That is awesome!

Is that SOS console? Could you give me some info for installation costs, and what model number the alpine player is?

Thanks bro

ravi

edit: I wanted to add that I'm talking about the single din dvd alpine.

Yes it is a SOS console but I am waiting for my Mp3 hard disc to come in so I can mount it above the radio. It will look double din when its done. The radio is a alpine d900 its there newest model it cost around 1,800 usd. I dont have a total break down yet I will post it when I get done.

Very nice. You have good taste. I'm planning on getting the Alpine F450 5 Channel amp as well. I'm currently installing the Alpine 7996 DVD player and the OEM nav pod with Alpine TME-M760 monitor. I might even add the Alpine TV module since my friend decided he wont use it and might sell it to me. Did you have to cut the back of the glove box out to mount the PS2? I too have a 92 so I don't have an airbag, but I'm suprised it fit in there.

As for the doubole DIN, have you measured it and made sure it will fit? The reason I ask is because I too was planning on a 2DIN setup with my 7996 on top and the PXA-H700 proccessor right under it. If you look at my test fit picture below, you can see there is not enough room with the ash tray in place. I will have to cover the ash tray and loose it. What I did was remove the top plate with mounting bracket off the OEM deck and replaced it on my 7996. It is nearly where the top of the OEM deck mounted. There really is not much space for me to go any higher as you have that metal mounting bar running accross the top. I'm sure you will work it out though. Anyway, your set up is very nice. By the way, don't mind the crappy picture as I just snapped it real fast and this was just a test fit so nothing is painted yet.

How did you mount your monitor? I had to use alot of silcone to hold it in place. The double din is a little trickey but if you take off the cage and strap the two together, then wedge the back of the two so they dont touch. It pushes the fronts together and it fits.
I am not to happy with the tv module as the reception sucks.
I had to cut the bottom of the glove box totaly out. The ps2 drops in and it sits on the metal frame. I did take out the trim that goes under the glove box so it had more room. I only drilled a hole in the back to run the wires.

Yours looks great! The colours make it look like a factory deck.
The amp is nice I am going to add a few more speakers soon.

To mount the monitor to the nav pod I actually used some JB weld to mold the plastic trim plate to the nav pod itself. Although you can't see it from the picture, you know how the nav pod sort of curves where the trim plate buldges in the middle so it doesn't fit flush? What I did was grind off the outer edges of the plastic Alpine trim ring to match the contour of the navpod. Now it mouts flush. I followed that up with some JB weld all around the trim to mold it to the pod. Now, I just inserted the monitor and cage and it locks into the trim. We will see how it holds up over time, but just from tugging at it it seems very sturdy. I don't think I will have any problems with it coming loose.

As for mounting it on the dash, I definately don't want to use the screws, so I will probably fill in the botton and use heavy duty trim and molding double stick tape. Hopefully that will work. I think it will since I just slapped it in unbolted as a test and while driving around it never really moved, so i think the tape will work out.

I also removed the amber film from the AC LCD like you did. I have been trying different blue filters to get the blue to match the Alpine LCD, but I haven't found the perfect match yet, I'm getting close though:D

If you can see my gauges, it is the reverse glow ones from ebay. The face at night lights up amber via the overhead lights, while the numbers light up in blue. I have that whole blue and amber theme like the Alpine deck.

OT: But I was wondering what happened to the front lip near the end of your pictures? What did you do to snap it like that

Ever since the weekend you got me browsing around and looking up information about NSX's and I was just searching this forum (only good one so far) and saw your name... kinda crazy but I just registerd... going to check out that 92 today:cool:

Looking good man! What did you do on the speaker end of things?
Also, can you give details of the hard-disc & how to integrate it - does this have a controller & can you integrate to any head unit? I havea Sony ......

I'd love it if you could send that broken front lip to me, if you don't want it anymore. Problem is, I'm in the UK, I'd pay for the shipping of course, if you want to go to the trouble of sending it.

Where did you get the film Chris? Mine is just removed, but sounds interesting to play with the colours a little bit

For spekers I installed a set of Boston Aqustics 6.5. Not to happy with them, we are going to ad another set in the doors this winter to see if this will help.

I used those plastic report films like we used to use in High School. You know, the one that you slide that plastic slide rule at the end to hold the papar. What I have been doing was looking at all the different colors of similar products like that at the office stores. So far I've found a fairly dark blue that if I double it up looks similar to the Alpine blue, but it is still not dark enough. That Alpine blue is really deep and almost purple like I think.

I can honestly recommend the CDT Eurosport Competition series - I am delighted with the performance
You can also see them in my installation here

I was still hoping for some info on the mp3 hard-drive install/integration - how do you load to it? My Sony has a memory stick - it would great if I could somehow utilize that - don't think there's an external o/p from it though.

p.s. Really good audio forum Elite Car Audio as a good reference for audiophiles.

I like the concept of the double DIN option for the SoS center console, but I don't care for the brushed aluminum look. Takes something away for the rest of the interior. IMO, it clashes.
To each his own though. :D

Man that is one clean azz install!
Awesome job!
I'd like to be able to do something like that on my NSX 2B in the future.

what else is left ??
full list of specs ??

It was painted the same as my Prodrive wheels. I am not to happy with it but I still have to add the Mp3 hard disc and cut the hole above it. So I will repaint it brushed aluminum and see if I like it. If all else fails got back to the stock paint.
The 2003s are a dark silver that looks nice I might try that as well.

I dont have to much info on the Mp3 since its realese date is August 1st. It is a 16gb removeable hard disc that you can connect to your computer using the usb interface. You can store 3000 songs in Mp3 or wma format. It is a din mounted pice that you remove the front panel to install the hard disc. In my case it would hook up via the Ai-interface but it does have rca outputs.
My d900 runs everything in my car inc my playstation. At this point there is no mention of a remote setup but the rep for Alpine said it should be comming down the pipe in the next couple of months. I hope this helps.

Ps. The hard disc is about the size of a small cd changer cassete.

IMO stock black would look better. :D

Was yours black? On my 92 is is a kind of dark bronze color. My SOS console is now painted a semi gloss black which has a nice color to it with no glossy glare. The problem is, I will have to paint all the door switch/AC vent panels and ash tray cover black as well.
