I couldn't wait to get out of Southern California. I lived there for almost 25 years, went to work in Europe for seven years, and then returned to California. What happened? Traffic congestion, smog, cost-of-living, real estate prices, etc., etc.. I had to live there for two years so we could sell our house. What a long two years.

Sorry, but too many places have sunshine and beaches. No thanks.

Yepp you're so right Len... fortunately my wife works 2.5 miles from where we live so she doent even know what that is in the pics...hehehe...

But for me...I work in Glendale so If I leave the house/office at rush hour I'll definitely enjoy the traffic just like in those pics...so I make it a point to leave home/office early to avoid the RUSH HOUR traffic...ummm I remember having the same problem in Mihigan during "RUSH HOUR". ....ohhh by the way my house in Michigan is for sale for about 7 months now even though we lowered
the price to the point that we might end up owing some money to the bank just to get rid of it...:frown: ..I bought it 10 years ago..:frown:

there are people that go their entire lives never seeing a beach and wishing they were in a coastal state. Im more interested in the diversity than the climate. To each their own....although I would love to retire in a little ranch in the woods.

I couldn't agree with you more. We lived in San Francisco during the boom in the late 1990's, and it would take me two hours to go 30 miles to see my clients 30 miles down the peninsula. We also had the house in Santa Barbara at the same time that we returned to after a seven year absence. What a pain.

After living and working in Asia, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and the former Eastern Bloc, I have always thought San Francisco is one of the greatest cities in the world.

Southern California.

Just poking fun.... I lived there for 10 years.
Drove the 91/10/60 parking lots the entire time.
Miss the beaches and warm weather, Actually, I am there so often, it does not feel that we have totally left...

The traffic, I can do without.

I do miss the rain...it's been like 4 months since the last time it rained two days in a row....ahhh, nevermind...rain sucks!!!

It was 85 degrees here today!!!

Global warming anyone????

Yeah I grew up in the bay area and lived in So Cal for 8 years for school. Now Im back in the bay.

Weird thing is I like so cal a lot more! I lived in Irvine and worked in Fountain Valley so the traffic was never much of an issue. I guess if youre closer to LA metro then yeah would suck donkey balls.

For what its worth CA is definitely a place everyone should live for a few years.

Dreaming of retiring in a ranch with 20 dogs and 1 cow, cooking on an open fire and drinking my morning cup o joe while watching the sunrise from my doorway. (cow does not = wife)

Yesss..I agree California is not for everybody...My Uncle move to Anderson, NC 2 years ago and bought a 3000sq ft home on an 2/3 acre lot near the lake for less than $150k.... .except for the high humidity and job loss he loves it there...

too bad you don't have more rain..maybe SoCal wouldn't be ON FIRE right now:eek:  and it's not even summer yet:rolleyes:
This year is dry as hell, but last year was the 2nd rainiest in history down here ( the 1st place mark is from the 1800's I think --who knows how accurate that is ? ). If I'm correct, Seattle suffered severe drought last year, but this year is a 180 degree turn. Having grown up here in So-Cal, I can say that 30 years ago it was probably the best place in the country to live. Tons of open space, mostly empty freeways, less crime, and most people could afford a house. Today, that's all gone, but there are some benefits to the crowding. Number 1,more people means more chicks:biggrin:There's also more culture to experience. Besides London, I think L.A. is the most cosmopolitan city in the world. I'm pretty sure I'll live out my days here ( sometimes I consider retiring to Venezuela ), but if someone asked me what part of California they should visit, I'd say San Francisco w/out hesitation.

I don't think "suffered severe drought" is really accurate..they said you cannot water your lawn for a few days...nobody ran out of water for drinking or bathing or even came close....we had very little snow in the mountains last year and that freaked people out ..but it was never a serious problem.

If LA works for you that's great ..I know I couldn't live there mostly because I don't like Sun/Heat ..and the Crowded conditions would drive me nuts..
