Dal Disaster

Again, thank you all for the kindness echo'ed.
I have sent Lud the information to post, I'm letting him handle it anyway he wants. For those monitoring this thread, DAL has come up with a good way that supporters can contribute as well as a way DAL can give back (which we felt was important)
Snapshot of details:
Individual Sponsor Program
Through this program any individual can contribute to the team. In return DAL Motorsports will place your choice of a name, business or saying on the red NSX racecar for the remainder of the season. Examples: ”The John Smith Family”, “NSXWIDGET INC”, “Got Vtech?”
The blocks start at $100 for a 3x6 inch space.
Larger sizes are available for multiple lines of text.

The largest donations (top 3) will receive an autographed picture and autographed body panel. Also, larger contributions will entitle the donor to benefits already offered in the corporate sponsors program
Anonymous donations will be honored.
Lud will provide full details but the easiest way will probobly be through Paypal with email being [email protected].
It should be active now.
Thanks again!!

Just a quick update! Thanks to Lud/NSX Prime and all of you, we have started to see the DAL Motorsports ISP participant list grow! We are very thankful and truely touched. We have recieved just over $700 and are looking to have everyone's space on the car for the next race.
Thanks again for keeping us in your thoughts!

How did the last race go? I watched on SpeedTV last Saturday evening but was upset that I did not see the NSX. Really wish they would give you guys more airtime and it'd be great to see all the contributors names on the car get some airtime as well. Can't wait to read the race review.

First, thanks for watching and supporting Grand-Am and DAL. Last couple of weeks were very disheartening for us...especially me. As most of you know we just completed installing the larger 3.2ltr and 6-spd gear box in the Red racecar. While Miami-Homestead is a roaval, which tends to favor higher horse power cars, we felt confident with our new powerplant we'd hold our own. Then comes the threat of Ivan the around 9/4, forecasters say this storm will hit Miami sometime on Sunday the 12th.... the day of the originally scheduled Rolex race.
Grand-Am posted a note on Tues (7th) mid morning, a day I've played hooky from work to pack the rig and get everything readied to leave on Wed, saying that they have delayed the race a week which will now have practice on the 17th, Qual and GAC race on the 18th and Rolex race on the 19th. Well... that was easy for them to change the date. Now that I have purchased 6 crew member air tix made car and hotel reservations, have everyone coordinated to get that Friday off, we all have to scramble to make this happen a week later. Well bad news... 3 of the 6 crew will not be able to make it, so we'll be running a VERY lean crew. THEN, Grand-Am announces on Monday the 13th (after Ivan decided to take in some sun and relax a bit around Jamaica.. and needless to say was quite far from Miami) that the new schedule would only feature an 1.25hr of practice and race... qual would be determined by team points... no Friday practice day. Ok, nothing like paying to get less the amount of track time one would get from a Chin event... which is 1/4 of the cost of a GAC race entry. But damnit, we didn't get to race at MidO because of our engine failure during qualifying so we were bound and determined to go! Then Ivan decided he'd visit the US. Coming from Dallas, TX we obviously travel I10 to get to FL. We needed to leave on Thurs the 16th to make it for rig parking..etc Well, the storm was projected to land Tues, then Wed, then Thurs. Crap!! Now we could only hope that the storm would weaken and get thru the pan handle with out major incident. Everyone knows the rest of the story. An I10 major bridge was out, trees were down, alt roads had debris and trees causing closures. We quickly recalculated a drive thru Atlanta to the east cost then down, but Ivan quickly moved north which would again put us in the middle of it. Then there was those pesky tornado warnings... and everyone including my mom reminding me how we already lost a car with a trailer on the highway and how this storm wasn't something to take lightly. So, thurs PM I made the call to stand down. Deep in my heart feeling we would make it there somehow, but knowing the potential risk of not making the race due to traffic and road conditions.
Sat. I took the rig to Atlanta because 1. I had a tix returning from there on Sunday that Delta wouldn't allow me to change and 2. Rob had some other work he wanted to do on the car before VIR.
This turned out to be a cool weekend, because Chin Motorsports held a DE at Roebling, aprox 3.5hrs from Atlanta that Rob and I decided to test at on Sunday. Chin Motorsports was gracious enough to accommodate our one day schedule and WOW... what a cool format. This was the first Chin event I have been to and I was very impressed with the amount of track time and courtesy shown by the beginners and advanced drivers... We'll definitely try to make more of these events!
So although we were not able to make Miami, we are set for VIR Sept 30-Oct 3rd (GAC race on Sat 2nd) We invite the local NSXers/NSX enthusiasts to come out and spend some time with the team... We'd love to see you there!
