Gran Turismo 5 FINALLY coming on November 2, 2010

I wished the developers would put more research time into adding cars to the list. don't get me wrong I like it they have the HSC concept..

BUT an Acura CL....really?? and no LEGEND? The later 6spd one was sweet though.

I agree this seems a bit dumb but check this out.

301. S Honda NSX Type S ‘97
302. S Honda NSX Type S ‘99
303. S Honda NSX Type S ‘01
304. S Honda NSX Type S Zero ‘97
305. S Honda NSX Type S Zero ‘99

Why are there 3 variations of the Type S and 2 variations of a Type S Zero which are all only 2 years apart from eachother.... Why not just ONLY put in the '01 TYpe S and the '99 Type S Zero and now you have 3 more other cars you can add to the game.

This is what gets me about the GT series they boast about 1000+ cars but the fact of the matter is about half the cars are all the same car. Like you mentioned above why not include the legends into this or maybe get a Koenigsegg into the series as well.

Either way I'll be picking this up on the 24th. I purchased a PC/PS3/360 compatible Fanatec wheel just for this game and Forza 3 :).

HOLY SHIT!

Actually, I think that "2nd Intro" is a fan-made edit...people have been pretty disappointed with GT5's long and slow intro.

This looks amazing, but is it worth bothering with using a regular PS3 controller? The steering wheel setup isn't in the budget.

I highly highly highly recommend getting the steering wheel with peddles

I tried both button crunching and using a steering wheel. No comparison. The steeering wheel is at least 10X better. What will really surprise you is that playing with a steering wheel is actually harder than button crunching! simply put, using a steering wheel and paddles is more realistic so it just gives a lot more of a challenge and feels a lot more real than button crunching. You will realize that not having a steering wheel was stealing a lot of the experience away.

You can get a forced feed back steering wheel with peddles for as cheap as around 120USD and even cheaper if you buy used. But be very careful to buy one that has force feedback. Most out there don't.

Oh and just in case you were wondering, the force feedback on these things is so good you can feel small bumps on the road like you would in a real car and the force is strong enough to twist your arms. I always leave it at very low feedback.

Apparently, the Japanese website for GT5 posted the official car list ( P = premium model, S = standard model ):
1031. S Volvo S60 T-5 Sport ‘03

man I almost missed a heat beat seeing the Premium and Standard on the list.

I thought premium cars only come in a more expensive GT5 (Standard) version. And you had to dish out more than the 60$ you are already paying up for it.

But thanks a million for the list

My list of cars I'm happy to see on it are:

Ferrari 458
lotus Evora
NSX
Lambos

I also join my name in the long list of upset fans wanting the Porsche GT3 on that list. Just hope they update it at some point.

I forgot one more comment I wanted to add in

I certainly don't want to start a flame war over here but I want to mention my experience

I played Forza (the latest at the time which was about 8 months ago) and I simply could not compare it to GT. It was just so easy and the way cars went in corners at ridiculously high speeds reminded me more of Need for Speed rather than GT. I really can't call Forza a replacement for GT. From what I can tell Microsoft is trying to appeal to a broader audience than GT by making Forza more arcade than simulation. This will appeal to more people but not for car enthusiasts. This is so evidant by my friend who knows nothing of cars and hated GT but loved Forza. Well at least until I told him I view forza as arcade, now he's back to being interested in why GT has such a strong cult following that is yet to be replicated.

I pre-ordered GT5 Collectors Edition at GameStop. They mentioned I would get an email or a phone call when it arrives...is this true? Or do I need my purchase receipt to pick it up?...Because I have no clue where the receipt is

I heard different from people who've tracked their cars and compared that experience against Forza 3. From what I hear from these track guys, Forza 3 feels like it's a good simulator. I haven't heard from the same guys about their input for GT5 though since the game isn't out yet for us. I do know that most say GT is the better simulator but I feel this is coming from kids who I doubt even tracked a real car and are just impressed by the graphics lol. I rather believe the guys who track their cars.

I'll reserve my judgment until I get the game in my hands tomorrow and try it out with my new Fanatec Wheel. Although I guess I wouldn't be qualified either since I've never tracked a car... yet :D.

if you do and can compare it to Forza 3 please post here and let us know how they compare. I only played Forza for a short while so I can't be 100% sure of what I think, it's just an initial impression.

Oh and on the topic of how real GT feels. I learned how to master opposite lock for oversteering on GT and it got me out of trouble more than once in real life. And about the graphics, I actually play GT5 Prologue on a non HD TV, so I couldn't care less about the graphics.

I wasn't intending that statement to you. I was talking about the kids on game forums I debate with that just state GT is a "real simulator" and then start bragging about the graphics.. lol. I'll definitely try to give my own review and maybe do a little comparison between the two back to back.

Neither GT or Forza are good simulators. Games, yes - but the actual physics don't compare to a true sim such as Live For Speed, RFactor or iRacing on the PC. And even those "sims" have a ways to go to truly accurately model a car at it's limits.

Try this in Forza or GT5. Go barreling into a corner and as you turn in towards the apex, lift off the gas or stab the breaks hard.

Now go out to the track and try the same thing.

Let me know how much the later costs you to repair your NSX.

I agree. Both are good games, but neither really replicate being on a track. Like Clarkson said... the one thing the games can't replicate is FEAR! :)

Full feature list is now online: http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/products/gt5/

It's almost here!!!

I played from GT to GT3 with the standard dualshock/dualshock2 controllers and switched to the Driving Force Pro when GT4 came out. It made such a huge difference, not only in control but in how much more immersive the overall experience was. GT3 to 4 was not that big a leap in many respects, but the wheel made it feel like an entirely different game. I highly recommend getting one of the force feedback wheels with 900 degrees lock-to-lock rotation. It made ALL the difference in the world.

I've been using the Driving Force GT since Prologue came out...in some ways, I prefer the force feedback of the Driving Force Pro, but I like having the quick-tuning dial on the wheel. I'll be playing GT5 with the Driving Force GT. I would love to get the G27 (for the clutch and 6-speed shifter), but it is REALLY hard to justify buying another when you already own two!

One big downside that I just found out from watching a gamespot.com one hour preview is that only 200 out of the 1000 cars will have interior veiws.... that's kind of lame. Luckily the 91 Acura NSX, 02 Honda NSX-R are premium cars and will include a interior driving view :).

There are lots of little things about GT5 that are starting to pop up.
- Only 15 out of 60+ tracks have Time/Weather change
- Only 200 out of 1000+ cars have interior views. Difference between Premium and Standard Cars.

Who knows...it's soo easy to nit-pick. It's going to be an amazing game hands down.

I'm contemplating getting the Logitech G27 steering wheel. I'll have to make due with the standard controller for now.

I agree with everything you say in your post. And you could only go so far with a fixed chair simulating the movement of a car.

But just on a side note, as far as I can tell all the simulators you mentioned are extremely limited on car selection. You can forget about driving a Ferrari Italia on any of them. But again this is as far as I know. And to me that's the main draw of GT. Getting to experience a bit of your dream cars.

And another side note. On GT5P if you set all things on simulation and turn off all kinds of aids and use a steering wheel and pedals, then cars like the NSX,Ford GT and Lotus Elise, will spin the instant you lift your foot completely off the gas pedal in mid corner.

oh and yep one more side note: I got a text message telling me to pick up GT5 tomorrow morning.
