love the 360.

I also agree with you on the styling. The NSX just looks timeless, low and mean.
Either way you have a great car, but to be able to experience both, priceless.

Thanks for responding Mike. I appreciate your insight.
It was good to hang out with you earlier.
I'm glad we were able to drive around in the NSX, even in the rain.
I can't believe how amazing the Capristo exhaust sounds in person! Wonderful gurgle at idle and screaming F1 noises at higher RPM.

Thanks Mike for another objective view of the two cars. Remember people, the NSX is 15 years old! The fact that it can compete in some limited ways to newer cars says alot. Overall, the Ferrari wins out. But I love my NSX

I would like to give you my impressions of the F360... But I suppose I should wait till I drive one first...

Ok... Further to me never having driven one, but I feel this is relevant to the topic...

I am at dinner at an outside resturant when a (very nice) 360 started up 10' away and drove away...

The 7 other people I was with (admittedly not car people) whom had commented favourably earlier on the Ferrari, turned to see what the "Horrible noise" was... They were all shocked that it was from the Ferrari!

The description was priceless...

"that sounds like a 2-stroke motorbike without an exhaust"... and "Yes... sounds like marble in a tin can..."

They really thought that it was broken and he should get it fixed! I said (as a car person) that they are supposed to sound like that and it does sound a bit different at 6000+RPM...

They just shook their heads and said "it sounds horrible" and we left it at that...

As a prior owner of a 360 I completely agree with his review...but I sold the Prancing Horse and recently purchased an NSX again after having bought a new one in 95...Different cars, different personalities and certainly they both project a different image...at the ripe old age of 43 I think I have outgrown my desire [need] to own a Ferrari and am quite happy with the exotic from the land of the Rising Sun...and I like tinkering with my own cars so the NSX is much more friendly to owner modifications...

Oh! One more thing I forgot to mention.

You can just jump into the NSX at any time, turn the key and start driving. But if you don't thoroughly warm up the Modena (or any other Ferrari for that matter), it will punish you, especially the transmission.

just curious, can you elaborate on the different 'images' projected since you've owned both? maybe image is just something we people make up in our own minds. or do they (cars) really project a certain image.
