New Red to White NSX-R conversion

its DF front bumper

it looks awesome but the fitment isnt the best,
like i said if you paid a little extra on the price to get OEM,
you wouldnt need to pay the body guy extra to make it fit.

if you get me. DF+body guy to make it fit would equal the price of OEM.
no body guy needed to make OEM fit.

Thanx Shawn

From the photos It looks like DF has modified their front bumper then to re-incorporate the 2-peice oem "bumper line" that was missing on their earlier version of the front bumper

I went by Shawn's shop yesterday and first, let me say, Shawn is as cool as you'd imagine in his posts - really nice (and smart) guy. His passion about NSXs exudes everywhere - as does every NSX part known to man!

His shop is awesome NSX-land! I can bet that won't be my last trip to see him! Still shopping for my NSX - maybe it'll be a Shawn original...

Thanks for showing me around Shawn and your work speaks for itself - great stuff!

and here is the car at Extreme Motor cars, if you notice the line I pointed out with red arrows I cant tell you what really happening to the car but its gonna be amazing.

also there are no more Bumper cover holes hmmmm I wonder how you get the front bumper off if you shaved those holes and no longer have access to the top bolt of the bumper beam. hmmmm.. this is getting interesting.
I dont think I have seen shaved front covers before ? has anyone else seen this? I wonder what else is happening.

now as you can see I have pointed out something thats happening with red arrows. hmmm. this car is really gonna be one of a kind.

............hmmm construction cone.........could'nt have been a construction worker:eek:

hmmm... I wonder what this could be used for?
def not for engine cooling hmm I wonder

the airdam thingy is a maybe, a brake cooler ducted to the rear brakes
possibly we are not sure yet.

as for the spoiler the owner has not decided what to do that was a mock up. it still in the works.

stay tuned guys.

While you have the engine out you should send the new headers off to Jet-Hot Coatings. It is one of the best $220 you'll spend on the car for a ceramic inside and outside coating.
It dropped my engine compartment temp 75 C deg. and if you could see them, they are a work of art.

Cheers

Hi Shawn,

Great job! Wow this project is definitely turning out to be a unique car. I like the idea for the rear wing - had a similar idea before. I didn't like how the Type R wing broke up the rear body line of the NSX and wanted something more similar to the Ferrari F50 rear wing where it just flow consistently like part of the body. Anyhow, looking forward to how this turns out. Keep up the good work!

Definately interested In seeing the rear wing project come to fruition. At first glance it reminded me of the WW 3 piece spoilers that were very popular back in the day

the rear wing is just a mock-up not sure if its going to be the final product
but interesting to see it

it should be ready for paint in a few more days.

if you notice there is no rubber spacer for the front bumper when it meets the fender like on most OEM NSX's I think on a white car or any NSX color other than black this ruins the cars. so its all flush

Hi Shawn,

Attention to detail is what makes your builds so interesting ... this one even more so due to the surprises that we wait to evolve!

Quick Q: by eliminating the mounting rubber to the front bumper, are you not putting the fresh paint at risk of vibration damage? It would be such a shame to have all the hard work undone over a few miles of bumpy tarmac. Maybe a small set of spacers could work to replicate the standard panel gaps and still keep the rubber out of the finished project?

Will keep watching

regards, Paul

I agree no cushion and that paint will chip.

you know honda does things for a reason. we didnt think about that.
but the gap you see may be just enough to prevent it from shaking enough to cause a chip/crack.

cross fingers

was told it will be ready by friday/if not monday

Ok here are some updates while at Extrememotorcars
pics used by perm.

here is the sub frame perfectly cleaned look brand new. very nice.

Oh I forgot to tell you we needed to take the Windshield out to do this, no cutting corners when you paint.

this is the front looking good. if you look you can see the MORE defined lines in the front, this is how it should have been from the factory. give it that edge look I think it turned out bad ass.

here are the 02+ DF side skirts getting real close guys.

I really like the opening in the quarter panel, i wanted to ask a shop to do that for me when i was ready to take mine for paint. Something like the Ferrari F430.
