2nd Gen Iphone

Does anyone regret getting the 2nd gen iphone 3G? I believe it's and additional $30.00 a month. Still on the fence whether to get it or not? I have a week to decide.

No regrets here. It's not an additional $30 a month. The difference is $10 more a month for data. Data went from $20 to $30. Add $5 more if you match the 200 text messages to match what came with the old data plan.

Cheapest plans.

Old = $39.99voice + $20data = $59.99
New= $39.99voice + $30data + $5 200 text messages = $74.99

$74.99 - $59.99 = $15 , not $30.

My Alpine iDA-X001 head unit has a USB port that connects to my iPhone 3g. It plays the music fine and charges the phone, but makes the phone go into airplane mode, so I would miss calls. I'm just keeping my 8GB nano plugged into the Alpine. I have a Griffin Cigarette Lighter / USB charger if needed for the phone.

Does it not give you the prompt/option to keep airplane mode off? It goes straight to airplane mode without asking you?

IIRC, It prompts you by asking you if you want to continue which will make it go into airplane mode. If you select "yes" the head unit can operate the iPhone to play your music, but it does go into airplane mode. If you select "no" then the head unit ceases to recognize the device. No other options.

Sorry, I was looking at it from a family plan that I already have with At&t without existing data or internet plans. I just have Voice and unlimited text.

I might just order one and have it mailed to my home, since no one has any out there.

What if you just ignore the prompt? By default, airplane mode stays off, and the prompt goes away after a while. Try that.

Just got my. 15 minutes wait at the Apple store and voila, I got a 16 gig one.

Wonderful phone, much better than the crappy Sony/Erickson I had.

Ownage Tool for Firmware 2.0.1 is out already.

1st generation iPhones with firmware 2.0/2.0.1 remain unlocked.

iPhone 3G are able to be jailbroken, but NOT unlocked yet.

Here are a few custom boot/restore screens I made.
