Must get Canon EOS 5D Mark II

And all along I thought it was the camera taking the bad pictures, not the idiot holding it. I guess I can keep my Kodak Brownie for a few more years.

Actually, you should've bought the higher resolution Leica A instead.

The only reason I would go with a 5D is for full frame cmos. But, it'll make some of my EF-S lenses obsolete, especially my beloved 10-22

+1

The difference between even an amature videographer that understands the fundamentals of photography with a good eye, to a pro-sumer with fancy equipment; has always been about the same as comparing Anna Kournikova world team match to my ping pong game. Pretty ugly.

That said, yes- charged coupled device technology has come a long way since the first digital backs for SLR's made their debut when I was in high school.

Yeah, but it's always fun to have the cool new latest and greatest sh!t, no matter how much we might suck at it.

Aka nsx performance components, my pro snowboard, my downhill longboard and all sorts of crap. Oh yeah, and soon to be my Canon 40d

Its like an idiot w/ ferrari and professional w/ miata. This idiot still wants his overkill ferrari!

I think my problem is I popped this fuse that says FAD on the top of it about five years ago, and never bothered to replace it. I didn't know what it was for.

You know what happened- it probably got over-loaded from working on all the latest cutting edge technology at Microsoft.

So I just made a phone order through Adorama. The only reason I ordered through Adorama is because they seem to come in just slightly behind B&H photo on the web and B&H UNFORTUNATELY was out of stock of the setup I wanted to get.

Anyhow, I ordered this kit
http://www.adorama.com/ICA40DK1.html?searchinfo=40d&item_no=11

Has anyone ever ordered from them through the phone before? Christ, they REALLY made me feel nervous like I shouldn't have done that. Felt like I was being hustled! Flags went up in my head but I ordered anyhow JUST because their ratings were numerous and was almost those of B&H.

It felt like he was trying to sell me extra crap then trying to get me off the phone asap after he got my order info. Asked for my billing but didn't ask for shipping address, even though it is the same, didn't ask for which method of shipping so assumed I wanted basic but I actually wanted 2 day air, then failed to give me a total 2 times. I know sounds bad, I should of said f#ck it and hung up. But if it weren't for the recommendations and actually good numerous reviews like those of B&H, I wouldn't have ordered there.

I just hope it's I'm not screwing myself over this............. Can someone please reassure me?????? Adorama experiences anyone??? I know Bfrank said their fair huge and gives it the ok, but shit, I felt hustled! I've got over $1k riding on this....

Well a simple search on prime on "adorama" netted me just a couple links but the links contained within have helped calmed me down. Either way, talk about crap phone mannerism! That's bad to be HIGHLY recommended but still give the buyer the impression that they're being hustled EVERY step of the way!

First photo of Prez-elect Obama with the Canon 5DMII 105mm f/10 Iso 100 today.

nice shot with nice expression and blur of flag!

I have the 5D and very pleased especially with 300 2.8L lens which is great for sporting events. Family is embarrassed when I take it or the zooms out. They prefer the iphone; we'll see in twenty years when they look back at the photo quality. I tried to buy the 5D Mark II but they were out of stock. I'll have to try Best Buy one of these days. thanks for the tip.

I just received my EOS 5D Mark II body with my Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS lens due to me on Wednesday!!!

The camera body is BIG. I guess it needs to be considering the screen on it is huge! Should be great for shooting video.

I can't wait... have read the dang manual 5 times waiting for the lens. I can't wait to take some picts and video. I hope to post them by next week.

I did a price request through Marine Corps Exchange, and I got a price of $2699 for the 5D Mark II, and of course no taxes. What are these going for out there at the moment?

If you can find a lower price than B&H photo or Adorama, then there is probably something wrong.

But the marine exchange is about the same as bh and adorama. $2699 body only.

I'd go with the marine exchange out of principle.

and don't forget, you don't pay taxes! That's at any military exchange.

Well I was a huge BX spender when I was still in the air force, so I definitely got my money's worth! lol I'd do it just because I know the profits would be well spent and can't forget the military spouses who work those places.

You should have saw the best buy ad when that camera came out. My buddie took the Best Buy online add and had the store beat it on top of that. I think he pay like $2,300???

But, he still tells me to stick with my Nikons??? I learned on a Canon and went to the Nikons back in the film ages of college. Recently, purchased a Nikon D300 (currently selling with two lenses 18-200mmVR and 12-28mm) and getting ready for a D700. Both Canon and Nikon Cameras are great products. Each has its own purpose.

7D sounds like a great deal, $1000 cheaper and it still records in HD!
