I'm shopping around for insurance.. not necesarily the cheapest, but the best ones. You know the ones that don't use used parts to fix your sh*t. I can't even believe Allstate did that to me (since when?)

Any suggestions? When you do a search, most come up with horror stories. ON the other hand, people that have good experience don't usually post.

Thanks.

USAA hands down.

fwiw,

a close friend of mine - vet - had been a usaa customer for 30+ years until a couple of months ago when he decided to compare against other providers. he saved a significant amount of money for =+ coverage going through aarp.

sorry, just re-read the op's post. i can't speak to the quality of the replacement parts aarp pays for. there must be an online resource that compares these kinds of things, no?

Most insurance companies have that in their policy. They can use used or aftermarket parts. It's the policy. If you want to use factory stuff, you can pay the difference. Ask for a copy of the policy from the company before signing anything.

If you need help deciphering the language, let me know. I know of one GEICO policy that does not have an exclusion for being on a track for any type of event.

I've heard good things about USAA, but they are for military, and they denied me when I tried to join :) (health conditions..)

What about Metlife & 21st century? Anyone have experience with them..

Although I've not yet had to file a claim with them in terms of rates I found that the Costco members auto insurance through Ameriprise (American Express) to have the best rates by a longshot. Two years ago they refused to insure the NSX but last year they finally accepted it. I save hundreds.

I'm using Haggerty but I don't drive mine daily. I like AAA also.

Volunteer for the military. Think about how much you could save on your insurance with a company that provides superior service.

I've been with State Farm for 15 years. My house and both cars. $408.00 every 6 months for the NSX {full coverage}. Very good rate IMO.

I have my house and cars with USAA. I had been with USAA for over 26 years when I made my first claim. It was for hail damage to my car. USAA totaled my car for less than it was worth. It took a lot of time and effort to fight to received market value. I have since heard the same story from other USAA members.

Mine is only $12 more a year than yours and I have $38K replacement value. BUT I am limited to strictly leisure use and up to 5K miles a year which is fine with me.

Since we're old, our insurance is cheap...

Same here, leisure use only. The way I see it though, anytime I drive it is leisure time for me.

I've been out of the insurance industry for about a year now but here is what my somewhat fuzzy memory can recall...

Body/repair shops are regulated where they have to use a mixture of OEM and aftermarket or refurbished parts (I believe it is somewhere around an 80/20 mix OEM/aftermarket or refurb).

But, in a lot of policies there is a rider a rider you can add that states that 100% OEM parts must be used and the shops must adhere to what the policy states. Yes, it does cost a bit extra and depends on the type of car but for the NSX's, it is worth it. Typically ran around $50-150'ish per 6 months on our policies (Farmers).

I would check with your agent to see if this rider is available with you current policy. If it is not, a PM is on its way to you of an agent I've known for 20 years. She is just off of 24th & 140th in Bellevue and will give you the absolute no BS truth. She was able to increase coverage for my parents and still save them $1k/yr on their policies.

I recently talked to State Farm (who I have always used for my other cars) about switching to them for my NSX policy. State Farm won't even let me get a stated value policy at all. AND the lady couldn't even tell me how much money they'd value it at if it was totalled or stolen. The lady thought that any insurance company allowing you to value your car at whatever amount you want is crazy and couldn't believe anyone would actually do that.

I want to find a company similar to Hagerty but without the use limitations.

i was with state farm for a number of years and i've always had 2 cars, the house and a motorcycle.

i moved and went with travelers and they have been cheaper than state farm.

I am a Farmers agent in Oregon (also licensed in WA) and have my NSX insured with Farmers. I have high limits of liability and reasonable deductibles and pay less than $700 annually. I had a claim last year and had no problem dealing with the company (even before letting the adjuster know I was an agent). I am also appointed with Hagerty and find them to be excellent also (despite the usage limitations). I would advise you to stay with a national, name brand company.

Is there a policy that one can get that acts like a life insurance policy?

Say I have life insurance valued at $100k. If I die, someone gets that $100k. If I lose an arm, I get $25k, etc....

I'm thinking you insure a car for $100k (or whatever stated value) pay the monthly premiums and if anything ever happens to the car, you can part of that to repair it, or if the car is totalled or stolen, you get the $100k.

Stay away from 21st Century if you want service. We would never go back to 21st Century because of what they didn't do when they were covering us while it was 20th Century.:frown: Since then, we've been with State Farm.

Do you need any help with Life? LOL! I'm a district admin/Life Specialist. Worked for FNWL and Districts for the last 10 years. Whose district are you with?

Tom Smith/Christine Fisher in Salem. God, I'd make sweet love to Christine. A girl with crazy humor, red head and a great personality.

Reviving an old thread!

I just did a comparison of Ameriprise through Costco and my Wawanesa apples to apples (actually Ameriprise was bit more generous on some line items), and they came back with almost total $400 less on my two cars - includes the NSX! I asked them to fax it to me.

I can understand $100+/- but $400!

Wawanesa's customer service has been and is still good, and given that they weed out high risk drivers their premiums were low. But I can't figure out a $400 difference. Any opinions?
