CGI Track Event - Sept. 13 2004

Just got my seat in tonight!!! The 5-pt goes in tomorrow night! This is my set-up from my old turbo teg.

I have never been to a CGI event, so I do not know how they do it. Usually the organizers get a group of instructors and allow some to pick people they know, and fill in the rest. They will also try to put similar car owners together as well NSX/NSX, Vette/Vette etc. I am sure Ken can enlighten us on how CGI works its event.

Do we choose our instructors or do our instructors choose us???
Neither. The event organizers (Phil and Chuck) assign the students to instructors.

I almost never request specific students; I simply leave it up to them. (Same thing with the BMW CCA events.)

Just a heads up. You don't say if you are installing the same setup on the passenger side. If not, most of the schools won't allow you to participate as you must have the same set up for the instructors as the driver has. We at CGI are more lenient, I'm sure Ken won't mind if he's your instructor ;)

I’ll be there instructing. For those worried about being put in the right run group, don’t worry. If you don’t have any road course experience then you’ll want to be (and you’ll be put) in the novice run group. Once you get the line, flags and passing zones figured out and find that you are blowing the doors of everybody else then you can always ask to be moved into a faster run group.

Most schools are belt specific only NOT seat and belt specific. I do have a brand new 4-pt for the passenger side. I have done BMW for 5 years this way. I will be getting a new set of matching seats in the near future.

I can't wait to see the CGI Radical program at Gingerman. It sounds very promising, a real arrive and drive option.

I take it you are excited as well?

I don't know yet. Probably not, but I want to. Work is a bit hectic right now, but I guess I need to make a decision soon. It may already be too late.

I was at AoB on Thursday, and John was talking about the Radical program, hence my interest when Ken posted a pic.

Sunday the 12th a couple of us should be going through the Chicago area around 3pm on our way to Gingerman and we will be staying at the Guest House Inn. If anyone else is heading that way and want to tag along hey the more the merrier.

Thought you guys (and gals) would like an update. As it stands today, we have 10 NSX's signed up for our September 13th Drivers School .Two other owners that have NSX's are not sure what car they are going to bring (Bring the NSX's). I've also been told a couple others might show up with their NSX's just to watch. Hey Steve, maybe we should make this a midwest event :)

I think I was one of the two who was debating what car to take. I'm now planning on for sure taking my NSX. My Evo needs new tires and there's some life left in them but not enough for a track event. I just ordered new pads and rotors for the NSX so everything will be up to snuff for it. :)

You were one of the two...glad you came to your senses :D

Okay excuse my ignorance, Ken or someone give me the scoop on the Radical. I am seriously thinking of getting one of these, or the Diasio. I know about the cars, just wondering if this one is going to be at Gingerman and in action.

CGI Motorsports has been designated as an official distributor of the Radical. Their SR-3 is being prepped and plans are for it to be running at the event on September 13. You can read more about the car here.

And perhaps even more importantly, CGI and some of the folks w/AoB (unofficially) are going to offer a complete arrive and drive support package for the Radical at some future date, with Gingerman-based parts and staff, as well as nationwide support for those who track their Radicals around the country.

I don't have all of the details, but that was the jist of it from speaking with JV.

As mentioned in another post, our Radical will be at our September 13th event. As a matter of fact, another owner plans to be there with his also. We are going to pick ours up next week. Anyone who wants more information, just private me.

On another note... I'm curious how many of you bring cans of gas with you to an event like this. Is a full tank once you get down to South Haven enough to last you the day?

A: not too many NSX folks... trunk space-challenged crowd here :)

$$ RACE gas is available onsite, and the CITGO and Mobil stations are down the road at Phoenix / 196. Figure getting 10-12 mpg on the track, newbies may get more like 12-15 mpg. If you drive all your sessions, you'll get ~150+ track miles.

Generally, only those who trailer their cars.

Manuel noted the answer; it really depends on how much driving you do. But the gas stations at the interstate are only six miles up the road. If you need more gas, you can go there, no big deal. (My general practice is, if I've used a lot of gas by lunchtime, and I think I'm going to do a lot of driving in the afternoon, I fill up during the lunch hour break.)
