I have been wondering how does a Brand New, off the factory NSX get delivered to the USA Dealers. I know it’s shipped over the Seas and then what? reason i asked is that i just saw a pix of 2 Enzo being shipped from another thread.
Does anyone have Dealer NSX arrival pictures to share???

One is white and the other is red. In any case, they do make them in white, I have seen it.

I know mine came into the port of Long Beach Ca. From there it probably went to Massachusetts to the dealer. I bought it used and had it shipped back to L.A.!
No wonder the color is called Long Beach Blues.

Here's some pictures I took in Spring 1996 at the port in Los Angeles (Long Beach). This is the dock where all the Hondas are unloaded from the ship. Notice that all the NSXs are individually covered, and that they have full protective transit plastic on them. The other cars only have the protective transit coating on the hood, roof, and trunk.

In the photos, you can see that there is what appears to be an uncovered white NSX, but it's actually red, with the full transit coating. In one picture, if you look closely, there are two guys covering it. I watched them drive it over into position and proceed to cover it. I shot these from the deck of a departing cruise ship.

Sorry for the poor quality and small size of the pictures, which is a function of 1996 scanner technology. They looked pretty big on my 13" screen back then! :D If I can find these negatives, I can scan them again in today's resolutions and sizes on my current film scanner.

I have only seen a few colors but never a white. I have seen a red and yellow before in person.

Looks like silver to me too Steve

Those Enzos look like they are being shipped by air cargo! No lowly surface ships for them! The last time I got a quote for air cargo to ship a car across the ocean, it was something like $5000.

One of the enzos IS white as stated above, the were air shiped to Japan.
Ferrari doesn't ship them with the white plastic on the car to any other country but Japan.
The Enzo comes in red, yellow, black, dark blue, white, orange, and silver.
They are building # 400 of 399, that is said to be carbon fiber clear coat.

Nice pic Ben, thanks for sharing it.

Ben, great photos! Especially while departing port on a cruise ship and likely searching for something cold and wet...
Perhaps the vessel is what's called a "ro-ro", meaning roll-on = roll-off vessel, where the units are actually driven on and off.
I have it on good information that Reliable Carriers moves all NSX's from inbound USA port to Acura dealerships across the USA (enclosed, two tiered Kentucky Trailer custom ordered van trailers , approx. $145,000 per unit incl rear "elevator" lift gate). I do not have photos of Reliable unloading at Acura dlrships, but sometime soon I may have a new thread to spin on this topic if I can develop some more computer skills.

like that is going to be of concern with a car costing that much $$$$

Yeah, cost isn't much of a concern, but automakers are in the business to make profit, and they rarely use air cargo to ship their cars to dealers.

Cool great STUFFS!!! nice to know that they give alot of TLC for the NSX to get to USA. but from there,, how does it get to the dealers??? are they loaded with the rest of the Honda cars ona 18 weeler truck? or are the NSX individually shipped via special coverd flat bed truck? any dealers got a pix of an NSX arrival to the lot?

They arrive at the dealer in enclosed transport trucks. I still remember being 18 years old and seeing a new NSX being unloaded from the closed trailer all wrapped in the white transport coating. It is quite a site to see a truckload of them. :D

While in Japan last week, I picked up a Motor Fan magazine from '90 on the NSX. Someday I'll scan it, but there's a pic in there of an NSX being unloaded from an enclosed flatbed single-car truck. When the ramp is out, the front of the truck is lifted by jacks so there's a nice smooth transition to the ground- nothing to scrape on. I'm sure there are other JDM trucks like this. But the cool thing is that the sides of the truck have big clear acrylic windows, and a big NSX logo.

I'm not sure if this was just a concept, or if they really did it this way. And if they did, do they still? Anyway, pretty cool =)
