Comparing 360 w/ NSX :)

It always kills me when i hear guys who don't own ferrari's to talk about build quality ect.. I have a 355 f1 and a NSX and the ferrari is heads above the NSX. build quality? look at the interior of the two, the ferrari is much nicer. The nsx is a great car, but not an equal to the ferrari. P.S the f1 system is an excellent system.

Hmm.. This is a F360 vs NSX thread, and not a F355 vs NSX thread, LOL... There is another thread about F355 vs NSX.

http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39463

BTW: The F360 is definetely faster than a F355, no problems keeping up with F355's at the track, only a F355 Challenge will pull on me. On the other hand a F360 will pull on my NA2 NSX.

Somehow I think that Ferrari overrated the F355 engine, or they have a lot more drivetrain loses on the F355 compared to the F360.

BTW: I would not consider buying a F355 would much rather buy a F360 instead (not that I would though..)

Anyways, just my 2 cents.

Ken

Not sure who was driving the Ferrari, but a stock nsx will not beat a stock 355. I own the nsx because its a good car, i also own a few porsches and others. Yes, the 360 is a better faster car than the 355, thats not to say the 355 is a slow or bad car.

Hmm.. then why does the 355 have issues with the leather on the dashboards shrinking and looking like crap? Why does the car break down all the time? (see nsxfiles.com). The build quality of the 355 is better than the 348, but it is no NSX.

Do you own a 355? or have you just been told this? Like i have said, the NSX is a great car, but its not a Ferrari. There is a reason they will not invest in a new NSX. The leather in mine is perfect, so is the dash and console.

No, I do not own one. I have read about the problems on ferrarichat.

Also, have you read nsxfiles.com?

That would be like people talking bad about the NSX who have never driven or owned one, i don't think we would pay to much attention to them.

I have driven two 355's and know owners of them, and I would agree the interior "looks" nice ,but start to use it normaly and it is more delicate as well as more fragile.I still believe that the nsx interior will stand up better to abuse better than the 355,and I have abused mine plenty! The 355 is a sexy car no boubt, but It could never be modded to do what my 96 nsx can at the track, and still survive. The few instructers I run with who own 355 challenge cars would agree with me,and they know I'm just as fast or faster. Not flaming here just giving you my experience,I love all sports cars, but we have to understand each cars limitations. :biggrin:Sorry guys for allowing this hijacking to continue, back to the 360,which I have never driven :frown:

I have run both my NSX and 355 at thunderhill and am faster with the 355. As far as mods go, i have seen a lot of guys on this board spend some good $$ and IMO, have not gotten much HP in return on there NSX, maybe a supercharger is the exception, although not always. Not many Ferrari guys will mod there cars as they feel it will take away the value of the car. Exhaust and wheels are an exception. I to like all cars new and old and they all are different but i suspect if you lined up the 2 and asked someone to choose which one they would take the Ferrari would win most of the time. Yes, it does cost more.

vince

vdavie, if you want to compared the built quaility of F355 vs NSX let's get real. The F355 is put together like a kit car, I have taken apart the interiors of (2) F355s and it' a POS as far as built quaility is concerned.

F1 system is great? Have you driven the SMG M3? If you have, i seriously doubt you would be saying how great the Ferrari F1 is.

I have yet to seen one F355 without the dash shrinking problem and the HVAC control console bubble issue. Take some pics of your interior as I would love to see how it is suppose to look.

Btw I am a Ferrari Lover, but let's get the fact straight :)

Again, someone who does not own one. I don't recall saying the NSX build quality was bad in fact the reason i got my NSX was because i knew i didnt have to worry about the build quality. The Ferrari is just a different car, one that, IMO stirs the soul a bit more than the NSX.

Hi Vince,

My NA2 NSX is not stock, a stock NA2 NSX will be slower than a stock F355.

Just curious what laptimes with each one of the cars? A F355 Challenge seems to put down more power than a F355. I know what F355 Challenge laptimes are at Thill with both the bypass as well as without the bypass. I also run with JC (owner of F355) at the track maybe you know him.

Ken

i'll have to get the time sheets at home, i have an exhaust system on my 355 so the hp may be about the same. the fastest car i have as far as track times go is my 914-6 with a 95 993 motor built and stroked to 3.8 by jerry woods. that car is the funnest car i own. Are you in sunnyvale? i also live in sunnyvale.

Once again, you have no clue. Go read the site. Both of the guys bought 355's. So, that would be people talking about them THAT DO OWN THEM.

Also, don't think I am bashing the 355. I love it. I think it is one of the best looking cars ever made. I would love to own one someday.

Some of you are judging the car, and i think to do that you need to own and drive the car for a period of time before you can do that. Taking apart the interior or talking to people is not the same as owning and driving a car. There is a reason there is a waiting list, some years everytime a new Ferrari comes out.

Vince,

Yes I also live in Sunnyvale, I sent you a PM before (maybe you did not check it), I'm the guy who also owns a 04 GT3 and posts at rennlist under the same username 2slow2speed.

So what times are you getting on the 914-6? Considering the weight of the car you might be closer in laptimes to Hank Watts or Jim Paugh, hehe.

Ken

I am looking for a gt3 now. a friend has a gt2 but from what i have read, the gt3 is a better car. When i had the 914-6 on the track is was not a timed even, just a few of us running our cars. Ernie Woods use to own the car, it was in Excellence a few times. the cars weights 2218 lbs and the dyno sheets says 318 hp. its a blast to drive but it likes to go fast, its very on and off type of car. I also have a 73 911 rs clone with a real rs motor in it. just had sportech do a lot of suspension mods to it, had it up highway 9 a few weeks ago. another car that is very driver involved. Love to see your gt3, trade you a drive in the 355 for the Porsche.

What was it that Nicolas Cage said to the Ferrari salesman in Gone in 60 seconds.

We are not judging the car!!!
I love 355's- was one of my dream cars when I was a little younger. I personally like it better than the 360.
I didn't buy a 355 because of the interior, I personally think it looks like a 70's interior. I did not drive or look at an F1.
The judgments I have seem here are that the NSX is better at getting around a race track and has other qualities that the people here like better than the 355.
Nobody said its a better car(??) That's an opinion to be held by each person
360vs355vsNSX
To sit and look at the exterior-- I would rather have a 355
To sit in parked-- I would rather have a NSX.
To drive- at an accelerated pace- on a trip, at the track, - NSX- NSX - NSX
To cruise- A 360 spider hands down.
Opinions are like ????
You cant beat an NSX for quality, driving feedback/excitement, or reliability.

i would agree with most of what you said, however the sound of the ferrari is hands down the best on the road today, so driving fast i would say the ferrari. As far as the interior i just dont see the nsx as better, to much plastic. When i sit in the Ferrari it feels like it was made for me more than any other car i have (i have 10). the driving postion is just right.

No arguments there on sound.
I didn't have the same experience on the interior, again it all comes down to what an individual likes. I sat in a 996 based porche in FL a few years back. It was perfect, just had a problem with the rest of the car. JMO

You said "sound of the ferrari is hands down the best on the road today, so driving fast i would say the ferrari."

I quess thats a big defference in peoples perceptions and definitions.
Driving fast to me means that I am 100% focused on the road ahead and the comunication that my surroundings are giving me, IE problems, shift points, etc.
I dont see room for driving fast and sitting back to enjoy to tone of my exhaust. 100% vs 0% left.

i think sounds is a big part of the driving experiance, what i ment was when the Ferrari is at full song, nothing sounds as nice.

I have heard the 355 is the best sounding ferrari period. I had heard the 360 does not sound as good, however, I have heard the 360 CS and it sounds AMAZING.

agree 100% nothing sounds like a ferrari espeically a 355 w/ straight pipes and tubi.

I like the interior of the 355 over the nsx & 360 more exotic like.

Driving experience is different from built quality and you don't need to own one to know what you have experienced first hand.
