Cambo's '91 Formula Red Refresh Build from Oz

Thanks all! Ball joints didn't have any play at all so replacement wasn't really necessary yet :)

Late last week I finished rebuilding my steering rack. The rack itself was still quite good so I just cleaned out the old grease and applied some new grease, replaced rack ends and tie rod ends and of course the dust boots.

Windscreen should be going in this week sometime! Starting to feel like things are coming together.

One of the smaller details I had to address was the black area on the rear quarter panel where it meets the engine hatch. We didn't paint this part at the time as it would have been a very fiddly masking job and risked causing imperfections in the finished product. So I decided to get it vinyl wrapped in gloss black.

Vinyl applied.

Spent some time on alignment of the passenger door to the rear quarter and got it in place with the B pillar cover and side duct installed. Super happy with the panel fitment!

Oh and how could I forget - reassembled the mirrors! So happy with the results of the CF work done!

awesome...
Thanks Jose! :)
Did the shifter bushings improve the play very much?
Yeah they took out some of the free play that was there so it does feel nicer indeed :)
Did you get the "steering knock"-bushing from that guy in Australia for the passenger side part of the rack?
I didn't - My rack didn't exhibit any of the worn housing symptom at all. My rack has some wear on the rack teeth itself so I will probably replace it completely in future.

You sonofa..... Haha. Great job man. This is how a refresh job should be done!!!

Thank you :D

I think the NSX is a very special car that deserves the opportunity to be made like new again. Hopefully I can go close to achieving that goal. :)

Here's the latest. Got both doors on now and aligned with the rear quarter panels & front fenders. Also got the bootlid / spoiler installed.

Put the passenger sideskirt on, but broke a clip in the process so I've ordered a bunch of new clips before I do the other side.

This is the bootlid & engine vent behind the hatch glass.

Tail lights in!

Wiring hardness secured including retrofit ABS harness, fuse & relay boxes mounted, radiator installed.

Honda must think opening the Passenger door is funny?

Cant wait to see more of this build, such high quality and inspiring!
Thanks :) Glad you're enjoying it!!

So through the week I got the windscreen installed!

Installing genuine Honda windscreen dam (spaces the screen off the body correctly).

That's it for this week. :)

Wow mate, this realy is a nice rebuild

Thanks scammy :) Glad you like it! I am enjoying the process and learning a lot along the way.

So I finally got the rear bumper assembled and on the car.

All new genuine fasteners used. The rubber washers fell apart when removing the old ones so I could have just got those separately but anyhow.

Cleaned up the alloy bracketry that holds the upper and lower parts together.

Glued the number plate surround to the bumper cover as these commonly 'sag' and I didn't want that! Yes I'm using the spare bedroom to assemble car parts... lol

Hey Cambo - nice work fella!

Could you give me the Bosch order numbers for those wiper parts - I had a look on http://au.bosch-automotive-shop.com/ but couldn't find them for the NSX.

Also I noticed a Bosch battery - for the future, what is the Bosch part number on yours?

Thanks in advance.

Great job, thanks for sharing. The bare aluminum looks almost too nice to cover with paint. I wonder if anyone's ever considered the Delorean look on an NSX?!

Sorry it's been so long since an update guys..!

Just been so busy lately.

I got new fender liners from and installed them all. The Yahoo Japan seller must be rather OCD as he supplies not one but TWO sets of gloves with each part.

Got the AC receiver drier and lines mounted up correctly and just need to finish tidying up the other one of the condensors to reinstall them.

Blower fan refresh :-

The blower fan for the air conditioning had 24 years of accumulated dust and filth and needed cleaning. I decided to just completely dismantle it and thoroughly refurbish it.

This is the door that controls fresh / recirc air. It was filthy of course and the seals were perished so fresh air could sneak past when on recirc mode.
