I would NOT go off track to eat, the food at GMan is second only to RA on a Big race weekend!!
You might be right, but only because the food at some of the other tracks around the Midwest (notably Grattan and Putnam Park) is downright dreadful.

(Of course, there's another reason to go off track... :D )

I would be up fpr dinner, call my cell @ 847-471-8822

BTW, no chance of me coming in my NSX (not that there was anyway...) I sold it last night!! I have mixed feelings about letting her go.....

Give me a holler when you're ready for dinner. My cell is 913.219.8912

Mark I owe you a couple Brews anyway for that screw up...Where are you staying? I will give you a call.

For those who are thinking about participating but have not yet signed up, I hear there are still a few spaces left...

Especially all of you Chi-town NSX newbies. This track is one of the safest that you will find, and less than 2 hours away. Come and have fun with your car, and meet some of the locals.

And Chuck, this is turning out to be a good ole Midwest gathering!

Great interview of MJ on 2 wheel tuesday tonight. I am glad to see he is using some local tracks (Gingerman and Blackhawk).

I'll be at the Hampton Inn. Look forward to seeing you.
FWIW, CGI Motorsports has negotiated a $65 per night room rate at the Guest House. If your interested, their number is 269-639-9900. Just tell them you're with the CGI group. Most of our students stay there and enjoy the reduced rate and the bench racing BS over their free continental breakfast :D .

I stay no where but The Guest House Inn....I have for years, and have never been dissapointed. I think they changed their name though??? I thought they answered the phone with a different name when I called last week.

They have sometimes called themselves the Lighthouse Inn, sometimes the Guesthouse Inn. I believe that, with their recent expansion to include conference facilities, they are now calling themselves the Lighthouse Inn and Conference Center. The "Lighthouse" is a reference to the architectural feature above the portico:

They have been part of the Guesthouse International Inns and Suites franchise since they opened, and are still on the chain's website; the web page for this specific location is here.

I am not going to be able to make this one, but I will be at Octoberfast.

I expect to see some pics of KGP's car in this thread or otherwise, and preferably some video with the incredible sound I keep hearing about . . .

Got another question. Do any of you NSX owners tape the leading edges of your car in prep for the track? I think that's what some people do, it looks like the blue painting tape that you tape off door jambs and stuff at home before you paint and it's real easy to take off and doesn't leave a film? I've seen some NSX's with the tape on the pop up light areas and sometimes behind the wheel wells and such. Just curious if others do this as well to protect the paint.

The only things I tape are the lights, so they don't break from a rock. It probably isn't as big a deal as on a car with fixed headlights, but still worth the minimal effort and preparation.

Some people use a car bra for these events to limit paint chips, which seems to be a good idea.

I'll be at the Lighthouse (GuestHouse) late Friday nite through Sunday nite.
Instructing with the Audi Club event Sat-Sun, then with CGI on Monday. For those who get there early Sunday afternoon, stop by and say hello.

I don't.

The origins of this are that some clubs require that glass headlights be taped, the idea being that they can shatter and spew glass fragments all over. So some people put it on plastic lenses (which is not necessary for the stated reason) and elsewhere, as much for decoration as for protection. Since our headlights are hidden, and the only lenses are plastic, it's certainly not required.

I don't find myself getting chips on my paint from track use. I do get black rubber marks on the paint from "marbles" (chunks of rubber) getting kicked up, but no paint chips. (The black rubber marks are easily removed with Zymol HD-Cleanse.)

If you're really worried, you can put on a bra, as Ryan notes, or get the paint protection film installed. But I doubt that you need it. Think of it this way, Doug - your car has already been tracked a lot. Do you see a whole lot of paint chips on your front? I doubt it...

I know Ken, although there is a nice dinger on front tip of my spoiler. I'm really impressed by the piece of whatever that managed to swoop over the canoply and impact in that area!

Can anyone tell me when the gate opens at Gingerman Monday. I see the registration is 9- 9.30 a.m just curious when the fun starts.

I will be leaving for the event on the morning of the 13th. I'll be leaving from the downtown area if anyone whats to drive down together. Just post here and we can work out the details. Also this is my first time, If any one can supply directions to the track and how long it might take to get their doing the the speed limit :D that would be great.

TIA,

Looking forward to a great day!
