NSX Craze November 20-22 - Austin & Hill Country

For the H-Town people im gonna make start my usual thread for the nsx -carvan from Katy to the Nsx Craze in Austin next month in the Houston Forum! Let me know if your down. Scott, Greg, Matt, i know your always game! :biggrin:

In the case of it getting dark at 5:30 on Sat we might want to gauge interest on a early start time at Harris Hill on Sun. Im sure we could get the track from 9- 12 and have a drivers meeting at 8:30. How would that sound to everyone? That way everyone can start heading back to where there going around 1pm.

Wasn't that the original plan (ie. Sunday morning track-outing)?

If we get at least 12-15 people to track there cars it would be around $100 a person. Thats very inexpensive for 3-4 track sessions and you will learn a TON about your car in a safe environment.

How does that sound? I can call erik at the Track and let him know what we want to do.

That sounds very good, actually.

... and ~$100 for a track-outing of that duration is rather tempting. I guess I should start sorting out my wheels-&-tires/suspension/brakes/fluids! :redface:

Just thinking out-loud...

Sunday:
* early-morning/late-morning -> early meet-up @ predetermined location (~7am) & drive-down to Harris Hill Road-course in San Marcos for 9am - 12pm track-outing.
* afternoon -> leave San Marcos for group brunch/lunch somewhere, those not participating in the track-outing can meet-up w/ the track-peeps at a chosen locale.
* late-afternoon -> South Congress R&R for some, for others: [/end]


To everyone else thinking about attending but didn't list their names yet:

I just need a relatively accurate/ballpark head-count of NSX'ers within a week so I can get stuff sorted-out & organized (ie. sponsor/vendor offerings, dealer/showroom open-houses, and my place for chillin' out). Otherwise no goodiez to give-out, no hot rides to drool-over, and no place to hang-out before/after events...

Im calling all my NSX friends trying to get all the slots filled for the track day. If you do plan in tracking your NSX add yourself to the list and repost it.

I dont think Nathan from Louisiana has added his name yet and I would assume he would be in.

I called Alex Soufie as well and I think he would track his NSX as well.

The owner is a good friend of mine and has promised VERY REASONABLE drink specials for the NSX crew. There is also plenty of FREE parking available.

I'm planning on being in Colorado a couple days ahead of this. I tenatively could join up with the group for a track day. Anyone around there have a spare bunk? Howard

I am almost sure there would be someone in austin that could borrow you a room. We would love to have you at the track day!!

I have been talking to erik at Harris Hill and he said that Sun morning is prime time for the members and would cost us $2700 for the early morning session.
He said if we backed it up to 11am-1pm and have a arrival around 10:30 for drivers meeting and what not it would cost us in the $1300 range. Right now with 10 people ready to track thats $130 a person which is still not bad. I think we will easily get another 3-4 people to track there car and make it even cheaper!!

Hey guys! I am finally back on the forum, got a new name but it's still me with the '94 Brooklands/Zanardi wheels. I'm up for the track day - especially after doing a few laps with Chris last weekend - what a rush!

I just wanted to ask what the 'track day' consists of. Last time we did a lead-follow thing with a pace car. That was okay for $40, but for $100 I would hope we could let it hang out a little more. As discussed with Scott and Chris 10/24 we could divide up into two groups - novice and expert - and spread out on the track and see what we can do, or feel like trying, anyway. After riding with Chris I can safely say I am in the novice group, but we all can have fun within our limits.

Speaking of Harris Hill, they are having a 'sale' on their memberships through the end of the week (Oct). Instead of a $2500, non-refundable initiation fee, if two sign up together they each would only pay $1500. The way I figure it the minimum monthly dues would be $150 ($90 plus one 2-hr track session). I'm kind of on the fence about it, but the more the merrier!

If anyone is interested email me and we can discuss further.
