abalone diving in month of june

good to see you guys... thx for bringing the chicken soup and salads! (doug, quite an assortment of salads - ken'll be eating good for a week)

brian, we missed you (and had plenty of ab!) and hope to see you next time - rattlesnake or no ;)

Hay! Good to see you guys as well. Hal, thanks for making all of the arrangements and trucking it over. You're not a bad cook. Soup was tasty Ken. Thanks and thanks for the abalone.

Good grub, good laughs, and great company.

Only problem was Ken wore that damn shirt and Hal and I had to be seen in public with him.

Thanks Guys.

I'd be interested in going ab diving with you guys next time, if you're willing to take a newbie! I'm an accomplished swimmer and a certified advanced open water scuba diver, but I've never been ab diving..

When I was a kid, a friends' dad would go ab diving and I loved eating them - fried with squeezed lemon.. More recently I've had some of the farmed abs at a few restaurants but those guys are tiny!

Josh,

You've met both Ken and Hal and you STILL want to go abalone diving with them? I guess I'll just chalk this up to the power of the taste of abalone.

I was looking on the Internet to see about buying some abalone after our lunch. Found two places close by that sell it and ship it. One is in Avila Beach and the other is in Moro Bay. THE COST IS $95 PER POUND.:eek:

If I were you guys, I'd sell it versus eat it! Thanks again for lunch and laughs.

don't forget these folks, doug:

ken's right about "selling it" - that's a go straight to jail offense, as is using it for barter, etc. hell, each ab's gotta be tagged and listed in a catch record and @ the end of the year, the record must be submitted to CFG.

sell it... buahahahahaha!

Oops! Sorry. I didn't realize it was against the law.

There's also a farm along PCH somewhere between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz - I remember seeing on a drive a while ago, I think it was a farm which sold abalone and also had a restaurant attached serving abalone. Didn't get a chance to stop though.

It'll be good to dive with you Josh. And maybe it'll give Hal something other than bees.
i know, ken: let's talk former brides ;) iirc, josh isn't married (yet) and being seasoned in the ways of love and divorce court(s), we can mentor him a bit.

keep pimpin' me about bees and i'll tell them where you live and let them come over to get their honey back, ken... in fact (in true beek fashion), i may just bundle them up one night and drop them on your doorstep for a bit of "instant karma".

that goes for you to, doug! (i know you're lurking here)

yup.

i'll pull up in the yukon, unload a triple-super hive, dolly it through the front door, then set it down in front of the elevator. when the elevator door opens, i'll gently slip the black nightshade off the hive, roll it in to the elevator and press the button for your floor.

when the door opens on your floor, they'll scent the honey and, well... you get the picture and it's not pretty.

don't make me go there, doug

:eek:Hal, this sounds like you've thought this through!
