WW Front Spoiler

I put together an installation guide for the skirts which might be helpful for anyone planning the install yourself.
It is really quite do-able as a diy project & certainly can save a few $$$ if you just get them painted professionally.
Thanks to Jonathan for hosting.

WingsWest Side Skirts Installation

p.s. If my measure my stock skirts that are off the car, they measure 70 7/8" - that is measured from the front corner edge where it meets the fender, diagonally extending along in a straight line to where the rear section meets the fender - My WW's measure 71 1/4" (3/8" longer) measured at the same point.

Anyone else got any measurements?

Thanks D'Ecosse looks like a very good write-up. I just recieved my WW 5 piece kit. I'll be taking it to a body shop locally to a guy I know thats had lots of experiance paint NSX's. I try to measure the sides and give you the measurements on mine.

My question to you is, did you install the rear spats? Doesn't anything need to bu cut from the factory rear bumper to make them fit?

Does anyone else have the rears on the car? How are they installed, according to WW instructions they slip on over the rear existing spat?

thanks,

I have an '02+ complete rear valance on mine, so no spats.

They do indeed fit over the original (pre '02) stock valance w/o removing anything - one thing to be particular about however - I have seen several that have it fitted badly such that when viewed from the side, the seams line up OK, but from the rear, the spat is at a slight angle to the horizontal seam between the bumper & lower valance - that looks really bad IMO. The other thing to remember is that if/when you remove the spats, you will have a couple of holes visible in the valance from where the screws go.
(Similarly, but less frequent I have seen front lips mounted where when viewed from the side it is not parallel to the seam between upper & lower bumper halves - Again, it needs to be perfectly parallel to look good)
I have seen these examples on pics on Prime so search through previous picture postings on search for WW & you will see what looks good or not.

p.s. This is a really nice example of a quality job with great alignment - http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8378

Thanks for the good write-up it has been a great help. I've got a very good body shop to paint the pieces for me... but I would also like to know....

Did you?

1) Test fit you pieces drill holes etc.
2) Then paint... wait to dry...
3) Then install?

I figured I could paint first, then install later... I dunno whatever works out best I guess?

As for the rear spats, to insure a close to-perfect fit, I might just remove the rear bumper assembly and under bumper skirt then drill some holes into the underside so the thing doesn't fall off on me.

I don't think the tape will cut it back there... I'll probably loose the spat on the HWY knowing my luck! ,

Thanks! :)

So What Do you think?

Finally got the entire WW kit on. I think it looks amazing! :D Here are some pics during installation. Damn rear spats were a bugger to line up  , I got as close as I possibly could to make them parallel and still look aligned from the side! I'll have more avail on my web site!

Re: How much lower is the front spoiler over OEM

I love the look of the WW spoiler, but I worry about scrapping more. How much lower will it be over OEM?

Its only about 1/4 inch lower than stock, I haven't run into scraping situation yet. My car is also stock height and not lowered!

Do remember it sticks out a couple inches forward, so the odds of running into something are pretty good, time to start driving in and over everything on an angle as not to scrap.

As long as you can accomplish this, it well worth installing it.

Here is one more shot of the final install:

Thanks, it sure looks great. I'll be ordering one very soon.

Thanks! :D

Be sure to check Dali when your ready to purchase one!

I also used a small bead of Urethane beside the double sided tape to ensure a good hold on the OEM bumper lip. I used urethane on every piece especially the rear, just a small bead beside the tape should do it.

Becareful not to get it on the paint as it will take it off your car. Contact cement remover works good to get off any that seeps out. While the urethane is still somewhat still soft. Any good quality automtive urethane should do the job, I use Dow Corning it sets in 20mins (more like 2hours!), and dries hard in 2 days.
