She's a lovable, cute-so, nutcase. She's like a dog with her fetching, over and over. Yesterday, she had a toy mouse and was having some major issue with her mouth. She acted like she had something caught in her throat, and I thought it was the mouse's tail. I looked in her mouth and didn't see anything. She kept clawing her mouth and finally flung something out. This is what it was:

Aw, my baby lost a tooth. She's getting spayed tomorrow since she'll be 6 months old on March 13th. I'm getting her chipped at the same time.

Haha! I love this thread! I love how you just let your bengal mess up the curtain rod only to think, wait til the guys see this on Prime, haha.

I am a big time cat lover. I feel that they are more similar to my personality in the sense that when I want to be social, I am very social, but I can get along with being alone for extended periods of time just fine as well.

Bengals seem like great cats. I saw a lady at Fashion Island walking her bengal around. I thought that was pretty cool.

RSO- that kitten is so cute! Reminds me of a cat I had growing up.
I currently don't have any pets as we just moved to a new house where big kitties and other wild animals like to play.

Anyone wish they could own a Bobcat? I'd love to go on walks with that thing, haha.

Not exactly, "let her". I didn't want her on that one, knowing that the right end isn't stable, but she didn't ask for my permission. I couldn't reach her to get her down so I decided to take photos, instead. Now, I am keeping a squirt bottle in the kitchen so I can discourage her from going there. She doesn't seem to want to be on that one, anymore. She is always entertaining me. When ever I come home, she'll be a the door and then she'll roll around upside-down, showing me her spotted tummy. I have a harness to take her outside but haven't attempted to fit it on her yet. Maybe when I get her home from the vet tomorrow, I can attempt it while she's dopey.

I've seen bobcats in Wood Canyon, when I've ridden my ElliptiGO there, but not in almost two years. Here are some bobcat photos I took, all on June 19, 2014. There's also a photo of my ElliptiGO, on Santiago Canyon, since most people haven't ever heard of them.

Do you ride the eliptigo down the 133? I used to see some guy doing that when I lived in Aliso.

I've only seen a bobcat once in person too and it was on the asphalt road in Aliso Wood Canyon. Scared me at first as I wasn't sure how he'd react. Beautiful creatures! My last cat was a sandy color with a nice mane!

I don't ride down the 133. I'm normally on the Aliso Creek bike path, from just north of Cook's Corner, to as far as it goes with pavement in Aliso/Wood Canyon (36 miles). Sounds like we both saw the bobcat in the same place. I'll ride Santiago Canyon, too, when I'm energetic enough.

BTW, you are welcome to go to the NSX meet Thursday night at South Coast Acura, in Costa Mesa. Come meet everyone, if you're feeling outgoing. Les, our drive leader, came to one before he ever bought an NSX. Some other people have, too.

An NSX owner walks into a pet store to get charcoal filters for his cat's water fountain. No this isn't a joke but but there is a punchline at the end of this and - he walks out with this:

I've been on the lookout for an exercise buddy for my 15 year old cat for a while now, was targeting a Bengal. Saw a tiny siamese mix w/blue eyes at the local Pet Smart that was just dropped off by a local shelter day before. They pulled her out from the cage and she was all over me and happy to breathe some fresh air. $30 adoption fee later and now I got two. How did that happen??? It looks 6 months old but the card said 6 years based off the vet's opinion, so that pegged it as an oldie and got a low adoption fee. Either way - super friendly and well behaved.

The punchline: Went to clean out the water fountain at the end of the night. Opened the box, and: someone pilfered the foam filters so the box was empty! Failed the one goal I had for that visit!

Anyway, we'll see where this new adventure leads. Thinking of naming her "Shigi," ha ha.

She's a cutie! So, did you go back and tell them your story, and get new filters? That's a great price.

I volunteer at my local Petsmart on Tuesday nights with the adoptable kitties. It always surprises me when one is super affectionate right away.

Looks like my little buddy may have hyperthyroidism. While we have 4 cats, this one is "mine". Had him since he was 2 weeks old and he sits on my lap every night. He's 14 now. The other cats aren't lap cats. Apparently there is a permanent treatment for this with radioactive iodine, but the costs are $1500-2000. Hard to justify for such an old guy who is starting to show his age in other ways. Test results will be in tomorrow. :( very upset.

Warren (named after my dad) has lost 4 lbs, diarrhea, can't get enough to eat or drink, dirty coat, heartbeat irregularities. He was tested for diabetes as well but the vet is leaning toward hyperthyroidism.

Oh, yikes. Sick baby. :frown: I hope the vet finds a problem that is easily dealt with.

Thanks doc. He just got his first insulin dose. Looks like all the cats are going on a wet food only diet. Have to pick up a blood glucose meter tomorrow to try to determine his ideal dose.

well if pet diabetes is anything like humans the reason that uncontrolled diabetics pee alot and look dehydrated is simply a matter of osmosis...the water follows the sugar, and the higher glucose levels in the blood get filtered via the kidneys but too much water is also extracted from the blood as a result.Try not to dose the insulin to correct it quickly but gradually. If your cat does not eat alot on any given day you may have to taper the dose.

Thanks. recommendation was to take measurements over one week then adjust upward if necessary by 1 unit per dose. Monitor for another full week. Adjust by 1. Repeat if necessary.

Oh man, there has to be an easier way to test blood sugar. Trying to learn all this clap trap I just tested myself and what a pain in the butt. There has to be an all in one device where I don't have to try to squeeze a drop of blood out and get it onto a strip.

My 14 y/o cat got real sluggish two summers ago and was diagnosed with diabetes. Been giving him shots every 12 hours using Prozinc. Is $112.50 a bottle from my vet and lasts several months since I'm at 3.25 units for each shot. Syringes are something like $25 for 100. I haven't shopped around for either Prozinc or syringes online - my vet is really good and relatively inexpensive IMO (half the cost of who I was going to previously who really didn't seem to be working too hard to settle in on the right dosage so I went to someone now from a referral) so I just buy from her. Also is good to get her hands on the cat each time and look for things - she'll occasionally clean this or do that for free since I'm there so often, so it works out. Visits for blood sugar checks every 2 months or so run $25 each. She's never once suggested that I check his blood myself at home, so that's pretty intriguing to hear you doing! I'll watch by this thread - curious to hear if you find a good online source for supplies and the price. Good luck, it sure helped my little dude stop being so sluggish and thirsty and a pee maniac!

Have yet to go back to that area of town to trade my empty box for filters!!

I no longer have the kitty (Bella). :) Something really good worked out. My mom lives alone and really enjoys babysitting the family pets when needed but would always refuse any thought of getting a pet. As everyone here knows, whether you live alone or with someone, having an animal moving around and about really adds value to life. So when my mom stopped by and saw that I was segregating the little kitty in the bathroom until the 2 got accustomed to each other, she hated the idea of the bathroom jail, so she insisted on watching over it until I moved 10 blocks away. That was 2 weeks ago and the kitty is officially my mom's new roommate now, they're inseparable, ha ha! All worked out pretty good.

^Sweet! I live alone and love having my 3 kitties for company.

^I had to take a photo of this adoptable cat, at the Petsmart I volunteer at. Some people collect heart rocks. This if the first Heart cat I've ever seen.

Yinzer I tend to do things myself if I feel I can do them as well or better than a professional and can save myself decent $. The vet can't really track the curve, understanding how long it takes for the insulin to peak and to do this several times a day. Then repeating if you need to change the dose. I'd rather be as accurate as possible and just use the vet for periodic follow-ups as unlike your vet it's about $75 if I walk in the door. We need a new vet. Our vet died and somebody bought the business. Same building, very different quality.

We checked our cat's blood glucose several times a day and adjusted the insulin as needed. Luckily we eventually got him off insulin by altering his diet. We still check his sugar occasionally just to be sure.

FYI. The Purina DM wet food was the best we found at helping to control his sugars.
