I don't know anything about the car in question, but in general, this is called title washing and is not particularly difficult. It is also VERY common. It takes advantages of inconsistancies between state laws and procedures. See:

I seem to recall, back a few years when I was looking for an NSX, talking to an Acura Dealer in Portland, Oregon.

I was going to have a car brought to him to check out. When I told him it was a '97 Spa Yellow car, her asked me if XXXXX was the seller (I forgot the dealer's name). I told him it was and he told me to stay away from the car; it had been "wrecked".

When I asked him how the car could have the clear title the seller had claimed, the dealer told me Oregon law was like that. Re-build the car, re-inspect it, and re-title it. Simple as that.

I no longer consider ANY car from Oregon after that episode.

Except this time, Wicked is actually admitting the salvage title (theft recovery though, not accident). Funny, the salvage deal must have happened between March of this year and now, since he swore it was clean back then. Someone must have stolen it in the meantime.

Hmmm, I wonder if he ever called all his lawyers

I was wondering if someone could run the carfax on this car, so we have it as reference in the future. I'm curious as to what it actually shows.
The VIN, according to the ebay auction, is JH4NA1158MT001158.

I remember checking this car out about 2 years ago. I emailed the seller at the time and got the VIN. I ran a carfax and it showed 105k miles at that time. I wish I had the old emails and carfax, but I deleted all of them when I got my NSX.

Well of course its back again http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2447578525&category=5337

At least the past 100 :p times he has listed the car, he listed it as a salvaged title. Of course this is after he lashed out at some of the people here with that lawer stuff. Guess his lawer must have told him the car was salvaged too.

The pathetic thing is that he still keeps holding out for $29.9K for the car, and the highest bids keep getting lower every time he re-lists it.

If he had just accepted one of the higher bids a few months back he could have got close to that. The last few times he has listed it, it hasn't even reached $20k.

I am still amazed that he hasn't just looked around at the reality of his situation. Anyone can go to Ecocar.com and get a wrecked 2001 NSX for less than $15k, put between $12K and $15K in parts into it (depending on what needs to be done and the quality of work you want done), and have a half decent 2001 NSX to run around in for roughly $30k. SO WHY IN THE WORLD would ANYONE pay $30K for a wrecked 1991 NSX?

Sorry for the rant, It just still blows my mind every time I see this junker re-listed.
