I know that this has been done before, but I just wanted to make sure that a 3.0 liter motor could be bored to 3.2, then mated with the 3.0 heads, and still be able to run on the stock 3.0 ECU. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
David G.

The question is WHY?
If you are doing the 3.2 for performance than upgrade your ECU.
If you are doing it because your 3.0 was worn out, up grade your ECU.
Call Chris at SOS and get an AEM or modified ECU.
If you are not raising the comp. ratio and it is done right then the stock fuel system will work fine if everything else is stock.

I suppose you could do anything you like...I'm in the "why would you want to do that" category too.

The other questions that you did not answer: length of time you wanted the engine to last and how much money you wanted to spend (or not).

You will have to resleeve your engine block to have any reliability at all. From what little I know the 3.0 sleeves will disintegrate if you bore them out to a 3.2.

So: yes you can, but it is really bad idea.

It would be a AEBS sleeved block. I figure that if I am going to get a block done by AEBS then I should figure all of my options first. I mainly want to do it so I can get little more torque. I also want to be able to use the stock steel head gaskets that are used on the 3.2 motors as opposed to the organic or whatever the stock 3.0 gaskets are. I want to also put a comptech SC on at some point. I want to use the stock ECU for good ole reliability. Thanks for your input everyone.

Hmmm.... even on paper, it sounds too complicated and troublesome. Why not just throw in the SC first and see how you like it and take it from there?

Just mo, ymmv.

Henry.

If your even gonna crack that bitch open you might as well sleeve it an throw in some forged pistons, the need for speed is addictive and as long as you have the motor out and some play $$$$ you won't be held back from future endeavors.

From my moderate knowledge of ECU's and engine management, the difference in displacement is negligible as far as the additional fuel requirements, so the 3 litre ECU should trim itself out. The injectors in a 3.0 and 3.2 are the same size (240cc or 270cc, I forget, they are pipsqueeks though compared to the big dogs on FI setups) They are just a different type in the OBDII (3.2) ECU, they are saturated, which is essentially a flurry of micro-pulses as oppsed to the peak-hold injectors used by the 3.0.

So anyway , the moral of the story is do whatever you want to the block, upping the displacement to 3.2 is only an additional 6% of air you need to squirt gas in for, that would be similar to running 1 PSI of boost, for which no modification to the ECU or fuel system should be necessary.

Thanks,
I was thinking that the displacement did not matter but was not sure. Appreciate your input. That pretty much answers my questions.

You are welcome, notice my disclaimer of *moderate* knowledge, there are surely a few champions on here that absolutely know for sure, so you may want to wait and see if anyone agrees or knows something contrary before you take it as a for sure thing.

Good Luck!
