Advan AVS Model 5's, where are you at?

I was so excited to find screws that fit that I didn't even think about rust. :|

You should call the place where you purchased the screws and ask if the screws are treated to prevent rust.

My new rear tires will be here next week. I got the last pair of star specs in 255/35/18 that tire rack had.

that is going to look KILLLLLLER. better color then the oem silver imo. are your centre caps oem silver or did you get them refinished as well?

I had the centers powdered the same color.

Maybe I'll put it back together and take another pic tonight or tomorrow. Honestly I wasn't sure how the centers would look colored the same as the wheel. I'm still not sure.

Should look fine since the outer rings are colored the same for oem spec (unless u colored the centre portion of the centre caps too)

silver caps with a dark wheel always looks terrible IMHO. You did the right thing.

I rather like the offset center cap color especially when you're taking silver chrome rings against the gunmetal/gray color. It adds dimension to the design and breaks it up a bit. Monochromatic doesn't always work. The good news is beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Let's see how they turn out!

That was my thinking too but I had to do something with them, 2 of the metal rings were all corroded and nasty looking. I was thinking it might be cool to paint them them sebring silver to match the car.

Mine are a little worn out too. I haven't looked to closely but isn't the ring made out of 100% alum? If so, it can be polished out and clear coated over.

Synth - I see what you're saying but still prefer it over the monochromatic look I guess :)

cozmo, this is jimho but painting it body color seems kind of tacky. That's like when people paint their calipers body color. It only works on a Black/Black car or a Red/Red car. I don't think even think it works on Yellow/Yellow even though Brembos come in yellow stock sometimes.

btw.. cozmo, have you considered clear coating your powdercoated wheels? I powdercoated my wheels on my 4x4, satin black and they are water stains on there I will never ever be able to get out. Super durable though so that's a +.

I never considered water spots. I wasn't even sure what this finish was going to look like when I got it back. I'm new to this wheel swapping business.
I'm going to stop thinking about the center caps until I see what they look like. That's going to have to wait though since I need to to go fix some PCs right now to get the money back I just spent getting these refinished. ;)

I do think the silver caps look ehh on my black set..

But I don't seem to mind the contrast on gunmetal... This is the color of my latest 17/18 setup.

black + silver too much of a color contrast the caps will stick out and look ugly.

silver + gunmetal will work fine; as the colors are close and will almost blend nicely together.

chris, these 17/18s will look stunning on your ride. i'm sure it will ride better then the 18/19s as well.

what are the specs/offsets?

i have a feeling we're are going to see quite a few sets of gun metal model 5s in due time.

I think it looks good, especially with the "AVS" and "Advance Vehicle System" appears to match the color of the wheel in the pic(s) below. Its a nice subtle contrast with the silver trim ring of the center cap and the silver screws.

Ok I'm no longer worried about the center caps :P The rings don't really blend in like I was afraid of since they have different angles making the light reflect.

hi guys, sorry about this being my first post. if im required to post an intro please let me know.

Ive been googling and doing some research on the Advan AVS model 5s and it led me to this thread. I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me an approximate appraisal for my set of model 5's.

17x9 +38
18x9.5 +40

they are sprayed black by previous owner and i would probably rate them a 8 out of 10 condition. Minor curb rashes but nothing that cant be refinished up. if i were to sell them as is, how much would i be looking at? Would i be able to get more if i split up the set and sold to different NSX owners looking to match sets? You guys seem to like to run a bigger stagger than most cars. Located in the socal area if that makes a difference. I appreciate all replies. thanks.
