You can swap in a 3.2l if you happen to have one laying around. Easiest to just use only the 3.2's block and heads, keeping the earlier ECU (why would you want the OBDII ECU?), wiring harness, injectors (different connectors on earlier vs new cars), throttle body (throttle by wire vs cable actuated), etc, etc. At that point maybe you'll want to swap the 6-speed tranny as well.
As far as the JE pistons, yeah, they cost around $1k for the set, but what about machine shop work, labor and other parts such as gaskets and bearings you will want to swap once you are in there? You can't just drop the motor out of an NSX like you can with a 911....I wish it was that easy.
I would not want to recommend raising the static compression ratio. Too much risk vs. too little gain IMO.
If you are into engine building, try a 3.5 RL crankshaft. Someone told me that you could get a "stroker" NSX motor that way, although I have not confirmed that or have ever seen one.
Ultimately you will find that it's true...it's easier just to sell your earlyer car and buy a '97-up if you want the extra punch of the 3.2 motor.
It's even easier to throw on a supercharger if you are just looking for a few extra ponies.
