You are fogetting one very key factor, the NFL has a playoff system whereas college doesn't.rickysals said:I personally don't care if they won 29 straight games.
This season is all that matters..
lets say my NFL team (Pittsburgh) goes 8-8 this year. BUT they went 15-1 last year... that's 23-9. Last year the Bengals go 8-8 (i think?) and maybe this year they go 12-4. 20-12 for 2 years.
Based on your logic, because in the longrun the Steelers have been better, they should get into the playoffs over the Bengals.

Osiris_x11 said:With playoffs, there would be equality in terms of a fair chance for all to compete towards a National Championship.
However w/ equality comes equity... meaning the spoils would have to be shared! Many universities & conferences are locked into very lucrative TV contracts and sponsorships (ie. Think NY Yankees and their media empire vs. Milwaukee Brewers and, well not much else). Also there is the long enduring conference affiliations w/ certain Bowls, the pay-outs being rather nice. Alot tradition and pageantry w/ the big-wigs & purists.

Geaux Tigers (that is, LSU Tigers)
Congrats, back to #1.akira3d said:Well, I enjoyed returning to campus for Homecoming yesterday, booing along with 92,000 at the Coliseum as the current BCS standings were displayed, and then witnessing the Trojans rout Wazzu...should be interesting to see if this helps shuffle the standings.

I feel the Bayou' Tigers should take this, somewhat comfortably. The Crimson Tide do have a defense capable of taking over a game, however their anemic offense will keep the D' on the field much longer than they should be against a quality opponent such as LSU. It might comedown to defensive scores and mental-mistakes on special teams or breakdowns... giving 'Bama the edge.
FYI, both have beat the Gators!?!
