NSX Crash in San Diego

all the cops would have to do is compile a list of black evos in that vicinity that have that sticker by talking to the good ol' boyz at Reese....

Damn i have been watching to much law and order..that would be to easy.:biggrin:
 
Looking at those pictures, how the heck did the car get on the other side of the wall?

I think the picture I've attached below illustrates the crash well assuming I'm drawing the right conclusions from the debris scatter, apparent path of the front clip, etc. You can see some of the front clip at the top edge in the center...and a liquid trail leading to that location.

It appears he hit the pole located on the far-right corner of the intersection he was traveling through. I think he must have hit it at an angle between head-on (zero degrees) and sideways with the right side of the car (90 degrees). Car split in two from the right-front to the left b pilar as it traveled through the location of the pole (the pole essentially cut the car in two). The front which sheered off stayed to the left of the pole (street-side) where it came to rest. The bulk (middle/rear) of the car continued on it's off-road course to the right of the pole/trees along the hill/ditch where it came to rest (second picture).

Looking at the road it seems he early apexed the turn that meant he was messed and lost control. Another reason why having a sportscar should mean you need to go to HPDE!

I don't think he was trying to turn intentionaly,I think they were going straight down the street,possibly had to go through a red light as someone else might have been turning on to the street they were speeding on??Either way those pics are helpful in giving us a general overview of the scene,,,what a horrific impact .But he lived through it.
 
i think the point of impact was the driver's door... in this post on the 1st page of this thread, there is a photo of the drivers door on the floor which shows clearly that the door was arrounf the pole...its the drivers one, because the passengers is still intact on the rest of the car...

beeing the drivers door the point of impact, the accident seems even more weird...

EDIT: unless the car rotated as it was beeing crossed by the pole, and then the 2 halfs kept the movement ... ?!?!!? weird

Here's one way you can hit the driver's door:

Back in college, I hit a patch of unexpected ice caused by mist off of the adjacent river, and lost control. It first fishtailed left, which I corrected, but when the back end swung back around, it kept swinging on towards the right. I'd done a counter-clockwise 270 by the time I hit a tree, off to the right of the road, sideways with the drivers'-side b-pillar.

(At 35mph, it made an impressive vertical dent, the entire height of the car, about eight inches deep, and exactly the shape of the tree.)

no...it really doesn't...it just trying to understand how it happened

- point of impact side (drivers door)
- debris trails;
- pole place
- final place for car halfs, rear and front

well....let's get that behind our backs....and move on...

Could always be that when the car hit on the left side it pulled a clockwise 270 and sent the front of the car off into the street during the <100mph spin.

What's wrong with him posting this info? I see nothing wrong with it. This is a forum about a topic--the more info the better. I certainly don't think any new pics or info should be censored. I don't see how more unseen, detailed pics of the damage is gratuitous.

I, for one, am looking forward to seeing more detailed pics of the damage.

Looks like a very nice, very clean car tastefully modded. I'm sure that's the one as the wrecker had the Acura "A" badge on the center taillight.

You have to put in NSX to get to it. You cannot view unless you register to be a member.

This is very sad and bothersome regardless of how or why it happened, but it should stay in the back of our minds so we all practice common sense and restraint. This is very sobering. Looking at these pictures may save someone else from making a similar mistake, and that makes viewing and discussing such events important. It takes a split second of misjudgement and you wish you could reset, but in life you cannot, you can only deal with the reality of your actions and the consequences that unfold.

I wish the driver and his family a quick and complete recovery so they can all put this eventually behind them and move on with their lives.
