Interesting. Would like to know pricing. Nice find.
What is dog gears? Does it dispense with use of clutch?
I got mail from PPGgearbox. They told me like this.

I could be mistaken but strait cut gears are a lot stronger and hold up better for High HP cars that the OEM gears just cant handle. At the cost of being very noisy and a lil harder to engage. They are for purpose built races cars. (Not for the street)
straight cut gears are noisy as fook...and for $12k 
The pic shows helical cut gears. Anyhow 12K is a joke.
Dog gears are great for repeated abuse and racecars, but at 60k (having to make a run of 5 sets minimum) I doubt that many will ever see the benefit from this setup. Sorry SFDreamer

NSX it would have no benefit. Though on the Formula Mazda they are schaweeeet.
Strange they told me $10K & they made just one for a Russian owner.
Modena Engineering will do a 5 speed Dogbox & Race LSD Ring & pinion for $12K(last time i asked) & they will assemble the transmission for you. no minimum orders required.
This is what i'll probably go for, they've done 2 for a friend of mine with no breakages since they fitted it. (twin turbo)

I'm not sure if stragight cut gears are a lot stronger than a modern helical cut gear but they are very noisy and would be annoying in a street car. The OEM trans and gears with good assembly and tolerances (like from Applied Motorsports) are holding up to continued abuse in road racing applications with 800whp+.
Dog-rings (aka: crash boxes) replace the synchros, make shifting quicker and also the clutch isn't needed for shifting, but they have a loud and forceful engagement and don't like to be shifted slowly -so probably not good for street use unless you shift quickly and don't mind more noise.
My wish (now that I have almost double the power) is for someone to make the 5th gear at 2kRPMs while I'm at 65MPH.

Their website lists HELICAL cut dog set (dog rings).
Ratio:
2.900 / 2.150 / 1.600 / 1.200 / 0.900
Stock:
3.071 / 1.800 / 1.230 / 0.967 / 0.771
JDM:
3.071 / 1.952 / 1.4000 / 1.033 / 0.771
5th gear is a lot less over-driven which is much better for racing use (but higher freeway rpm.
It would be pretty close to taking a US 5speed and shifting everything down a tooth (4th becomes 5th, 3rd becomes 4th, 2nd becomes 3rd) and the new 2nd gear would be much shorter and better on tight corners even moreso than the JDM ratio and 1st stays useless.
Or another way to look at it: It would be similar to the 2nd-5th of an S2000 gear ratio.

**Basically the difference between the US and JDM ratio (2nd-4th) would be the difference between the JDM to these PPG ratios from 2nd-4th AND 5th (being shorter). For those who have switched from the US to JDM ratios can imagine that it would be quite good for racing up to its 161ish mph top speed (compared to the US and JDM 188mph).
