How about a run to the Dragon? Last one I went to in the spring we had 5 or 6 NSXs and a pile of other cars. I'm thinking we stay at Cherokee Friday night and Saturday and drive all over. There is a big Corvette group that has a 300 mile run planned for Saturday.

There are two Holiday Inns in Cherokee. This is the older one that is FURTHER away from the casino. Not the Holiday Inn Express at the Casino.

Rooms are about $96/night on the internet. I called and they said $105 by telephone for 2 dbl beds. If you tell them you have AAA, they will knock off $5. They never actually check.

Here is a rough itinerary:

On Sat morning we will depart Holiday Inn in Cherokee NC (reservation #1 828 497 9181) at 6 AM, breakfast at Burger King and hit the road by 6:30!

On Saturday we will do about 320+ miles of twisties, including three passes on the DRAGON(318 turns in 11 miles), but that's not the best road! , one pass on the Cherohola, route 360 from Tellico plains to Venore and the rest on also great roads. We should return to Cherokee about 4PM. Yes, we will stop for lunch at a great place!

For Sunday, I am looking at some new roads that look interesting, heading down into Georgia and maybe parts of South Carolina if I am reading the map correctly...trying to keep it to around a 200 mile day to just kind of unwind and relax...maybe sleep late Sunday morning before we hit the road..

It is....possible that the Blade Might attend. Did it in spring, was nice meeting other fellow NSXers like Mirrorshades. Keep me posted on the plans as I will be coming all the way from MIAMI

Be nice to drive up with another NSXer but the Miami NSXers here are well......probably not up for such a drive.

I might be interested, also.

Please post more details as you have them. Some of us "crazy people from another region" just might join in.

You are from my city....you heading down?

You might want to start an attendance roster for this one....

(*WOOT!! WOOT!! This is my 4,000th post!!)

Okay. Update time. The main group will be leaving from Cherokee Burger King at about 6:30 AM. I thin that this is a great idea b/c we'll at least get a couple of good quality hours in before the others get out on the road. From there we will *hopefully* be meeting up with the other half of the expedition in Robbinsville.

For those sleep sensitive individuals, we can arrange a meeting time somewhere in the middle. The plan is to finish up back in Cherokee at 4:30 PM so we should certainly be able to hook up somewhere.

As for you locals, do you want to meet up Friday night to shoot the breeze a little while before the main run Sat?

WOO-HOOO!! Okay...I can get the 15th and 16th (Saturday and Sunday) off for this. I will have to work on the 14th (Friday) and then drive down from Indianapolis that night. What is the final agenda for this event??

First, let me suggest if you haven't done it, go to http://www.tailofthedragon.com
Click on Deals Gap and on maps and you will find tons of fascinating info as well as being able to see where we are planning to go and learn some of the history and folklore

Looks like there are "three groups", staying in Robbinsville, Cherokee and Saturday drive ins.

Friday night
Robbinsville and Cherokee aren't that far apart, and it looks like we all will be arriving at our destinations by 4pm or so on Friday, so here's the plan...Friday night dinner and get together at Navantahola Village, I'll have more info on this shortly. We have eaten here before and it is really quite nice. We will gather there around 6Pm. Again. more later

MORE INFO http://www.nvnc.com/dining/menu.cfm

While you are at this web site, you can click around and check the place out. I have called them and alerted them that we are coming on Friday Oct 14th. The closer we can get there to 5:30, the sooner we may be able to get our food. They have a bar and I have requested they be prepared to do separate checks

Saturday Morning:

The Cherokee group has two options! I) get up early, hit the road at 6am, breakfast at BK and then 441 south to Franklin where we pick up 28 north toward the dragon, this road is actually as good as the dragon and will get us in the mood. We will take 28 up to 143 and then take it into Robbinsville and meet up there with the folks at Microtel sometime around 8:30 am

Any Cherokee or Gatlinberg or drive in folks not wanting to get up early can leave Cherokee around 7:45, take 19 to 129 and head north to Robbinsville

From Robbinsville we will pick up 143, Cherohola Pkwy, great road reaching close to 6000 feet elevation. This will take us down into Tellico Plains and route 360 (my favorite go fast road ) on to route 411 for a short way to 172 and then on to the Dragon in the area of the Foothills Parkway. We plan to make an east west pass of the Dragon and end up at the motel/restaurant/gas station at "crossroads of time" (intersection of 28 and 129)

FOR THE SATURDAY DRIVE INS, we anticipate being in the neighborhood of the Dragon and Foothills Parkway around noon time and at the crossroads in time around 12:15 (hehehe, that would be a new record!) to 12:30

We can have lunch at the motel restaurant and then due a few more passes of the Dragon before going elsewhere, more on that later)

More to come, but just wanted to let you know wassup!

I was planning on just going up with the Vettes when they were setting their trip up months ago and before I heard there was a NSX group going up.

Unfortunately for me I'm going down to do some insurance work in LA (however fortunately for the LA residents) and won't be able to make it. :frown:

You guys try to keep the Import vs Domestic jokes to a minimum since you're going to be eating Dinner Friday night and Breakfast Saturday morning with the Vette guys. Have fun!
