Limited access!?! I counted no fewer than six intersections, and I wasn't even trying! And do you really think a grass median will protect other unsuspecting (read: innocent) drivers from a spinning 120 mph missile?
It's a little hypocritical to tell others to "stay safe everyone..." when you can't do it yourself.
hypocritical is buying an NSX and saying you don't speed. i've been involved in two accidents both where the driver was on a cell phone and did not look when changing lanes and i was directly next to them.
in the video you will notice both drivers hit max speed on a solid stretch that had one entrance for a construction site that you could easily see from 1/4 mile away if there was another vehicle coming to intersection. all of the access on the right of road was bare construction/ parking areas with no cars or traffic. only the stoplight was of concern and there was clearly no one coming to the intersection. both cars slowd down to speed limit when near areas that there could possibly be an issue with a car coming on to the road.
Limitations
Safe operating speeds can exceed the design speed. Example reasons include:
A design speed is not a representative speed of an entire roadway. Rather, the road's design speed is limited by its most restrictive feature, such as a curve, bottleneck, or hill.
Actual roadway design may exceed the design specifications.
Current parameters for determining the design speed assumes the capacity of outdated automotive technology.
The stated design speed for a given road is usually not changed. Therefore, the design speed on older roads, which were calculated with older methodologies, may not factor in improved automotive technology which can maintain designed safety at higher travel speeds.
In commonly accepted engineering practice, design speed is considered a "first guess" at an appropriate speed limit.
a minvan going 120 = wreck nsx going 120 = fun
it is all ablut the car and driver (knowing what you car and tires can safely handle)
the stated purpose of track day (driving school) is to learn what your car can handle on the real road. hopefully this will make you a better driver.
i would hate to see some of you live in Dubai where the limit is 100mph. you couldn't handle it..
