Sig, Nice! Didn't know about your 996tt encounter. How's the car doing? From the sounds of it, must be running pretty good.

Any plans for an exhaust to wake that baby up??? Talk to ya soon!

Running strong. I haven't decided on anything for exhaust as of yet. The only thing I will be doing for sure in that department is removing the cats for more accurate tuning. I can't decide where my money is better spent... exhaust or aftercooler? We'll see.

jw-Any word about September yet?

Sorry for the thread kidnapping.

Well, I have to agree. The NSX is such a great 75% solution. Hopefully Honda will address this in the next version. Porsche has used everything they have learned over the last 35 years of racing to make the 911 better. Since the 911 intro in 1967, they didn't make that much progress by 1977 either. It really wasn't until 1983 with the 911SC that Porsche really started to get it right. It took Porsche 15 years to get start the next step, so maybe the NSX will evolve too.

The nice thing about the Porsche that I hope will happen to the NSX is evolution and not revolution. We will all just have to wait and see, but the Porsche 911 Turbo is good enough for me for now.

Well, I think I am qualified to address this issue since this is my 3rd 911. The 1975 911S was real "old school" and VERY important to drive on the race track so you get used to ACCELERATING when you start to get out of control, it is harder than you think. VERY counter-intuitive. It was a great car. Lots of power and minimal weight. Actually, it has 215 hp but only 2,380lbs, so very similar power to weight as the NSX.

My 1996 Carrera 4S was the last of the air cooled models and another "old school" myth. It was a GREAT! car. I almost bought a 1997 or 1998 Turbo instead since I love this mode so much. There is nothing before 1995 that Porsche has made that even remotely compares to the 993 models. You figure it took them long enough from 1983 to make the next jump... 12 long years.

This lattest Twin Turbo is very much unlike all the old school 911 myths. It is water cooled, it has power steering, it has traction control, it has stability management, etc, etc... and all of it works together so well that driving is nearly as effortless as the NSX.

... only 10x faster.
wink.gif

I was skeptical, but purchased the car without even driving it after seeing the latest reviews and videos. It really is a great car. My only hope is that the NSX will continue this slow and steady migration like the 911 into a classic exotic that finally earns the respect of the general public and motoring press.

Porsche did it, and I think the NSX can too. Only time well tell.

Actually, I was in Europe last year and almost took delivery of a car back then, but I had to overcome a lot of fear and myths about the 911 Turbo to feel comfortable plunking down $128 large on one. But, now I don't regret it at all. It was the 10,000 hp shootout that was the clincher for me. The Autothority 911 came in #2. That was cool. I will also have to check out the BilletDesigns stuff here too.

Yeah, I think this is much more the case here. This car is 0-100 in 9.2 seconds, so you figure that anything in the high 12 seconds is WAY OFF. The 11.90 is a lot closer to what I have seen in person. I spent a lot of time on the race track and some of these guys had really modified NSXs and I just can't imagine any of them holding their own with this car. Even the Ferrari 360s whipped up on the modified NSXs and this new 996TT kicks but on the Ferrari 360 Modena. I don't know, someone with a hightly modified NSX come on down and we will see for ourselves.

EDR, You are quite right. Judging from my rapid trips over VERY familiar public roads around here I can tell you that this car is almost bullet proof. The PSM is INSANE! As many have seen the car is FASTER with it ON! Don't try that with the NSX traction control. The Porsche is the first that I have ever seen to ADD throttle in the event of a spin and start to move power to ALL 4 WHEELS in order to get the car back under control. None of this RETARD THROTTLE crap you get with the NSX. You really have to drive the 996TT FAST to really appreciate it, but when you do, it leaves you wondering why more cars are not this advanced... oh yeah, that is right, THEY ARE NOT A PORSCHE!

Hahaha! Nope. I read about this option too, but some on, I mean really. You have to figure that by the time you get the essential options the price on mine was $121K, so adding $17K and then adding additional luxury tax and sales tax would have driven the price to over $150K. I figured I would just settle for this "starter" Porsche and move up later if I liked it.

Actually, Porsche is thinking of building a version of the Turbo cabrio next year, I might opt for a trade in and opt for the X-50 package on that. I'll keep you posted.

Mine was $121 with various options and accessories. With taxes, etc, the whole thing was just a shade over $128,000. I think it was rounded up to $130K. Really doesn't matter once you get over $115K.

Yep, I sold my 1996 Carerra 4S for $51,250 a while back and noticed that they can be had at Manheim wholesale auction these days for as little as $41,000. Not a bad deal on a REALLY good car. 282 hp, Turbo suspension and brakes. Really good deals out there now.

Thanks for helping to clarify. I have about 8 of the options and will post all detials later if you are all interested. The total purchase price on mine was $121K with options, but with lux tax of almost 2.5K and VA sales tax of 5.5K, total was a bit over $128K.

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you out there on NSXPRIME.COM. I thought I would draw serious fire for even daring to challenge the NSX, even modded ones, with my bone stock 996TT. It looks like may of you know where to draw the line between devotion to the NSX and utter delerium.

Thanks for all the good feedback. I will post pictures soon in one of the off topic areas and use Ken's handy options code summary to select my options.

ill see if you wanta take a 301 hp 99 civic hatchback on the track mister 911tt ? hehe acccually i wouldn't even get close it would be fun tho.. in a track with a best time of 1:12 and i did a 1:35 and a nsx 99 with 1:32 i think i did good! hehe

Allan,
Why don't u just zip it for a second, we were all there at that canyon run in Palomar Mountain run hosted by me 2 weeks ago, there were 15 vehicles all total, and we all witness the NSX BBSC went to head with the 996TT, and even the P turbo admitted how surprised he was at the NSXS capability. For the record, I think that your Lotus and Lambo is a piece of junk for the money, my modify friend's 2002 ZO6 will embarrass the hell out of u, and even he appreciate the NSX's capability. All your car look good, accelerate a bit more aggressive than the NSX, but they can't hold up a damn, Post me that picture when u break in 100,000 in either one of those vehicle, u joker. Get out of this forum and go over to the other forum, please.

degle, anytime you want to try and take on the lotus or the lambo you let me know. neither car will ever hit 100,000 miles as i upgrade all the time. life would be awfully boring having to drive the same car for long periods of time.dont you think? as to your buddies z06, bring it on! how about we get some supercharged nsx's to race my stock lotus and see what happens?
thanksinfobuddyJesus.jpg

now if you want to calm down, i never said that the nsx didnt beat the porsche. i merely stated that i wanted to see a supercharged nsx turn an 11.90@118 with my own eyes, as i did the 911.

as far as the lambo accelerating a bit quicker than an nsx, haha you are sadly mistaken, as i will leave your nsx, supercharged or not, like it was standing still.

Talk is real cheap, save it for the juveniles. You live in Arizona right? One of these days when my car is done, I will make a trip out there and I will bring the NSX with me, I will let you know beforehand, and we are going to do this.

Just for the record. I can buy a 2002 NSX for 88,000 bucks, throw in another 12,000 for modification i.e. BBSC, and I will have a rocket ship, still reliable, and look good doing it. With that, I still save a chunk of money from buying a lambo, or a porsche, and at least I know I am alway gonna be in good companies with the people around me.
