Engine speculations

From Mr. Ito today. 3.5 liter V6 - Hmmm...

A three-motor hybrid powertrain for top-end models such as the Acura NSX sports car and RLX sedan. This system uses one motor in the powerplant, plus electric motors at both rear wheels to deliver independent torque for tighter cornering. The first motor is connected to the engine, provides additional torque to the wheels and recharges the battery. The second and third motors help power the car as well as provide sharper handling and additional regenerative-braking capability to recharge the battery.

It gets a new fuel-injected 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a newly developed seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission.

The NSX will be built in Ohio and go on sale in 2014.

I thought the front wheels not the rear wheels were driven by the other two electric motors

This has been discussed before. In the RLX, the engine is in the front so the electric motors drive the rear wheels. In the NSX, the engine is in the rear so the electric motors are in the front driving the front wheels.

Also read about the RLX maybe having rear wheel steering and local Acura dealer confirmed it but said it would only be on the 2wd not SH-AWD version.

For what it's worth, he also said they're trying to keep the Canadian price under $129k. There's a big get together for dealers in Vegas in the next month (where I think the concept or Avengers car was shown last year) and he expected to hear more then. He also is expecting the RLX next spring so if the engine and SH-AWD drive is ready for prod'n by then, it shouldn't take that much longer to do the NSX development .. unless the initial RLX launch is only 2wd first .. SH-AWD later.
