NSX sequel decided: 6 cylinders

...but we talk as if we'd drop $90-$130K the instant a redesigned NSX is offered. I know I'd like to but can't, and I think P-car and F-car drivers would just stick with their favored brands even if a newer, faster, lighter, better NSX came out next year. Just my opinion.

I'll buy that argument.
I know it would be at least 5 years AFTER the new redesign came out before I'd be able to fork over the $$$ to get a used one.

Redesigning the NSX is a fun sport that we all take part in to some extent. But it's humorous how many of us talk about the acceptability of a $90K NSX or a $130K NSX priced in the Ferrari range, but so many posts on Prime seem to concern the cheapest way to fix or replace parts. Kind of like this or this? No offense intended to the posters of the threads. Just realistically, most drivers appear to be on a tight budget (I know I am), but we talk as if we'd drop $90-$130K the instant a redesigned NSX is offered. I have to disagree with a couple of your points, just because someone has money doesn't mean they need to waste it. If I can purchase the exact same part at a better price doesn't it make sense to do so? When I was pricing out by Comptech supercharger I made a few phone calls and found I could get a pretty good discount. I have seen others post as to where they can get the best price on various parts. In my opinion this is just being frugal not cheap.

As far as the 90K - 130K price, I believe there are a quite a few people on this board that can and would spend that kind of money if they thought they were getting their moneys worth. I know I would be one of the first in line if they come up with something that beats the competition as they did in '91. I currently have a deposit on a Ford GT and would be willing to give this up if the NSX could match its performance. I think 90K in 2005 dollars would be about the same as 60K dollars in '91 and there was a lot of people waiting to pay that and much more to get an NSX at the time.

I also own a Porsche and a Ferrari and am familiar with quite a few people from both of those groups, I know a lot of them would consider an NSX if it offered the kind of performance that we are talking about here.

In 1996, I actually talked to one of the Honda NSX technician from Tochigi. He said that the NSX should have a more powerful engine such as a 4.0 liter V8 with an output of 360 hp and 300 ft-lb of torque in the existing chassis without too much weight penalty. So I've waited and waited........... That would be a dream comes ture.

Ken, exactely my thoughts! :)
I posted this several times in the past. We want Honda to do a LOT but the truth is that we (90% of us) cannot afford to buy it. So why should Honda take the big risk and please us in releasing a over 100k$ NSX? So that we can buy it in 10 years for 20k$? :D Hmmm... I do not think that this fits their marketing strategy!

And as much as I love the NSX, if I had to pay 100k$... I do not know... probably I would buy a 360 Spider. That's a SWEET car and it is for sure better from a resale point of view. And this from a NSX fanatic...

Carugy, you (and mbartlett4, and some other...) are part of that lucky 10% I was writing before. You would have bought the NSX for 60k in 1990, you probably did it for 80k in the last years and you would do this again in future for 100k.

With you, some other thousands did in the past. But probably if the same people would buy the new NSX again we would end up with 15000 NSX as it happened with 1th-Gen.

Honda wants more if they apply again to a NSX project. Probably 3x more...

And the big question: can the new NSX be better than the old one was against the 1990 compettition???

Try more like $220-240K for a 360 Spider.
