Do you guys let your friends drive your NSX

I only let the friends that could afford to pay for any damage they may do. Before they drive the car I always say. "Pretty to look at, precious to hold, if you break it, consider it SOLD!"

May I suggest to NEVER valet your car. I never do anymore but my first car was my dad's 1968 Mustang GT, I had it valet parked at a mall in Scottsdale, when I came back, I found myself escorted to my car, when I looked inside, I saw the ignition switch (part where you put the key into) lying on the carpet, I had to start the car with a long piece of metal lying on the ground in the parking lot by reaching in far enough and twisting it to start the car. I think they should be more selective at least in hiring these valet's. As I was trying to find something to start the car with, I heard the sound of a clutch burning up only to see a Porsche 911 come around the garage, and speed up to its owner.
As for letting people drive my car for something in return, yes, I let my friend drive my NSX around an empty parking lot in Chandler, and it was implied that I could take his brand new Yamaha R1 bike around and tear it up. (By the way, I love the sound of my NSX when I am a bystander). I usually will let friends take the NSX around the block if I know they are capable of driving it (which is not too many people).

I have let most of my friends drive mine. I am always willing to let people I know drive it. There are a couple of friends, though, that haven't because they would only bore me with comparisons to other cars and tell me how they have a friend that has a Corvette or Viper that could blow it away (yawn). Does anyone else have "friends" that always know someone that has something better than what you have? Very annoying.

Several mothers at work have told me that their teen sons and husbands have made special trips to the office just to look at my NSX. I always offer to take them for a ride or unlock it to let them look at it more closely. I do the same in parking lots and at the gas stations (no rides for strangers though

).

I haven't seen another NSX in Evansville in 7 years so I realize most people here don't get many opportunities to see one up close. Educating people about NSX's is the least I can do.

The only way I have ever been able to drive an NSX is through the grace of an owner. (In this case, my Dad). No-one was more surprised than me the first time he handed me the keys to let me take my Wife for a ride(I didn't have to ask). I drive with twice the care I normally would when I am in the NSX. I think it is a great show of trust, and I would never violate that.

If I want to really go fast, I guess I should get my own! (Someday soon, after college...)

Yes, I let responsible friends with sports car experience drive my car (almost always with me in it). In return they often return the favor and I have driven some interesting cars in return bacause of my generosity.

Absolutly NO VALET parking (are you crazy), ever! And no guys named Ferris with day's off either!

That's Gary, right? He's great.

I do not usually post messages on the forums but, I wanted to say that I am one of the guys that got to drive an NSX. About a year ago I got to go take one on a 10 mile test drive, with the owner in the car, and fell in love with the car. I was in the market for a car at the time and had my mind on a Turbo Supra or a C5. I had never really considered an NSX until I dove it. Long story short, I now own a silver one.

So I would like to say thanks to all you guys out there who let others drive your NSXs. Had I not driven one, I would most likely be in a Supra right now. And yes I do let others that I know drive my car with me in it.

Same here!!!!!!!!! Huy, a fellow poster can vouch for me that I too was looking for a Supra (for two years), until I borrowed an NSX for a weekend. Within 6 days I had one for my very own

I let my younger (19) brother borrow it (usually when he want to impress a date but NEVER to just hang with his friends) The way I look at it is: there’s a reason for insurance, the car can always be replaced.

When I have asked some my friends if they wanted to drive my car, some of them say.. " No I better not...If I drive your car I won't want to drive my own car anymore".. Whats up with that? or they say.. " NO, I will want to buy one then".. You got that right. Those same people didn't even want to take a ride in it, but they think it is a great looking car. I just don't get it. But my friends that have driven it don't want to stop driving. Thats another problem.

Any of you "sure i have let others drive it" folks out there in the San Diego area?? love to take one for a drive..considering buying one but sure would like to drive one first...

Well, if it were not for my boss lending me his, I most likly would not own one now. My view of it is that we are each blessed to own such a machine and it is our duty to share. I even went so for as to have a "come drive the NSX" party when I first got it

In the end of the day, it is just a car, and an insured one at that. I dont worry about it much because then the car owns you and not the other way around. Take care.

Many of my friends drove my nsx (or my old one) over the past years. Almost all of them own a "quite" powerful car (from sport sedan like WRX to street legal race car like Porsche GT3) so I did not fear they were not able to change gear...
wink.gif
(anyway in Europe manual transimission is much more common than auto). Of course I am always the passenger in those drive!!!

I also "tried" the I-offer-you-drive-my-nsx-then-*probably*-you-will-offer-me-to-drive-your-'exotic' technique
wink.gif
and it worked in many cases but not were I most wanted! (my work colleague F360...
