Chameleon NSX - Check it out..

Wow! i just saw the picture of the NSX for sale in Dallas. The paint job is beautiful- If I had my car and the NSX in Dallas stand side by side. Then have 100 people look at it and choose which paint job is better. I wonder what the results would be.

Anyone here like the orangish-chameleon NSX, or prefer the darker bluish Chameleon NSX. ???

Since the thread go so long, it makes it difficult to continue posting our comments, ideas, and opinions. I figured If I started a fresh new post that it would simplify the process.

Someone asked me if the paint job was done only on the exterior of the car. The pictures below will show how every angle of the car was painted to perfection. Of course the paint job is not perfect, but it's almost there. :D

Click on this link to see the paint job inside the hood. It wont let me place the picture on this thred, it says please refrain from posting a picture twice... how does it know that?? lol

nsxtasy,

There are different variations of the chromallusion paint scheme, two have been posted already.

If memory serves me right, I think it was PPG that manufactured the Mystic paint on the Mustang.

What's up!

Kenny--you wouldn't happen to live near Tracy? I've seen a chameleon NSX at the Tracy street races (Grant line area). Let me know if this is you. I was about to purchase an NSX but now am looking to other possibilities.

Ya ... lol... That's me alright.. I went to the street races a long time ago. I never raced anyone since I knew I had no competetion :D Who is this by the way?

Are you out here in East Bay?

Kenny,
My wife was out shopping this Sunday and said she saw a chameleon NSX out our way in the East Bay. Any chance you were in the Livermore, Pleasanton or even Walnut Creek area this weekend? She said the paint on your car looked good - she particularly mentioned that it looked like a quality paint job. I'm sure lots of people would like to see your car in person. You should join us at the next NSXCA Bay Area Chapter lunch next month. Check out the regional section of prime under Northwest.

YEAH I was in the Livermore, Pleasanton area -- what a coincidence, I am glad she saw the car in person and mentioned that it was a quality paint job.

Did she happen to like the car?

where do you live , and is that your red Nsx in your picture profile.

This is interesting one person mentioned they saw my car in Tracy, and your wife saw it Livermore, Pleasanton. wow! my car really must stand out :D

Mickey , that sounds like a good idea to go the bay area for the NSX car show meeting. I would like to go, is there a website, address and when is it.

car gets attention

We live in Livermore. I have a '92 Red/Black, but thats not my car in the profile - its a photo from the stock files.

My wife said she liked your car. I would like to get a close up look myself. Here is the website for the Bay Area chapter. The next meeting is March 6th. We will have it in either Milpitas or Pleasanton. Details will be posted as the date nears. You can go here to stay updated. You can also contact Vytas for more information ([email protected]). If you need more info, email Vytas or PM me.

Kenny,

Just a thought, would you ever consider painting the rims the same chameleon color to match the car? That would even add some more spice to that beautiful attention grabber of yours, making it even more unique! I think that color looks great on the NSX, and possibly on the rims too.
BTW I, along with many others, I also remember your car on e-bay. Infact I remember wondering to myself, why so many of the owners of these extreme-looking NSXs aren't registered on Prime. And what do you know, a while later, you end up registering. Amazing.:)

I wish I knew about this site along time ago. I just happen to run into it when I was searching for floor mats. I am glad I found it, every NSX owner should register for this site.

The part about painting the rims the same paint job.... I never thought about that, I think it would be too extreme, besides when my rim spins it looks AWESOME:D

That is odd. I saw an identical car for sale last year on eBay and it was listed as being in Florida. It was also a 1992 NSX with ivory interior, an identical paint job and even the same exact wheels.

What serial number is your car?

I saw that too...I remember the paint. I am glad that I am not the only one who remembers that car. :)

I am going to take my car to the annual NSX meeting held in San Francisco.
???? What event is this?

I live in Pleasanton incidentally, Mickey - we have a pretty high density here in the tri-valley area.

I painted my targa bar the same color two years ago.
Was very easy to use and covered very well. A little goes a long way. Doesn't pose any difficult application problems at all.
I used about 3 tablespoons of paint to get coverage on the bar and had some left over.
I would be very surprised if you needed a gallon of this paint to do a overall on a car like a mustang, more like two quarts which once reduced would yield a gallon of sprayable material. More than enough IMO.

Kenny,
Simply beautiful. It really stands out. YOU DA MAN!!!
Dont sell it. Its your creation...your baby.
Treasure it. Unique in every way. (C=

Are there other combinations of color-shifting paint, or is the purple and green combination used on the Mustang and on this NSX the only choice?

Many variations on the colour scheme. It was a huge craze in oz the year before last, as every show car had it leading to production cars offering the scheme, ford australia being one. PPG (My previous sponser) as has been mentioned offer some nice colour matches. House of colour (australian) had versions also. I decided against it as it gets old pretty quick though. Pray nobody hits a panel, half the car needs to be resprayed i'm told!Nice job though, it does look awesome in person. Change the wheels to three piece chrome :)

Another chameleon NSX. This one for sale in Dallas. I think I recall some conversation about it in a past thread, but couldn't find it. Looks like it even comes with a lift kit.

This one has been around too -- IIRC, I saw this car in July 2001 -- for sale at the Toy Store in Ft Lauderdale. Its the one with the whole "RM Racing" catalog of add-on parts in it :)

From the eBay auction: "Previous owner states Over $195,000 invested in this project." Must include the original car purchase price of 70K, and the paint job must have cost 90K. Even then, I don't see the remaining mods costing 35K, but I might be wrong. Wagers on what the selling price will be?

that car has been around forever. i remember it was at the NH NSX event at Sunnyside Acura back in 99 I think it was. the owner at that time was the guy who had it painted (somewhere in NH - not by "factory dupont reps") and was telling us what was involved. it did have pretty much every RM mod known to man and was very sharp looking. however there's nothing super special about it, in the NSX market today he'd be lucky to get 40K. what I don't understand is why this car always seems to be for sale.
