For anyone thinking of buying a Z06 vs NSX

Interesting thread. My NSX refused to crank on the FIRST DAY I owned it. Still feel like a lucky dog to have it.

You must be pretty new around here. You are going to call a Z06 a peice of crap because it wouldnt start. Big deal. Have you ever heard of a snap-ring? Do a little research before you make stupid statements like that.

Your reasoning is severely flawed NetViper. The snap-ring failure was on a limited # of 91-92 NSX. This was Acura's first year of making the NSX transmission pieces (snap-rings were not produced in same order as vehicles).
Since then the NSX has been known to be reliable. Let me ask this:

How long has Chevy been making Vettes?
How long has Chevy had to fix electrical problems?
How reasonable is it to have your car gone for a week and no one at the dealership 1 1/2 hours from home knows what is wrong with the car?
Shouldn't Chevy dealers be aware of software issues since there are almost 60,000 produced every year?
If GM's Onstar service is for an emergency then why would they take 2 1/2 hours to respond to the scene?
Why make a car that won't start when a small unit in the door malfunctions?
Would you feel comfortable taking a Vette cross country?

To say a dead battery in the NSX is comparable to the Vette issues would be a mistake IMO.

BTW - This thread was not intended to be negative, but a sharp statement of my personal experience and feelings. I took my dad to pick up the Vette yesterday. We took country roads home and he smoked me on every type road imaginable. After that he decided to keep it (for now). I guess 500+ hp trumps out unreliability.

Didn't we just conclude a Vette vs. NSX thread recently? Why is this coming up again so soon?

Corvettes are a dime a dozen.
Just count how many you see in any given day.
Nothing special....just a go fast piece of junk.

Hey I love the nsx, like the next guy.

But I have to agree with netviper, your making one of best sports cars, sound like a car with some horrible quality issue, when infact in terms of dollar to maintenance to performance ratio, they are hard to match, plus the 2006 corvette z06 is a great looking car as well as performing car.

Look at Ferrari, they have been making cars for decades as well, have you ever seen the simple items that continuously fail (items that dont even fail on cars costing 1/10th the price, like ford, chevy, honda, etc..), and how costly they are to fix, even routine maintenance is pathetic in terms of cost. You pay 3 times as much as you would pay for a corvette to purchase one, but pay 3 times as much in quality maintenance. I dont hear you starting a post complaining and degrading how many things can go wrong with a Ferrari, even when you paid 3 times the price of a z06. And i am sure you know that the your dad's corvette z06 that your complaining about , is much more reliable then these cars and the majority of exotics, at 1/3 the price, and will beat 95% of them in performance...How do you like that?

I see this happening on many forums....seeing the Ferrari guys degrading the NSX, oh its a honda, oh lack of horsepower...etc..etc...

Same thing is happening here, oh the corvette has electrical problem, oh they are everywhere, oh they are junk, oh the inside looks cheap... on and on and on....

The NSX is an awesome car, and so is the corvette. The positives on these cars far outweigh the negatives, specially the corvette ( price, maintenance, performance) etc...

So to generalize about the corvette like that , is simply ignorant.

Do corvette owners generally go to Porsche, Ferrari, or bmw forums and try to size them up too? Or does it seem like they enjoy trying to beat up on japanese cars just ALITTLE too much? Is it because we are the closest competitor, or is it more of a society thing? I'm seriously curious.

Your right....I shouldn't have called it junk...they are actually a good car for the money. They look good and run strong. Probably one of the best buys around for the money with power and handling. I had thought about buying one awhile back until I started counting how many of them I saw in a day. Not just ZO6's, but all Corvettes in general. Just to many of them out there for me which is why I decided on the NSX. The NSX may not be as fast or handle as well stock, but I still think the NSX is much more of a special car with better quality and craftmenship than the Corvette will ever be.

i agree with most of what you say.
i would never own a ferrari or a corvette or even an M5 solely on the basis of reliability issues.

Speaking of Z06? I came inches of buying one last week an 03 Z06 50th anniversary. I stopped and thought about resale value, and handling. How fast can you really go on the CA freeways without killing yourself or going to jail for speeding over 110mph?

I like the idea of going 0-60 in 5 seconds. I'm almost done closing a deal with a 95 Brooklands Green NSX with blk interior.

Wish me luck!

your right.....nsx is one special car.....and i agree with you....i bought them because of how rare they are.....i like rare exotics...i owned an s600 w140...that they made 14 in its last year...and i currently own a bentley turbo......i do..because of rare factor.....to me ..thats what is attractive about them......and to be reliable as well is a plus.....but i will admit the corvette is a beast.....

Net viper is correct as well.....do a search on the 2008 corvette with that special interior....wow...simply awesome....

:)
