After flushing, refilling and bleeding. It recomend to warm up the engine until the cooling fan on at least twice but my cooling fan never be on even after half hour idle with heat or air conditioning on.Also I go for a drive for 45 mins and still the fan is not on.I keep an eye on the temperature. It shows a little bit below half.Is it normal that the fan never kick on?I thought as long as air condtioning on the cooling fan is on right away or will overheat?I know The temprature is working because when car is not drivng the needle point at the bottom and when driving, its temperature needle is going up to almost half. How can i check if cooling fan motor is working?
Thanks

If your temp gauge is where you say, (just under the middle) and the coolant level is good, it should be fine.

I was thinking you may be refering to the engine bay fan(early models) which never comes on:).

If you are concerned whether the fan is working or not, and if the needle will reach half or over, try driving it hard and above 5000 RPMs (ie, VTEC range) for a few miles and then turn the engine off before it cools down from coasting.

When I did my coolant flush, I found that if the bleeding procedure wasn't followed 100% (and it doesn't hurt to do it a couple of times) the fan didn't come on... I'm not sure why. It might be because the coolant didn't make it to the radiator  or wherver the resistor is for the fan.

Also, the service manual has a cooling system diagnosis procedure.

I agree with Larry that if the bar is below halfway... you're probably ok, but if the cooling fan doesn't turn on for good, that is not a good thing.

In short 1.) Look at the service manual troubleshooting procedure 2.) May want to try the bleeding procedure EXACTLY. I was confused at first and had to read and re-read and try a few times before getting it exactly right.

Also - I was able to get my cooling fan to come on if I just let the car idle for a long time.. maybe 20 minutes - 30 minutes.

If there is a suspicion that the radiator may have an air pocket, just open the top bleeder on the radiator WHEN THE CAR IS COLD. You will know immediately if there is coolant or air in there;). Watch out for the mess...

the coolant system can work out minor air bubbles.

depending on outside temp, your fan may not cycle on, however if you wanted to double check to make sure your fan works, you can use a 12volt direct to turn on the fan or you can test via the relay.

use the walk through i the factory manual.

Thanks for more imformations. There are coolant coming out of the radiator bleeder and i know for sure there is enough coolant because draining was more than 2 gallons and refilling almost 3 gallons. So far the temperature bar still almost half way after drivng today and fan still not on.I will check the relay or bypass the fan to see if it is working or not.
Thanks again

it sounds like he has been cruising it, what I would be concerned with is an air pocket causing the fan temp sensor to not work(due to air surrounding sensor) if the system isnt blead right this does happen like you say, not really an issue for a cruiser as the air "should" eventually work itself out. however, if you are planning to do and track days or hpde events in the near future I would definately take the time to get this right.

Hi Hrant,
Yes,I was cruising but to get 5000 rpm in city, I will have to drive either 1st gear or 2nd gear for a few miles like you said.I have to try your way if the fan is still not on.
Thanks
