Clarification needed for spectators and fans

Here is a few suggestions that might or might not help.

At the entrance, have somebody collect a fee for each person that comes through the gate and give them a spectator for the day priviledge.
They only get a admission ticket stub to show they have paid to get into the event but have no other privileges.

The registered members all have special name tags with their screen names on it so make sure all the food concessions that are catering to the event only give or sell food to those with the proper tags and matching ID's.

In order to attend any technical seminars or other activities, they must show their special badge.

Only allow spectators on Saturday and or Sunday. Better yet, if you just want to do it for the day, make it on Sunday.

I am sure some of the vendors would love to see other NSX owners who would have not made it out to the entire event, see them on the last day and possible make some potential sales.

Again, these are some of the ideas that I came up with. I am sure that the few NSX owners that would like to attend for the day are not expecting to eat any of the food or take advantage of any situation. We just want to watch the driving event as well as talk to vendors and other NSX owners and check out their cars.

Thanks for listening to us and talking it over amongst yourselves. We all really appreciate it whether it be for this event or for future events.

great idea litespeed...

lets just hope that they become open-minded and take this into consideration even though its last minute preparation.

Yup that's a great idea, almost all my friends in Bay area love NSX and I am sure that they want to check out the meeting/track events.
One of my friends just bought 96 NSX-T this week. :)

Well Litespeeds as it turns out looks like you can get in to see the track events as spectator for $40 - http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23160 - all you have to do is become an NSXCA member.
Sid, you're a great guy and I support your effort in this crusade to a degree, (I don't disagree with the fundamental request to open up to spectators) but I have to say you are fundamentally flawed on this aspect - strike that, you're just plain wrong here. I don't know how you can complain or demand or even make suggestions when you are not even a club member: first & foremost this is a private event, to club members - I just don't understand the lobby when you have not subscribed? That would be like showing up to your private birthday party, where your wife has hired my favorite band & suggesting whats wrong with me & a few friends (number to be determined based on the weather, the mood, what else might be going on - might be just me, but my high school reunion is in town this w/e and there might be 800 of us - just have no idea how many of us will show!) - we're willing to pay something, just because we're fans of the band? I promise we'll behave, won't drink any of the booze or eat the food & won't require any additional resources to cater for us or conversely preserve the sanctity of your personal groups privacy - we'll just be quietly in the background while you do your thing. Sounds a bit ridiculous don't you think???
Now, if the club had chosen to sponsor a public event then thats fine, but how can you complain you aren't invited when you don't even indicate a basic desire to support the club?
Regardless, I think the club has made two wonderful accomodations - they have provided a Friday-only accommodation with a reduced fee & now they have opened up to spectators on Sat & Sun for club members. I whole-heartedly support these deviations but particularly in retaining the restriction to club members - there was no pettiness involved, by still allowing new members to join to take advantage of this new ruling & I hope it encourages non-members to join with this added incentive in addition to other membership benefits.
I hope this gives you the opportunity to enjoy it Sid :D

I'm glad we seem to have come up with a resolution that we can all be happy with.

Let's leave it at that, leave the disagreement in the past, and enjoy the event. It's in less than two weeks!

Hey Ken (D'Ecosse),
I am now a proud member #2003 of the NSXCA and will take Friday off to attend NSXPO. When I started this thread, it was not intended to get out of hand but to simply clarify if anyone could just go and be a spectator, NOT joining in on any of the free lunches, dinners, technical seminars, picture taking, etc. I didn't even know that this was a PRIVATE event. Just thought that if you own an NSX, that you are welcome to join in the fun.

As you know, I run my own business and sometimes it is very hard for me to commit to an extended amount of days because if I don't work, I don't get paid. I just opened a new shop in Fremont where I am needed 4 or 5 days out of the week and it is very hard to take 5 days off to go to a car event. My business partner as well as my wife would not accept that as a reason to take that many days off.

I am very happy, as well as many other NSX owners, that the NSXPO Committee has decided to offer both the Friday only as well as the Saturday and Sunday options. I have since joined the NSXCA just to go to this special event on Friday and possibly on Sunday to watch the track event.

I think my thread started off innocently but with all the comments of other NSX owners, some of whom are members, stating that even though they are members, that they couldn't even go for a few hours unless they paid the full registration struck a nerve with many other NSX owners as well as myself. There is always 2 sides to a coin and it is really hard to judge who's right or who's wrong. I didn't intend this to end up a shouting contest but I am extremely satisfied with the final outcome.

As for your example about a band at a private birthday party, I don't think it quite fits the same scenario. I do understand what you are trying to get across but I disagree that this was a similar situation.

Hope to see all of you at NSXPO!

Hey Sid - welcome to the club!!!!!!!!!
Now your opinions are completely justified - as a member your opinions from the outset would have had a different weight.
Definitely look forward to seeing you up there, it's been a while.
Incidentally, on the party analogy - its not so different surely? My point was it is extremely difficult to plan for an unexpected number of people, some of whom you might potentially have no desire to have present.
Don't be sorry about the thread "getting out of hand" - it certainly is healthy to have exchange like this - it's obviously been popular topic of discussion!

After taking over an hour to read this entire post, I am glad to see that a resolution was reached and we all kissed and made up!! I couldn't make it to Cali, but I 'll see y'all at the Glen in 04'
:D :D :D
