Gran Turismo 5 FINALLY coming on November 2, 2010

Thought it would be smart to preorder from Amazon weeks ago. Wrong ! they shipped on 11/24 and will not be delivered until 11/30. Deceiptfull practice by Amazon yet again. Amazing (1) what Amazon gets away with !

I pre-orded also and last week changed the shipping to release date and my shipping cost dropped to $0.99.

THE GAME IS GREAT!

Question to anyone who has the game...

The graphics seem really good...but the shadows in game are super pixelated. It kind of bothers me when I start a race and the camera pans across the car...the car is rendered well...even the smoke from spinning tires. But the shadows on everything are shitty...anyone else see notice this?

The hand controller just isn't cutting it for me anymore. I'm going to have to get a wheel, pedal, seat setup.

Having played in one of these, I'm kinda partial to 'em:

Ick, not cheap though...

Yea it bugs the crap out of me too..... you would think that they would at least anti-alias the shadows..... it appears to be completely raw and unpolished... I hope they patch this and fix it!

Oh the cool thing is that the lady at gamestop gave me the pre-order code to get the NASCAR & McLaren Stealth cars... pretty sick! Although you do have to buy at least something to start using it..

can anyone tell me the difference between the standard game disc to the collector edition? I got both, my Walmart ordered showing ETA of my collector's edition is 12/15, guessed what they arrived in the Wed afternoon. and I already started playing the regular one.

I know they give me a piece of "scratch" ticket thing for the nsx. But what about the 5 bonus cars? Do they come with game disc inside?? If they are indeed different, will I be ok loading the collector's disc??

Please let me know.

ps. anyone have a list of what prize cars when you finished the specific races??

I was surprised to see the game was 3D compatible. I hadn't remembered reading that before. Probably someone mentioned it in this thread and I missed it. Anyway I thought if you had a large screen 3D TV that could be kinda cool.

You mean like this one?

I've asked this question here before but didn't get an answer though. So please could you answer it?

have you played GT5 on it? I was thinking of the manual transmission setup but was wondering how well it works in games?

Can you do burnouts like revving up the engine and dropping the clutch? or high gear burnouts? basically how well does the clutch really work?

Having never owned one, I've always wondered if you really have to use the clutch pedal on these setups or is it on there for fun?

I see you've got the Driving Force GT wheel set-up. How do you like it compared to the other Logitech wheels?

I really want to get the Logitech G27 set-up but they are backordered and not available in stores...unlike the GT. I really like the optional paddle shifters, 6 spd shifter, and clutch pedal on the G27. Do you feel like the GT wheel is as good as the G27? I'm debating on whether I should order the G27 despite the wait...or just buy the GT in store.

Here's mine (PSN = JDMoption):

My buddy has the new version:

And then one of my other buddies made one and used his old Spyder seat:

I just bought my NSX on this game and maxed out all the mods and was pissed that you cant put a turbo or a super charger on it! That doesn't make any sense....:mad: So you really can't get above 350 HP on this car which is total BS they should patch it and allow these options!

Also where do you change the rims in the game? i didn't see the option......

+1. I was surprised to see the PS3 get the 3D update. It can do 3D blu ray as well. Extremely cool.

I have NVidia 3D surround on my PC and with well supported games it's extremely cool. Would love to do GT5 in 3D, but upgrading the main TV is a stretch.

Bought the 97 NSX. Why won't it let me upgrade to the better engine and turbo kit? Says I need to upgrade in order?

What the..

If you select the NSX through the Honda dealership, you'll be able to buy an NSX-R. No turbo available but you will be able to upgrade the engine via NA mods.

Oh man that would of made it so much easier for me if I knew this lol. I did managed to get gold in B5 but it the hardest out of all the B liscence tests. One thing that sucks though is the fanatec wheel is having problems with GT5 but not with GT5 prologue.... I wonder what the deal is with that but its super annoying.

Haha I can't wait to test that out after the computer finishes racing my 95 NSX for me in B-Spec mode.

In regards to the GT Wheel question, I haven't tried the new G27 wheel yet. I know for a fact my times would go down because I wouldn't be left foot braking as much. The force feedback is definately madatory for racing games. I had a cheapo one for Xbox back in the days, and this one is infinately better. I'm also not sure if the G27 would work on my older version of the Playseat.

One benefit of the Playseat is that you can detach the seat from the steering wheel/pedal mount for easier storage.

I see some questions on the clutch, so I will try and answer as best as I can with the Fanatec wheel.

So as far as I can tell, it works like a real clutch -- however, you cannot do any damage to it. You do have to depress the clutch to shift gears with the 6-speed -- which is cool.

The cool thing about forza 3 is that if you didn't shit correctly, you would damage your clutch, so it was sweet when you did smooth heel and toe downshifting. In GT5, it doesn't matter how smooth you are etc.

I am having issues shifting gears though and that is fanatec related.

I am not sure how it works for the G25/27, but that is my experience thus far.

What problems are you having with the fanatec? I think it sucks that this game doesn't support this wheel other than in compatibility mode. Why it fanatec not an option? It has been out long enough and has excellent support in most games.

I've been doing research on the Logitech G25/G27 wheels. The G27 isn't supported in the game and I've read about compatibility issues with it and GT5...mainly paddle shifting in conjunction with the 6 speed shifter and problems with setting up the clutch.

I ordered the Driving Force GT wheel because I've heard great things about it, it's supported in GT5 and it's much cheaper than the other G series wheels. I got the GT for $99 on Amazon. Can't wait to see how it feels

Got the same wheel and deal.

And if you've never tried it before, prepare to be stunned.

I was considering the G27 but couldn't justify the 3X price tag.

I just bought it too!

I was $139 on Wednesday! GREAT DEAL!!!

Yea got mine at gamestop and i love it! Im really thinking about http://www.bobearlracing.com/ getting this bc its really tiring to have it mounted on the coffee table thats so low from the sofa haha

So a couple of problems I'm running into is the following. In the game when I'm in a straight away the wheel slowly starts to do it's force feedback thing and starts to sway to the side. You counter it to keep it straight and then it fights in the opposite direction. You counter again and it goes back to the opposite direction. If you fight it it tends to get worse and worse and starts to really sway like a good 10 deg-15 deg every time in either direction. It only goes away when you are going into a turn then it starts to do it again. Some people have added new firmwares to the wheel and adjusted settings to minimize the affect but it's still kind of there.

The other problem that people have been reporting is that the brakes randomly start apply at like 20% pressure on it's own. It really sucks because it can slow you down big time in the straights and in the tests. When I look at the replay I always see this quick 1/4 second blinks of the break light so I know it's seriously happening. It hasn't been addressed yet so I'm going to have to wait and see what going to happen. I hope they fix it though.

What is annoying is that GT5 prologue worked fine with the wheel. I never had any of these problems only in GT5 it's doing it so something is up I think in the GT5 code because it used to work. I'm wondering if Sony will be patching it up in the future.

Hey NetViper have you tried calibrating your 6 speed shifter? If you haven't here's a document that shows you how to do so.
