Gran Turismo 5 FINALLY coming on November 2, 2010

So a couple of problems I'm running into is the following. In the game when I'm in a straight away the wheel slowly starts to do it's force feedback thing and starts to sway to the side. You counter it to keep it straight and then it fights in the opposite direction. You counter again and it goes back to the opposite direction. If you fight it it tends to get worse and worse and starts to really sway like a good 10 deg-15 deg every time in either direction. It only goes away when you are going into a turn then it starts to do it again. Some people have added new firmwares to the wheel and adjusted settings to minimize the affect but it's still kind of there.

The other problem that people have been reporting is that the brakes randomly start apply at like 20% pressure on it's own. It really sucks because it can slow you down big time in the straights and in the tests. When I look at the replay I always see this quick 1/4 second blinks of the break light so I know it's seriously happening. It hasn't been addressed yet so I'm going to have to wait and see what going to happen. I hope they fix it though.

What is annoying is that GT5 prologue worked fine with the wheel. I never had any of these problems only in GT5 it's doing it so something is up I think in the GT5 code because it used to work. I'm wondering if Sony will be patching it up in the future.

I am having the sway issue on the straights. Haven't had the rest. Have you updated your firmware?

I did calibrate my shifter. Didn't help.

Like I said before, they have had a YEAR to get this wheel supported natively, so I don't understand why that isn't the case.

No I haven't update the firmware yet. What exactly wrong with your 6 speed shifter? I sometimes have problems with the shifter when I'm going from 1st to 2nd, but I think it's because I'm releasing the clutch too fast so it stays in neutral lol.

When I shift from 1 -2 it just stays in neutral. It also does it from 2 -3. But it doesn't do it all the time. But enough that it is very annoying and will cost you a lot of time when it just doesn't shift. I haven't tried it since the patch, so I will let you know if it fixed it.

Yea got mine at gamestop and i love it! Im really thinking about http://www.bobearlracing.com/ getting this bc its really tiring to have it mounted on the coffee table thats so low from the sofa haha

That unit is great. Its simple and is so comfortable to sit in and adjust. I played almost all day yesterday in it and am not hurting at all. I also like that it has more of an F1 style seating position, so instead of being upright you are leaned back. That works great for me since when it is on the floor, the screen is higher up above me and it puts my head back and vision directly at the screen instead of having to look up the whole time.

I'm using the Logitech Driving Force GT with GT5 and, as suspected, I have zero issues to report. Feels great...no complaints...though I do tend to bump the top mounted buttons under hard steering, one which honks the horn and the other turns on the windshield wipers. I'm going to disable the horn one (since the GT horn button also honks the horn), but have a feeling I'll need the windshield wipers. I think there's another button I can remap it to...will look next time I play.

Cool. I would love to see this game in 3d mode. It has to be awesome.

+1. I was surprised to see the PS3 get the 3D update. It can do 3D blu ray as well. Extremely cool.

I have NVidia 3D surround on my PC and with well supported games it's extremely cool. Would love to do GT5 in 3D, but upgrading the main TV is a stretch.

I have a 65" Panasonic 3D. I admit it's kinda cool but with the dark glasses it's a bit hard to see when entering a high speed corner full of shadows. Try playing with sunglasses and you'll understand what I mean. Still cool.

What about the location of the gear shift? Seems to me that it would be awkward to use.

EDIT: But now that I look at it maybe its not a standard 6 speed gear shift???

Is that a gear shift?

Just a sequential shift knob (also has buttons on the back of the wheel for sequential shifting instead of full on paddles)...you need the G25/G27 for the clutch and 6 speed shifter. But you do get some buttons and a knob on the Driving Force GT that the others lack...useful for quick tuning during races.

So can you add a clutch and shifter to the Force GT?

Hm... I actually was reading into this the other day and it may be related to GT5 shift change requirements. Some owners say if you have your foot on the gas even the slightest during a gear change it'll do that for you. I have that same problem but not from 2 to 3.

Regardless here's my awesome made at home setup lol. Cost me about 25dollars to make. :D

And surprisingly it's the perfect size for my closet too :D.

^^ Nice work  I might have to create something like that when my DFGT arrives.

Right now I'm thinking I can use this while I play from my couch:

**On a side note**
The only way to paint a car is to use a color from a car that I've purchased? I was disappointed when I entered the paint booth and didn't find a color wheel or paint swatches :frown: I wanted to paint my NSX something other than red, silver or black.

** This is the best news to date! **

Information about patches are starting to pop up...here's some things Yamauchi wants to fix:

http://www.gtplanet.net/yamauchi-on-gt5s-mechanical-damage-updates-more/

Collected from Tweets with Yamauchi:

- Flexible camera angles and “dynamic and wide-area lighting needs” are to blame for the sometimes blocky shadows. Yamauchi admits they are a problem and wants to improve them.

- Yamauchi appears to consider the possibility of removing the in-game HUD (heads-up-display features) at some point in the future.

- To unlock the Red Bull X1, you’ll need to complete the “Sebastian Vettel Challenge”, which appears at Level 30.

- Online “lounge” functionality and other features will be added “one by one”.

- Polyphony Digital continues to work on fully supporting the Logitech G25 and G27, though Yamauchi admits he would like a “new steering device soon”…

- Mechanical damage options will be implemented in a new update for GT5 coming “early December”.

- As you may know, many players noticed that GT5’s face-tracking functionality only worked in Arcade mode. According to Yamauchi, it’s not available in GT mode due to memory issues with the PS3.

- In-game rewards (such as the monetary prize in GT5 Prologue) for your performance in online events is something Polyphony Digital is considering, and may be implemented in a future update.

- Gran Turismo 5
’s official, 2-disc sound-track will be released soon.

- Yamauchi wanted to implement a “free roam” gameplay mode in GT5, where players could drive around, respecting speed limits and obeying traffic laws, and even exit the car to walk around and explore the environment on foot.

- The YouTube replay upload feature had to be pulled from the final version of the game because it took a very long time to render and it consumed too much memory. Yamauchi is still considering it, however.

Where can I get the RAYBRIG NSX and the Red one? (I forget the name starts with an A?)

ARTA Autobacs maybe? It's orange though. There's a red Super GT NSX sponsored by Rolling Stone but I can't remember the team name.

Was hoping the HSV would be in here somewhere...

I saw a 2001 Honda NSX is the Used Car section, but it was a 2002. It also said in the description that in 2001 Honda updated to the new look. Do the 2001 NSXs in Japan sport the 2002 USA update?

Also there was a early NSX Lemans car in the used car section. Apparently, cars come and go in the Used Car section and if you pass on them they don't ever reappear. :frown:

My laziness finally bit me in the @$$.

I should have gotten a wheel. I thought I would wait and try the game before I decided one way or another, and I just got it today. (Amazon preorder) This is the first time I have felt the game was realistic to require a wheel - which is great... uh, except for my laziness.

I missed out on the $84 at amazon, and it is back up to $130 everywhere. Anybody finding good deals?
