Who is going to be the Vice President?

Here's a quote I got from a co-worker.

I want to share one thing before we all disappear for the weekend. My wife is largely apolitical. She hasn’t voted in probably 15 years. She sees me, the political junkie, as kinda silly for following politics the way I do. Of course, she and I share the same basic principles, it’s just that she doesn’t feel she needs to get involved.

This morning, she IMed me and said, “where can I register to vote?”

If this pattern holds nationwide, we are talking LANDSLIDE.

BTW: Since I'm an unabashed McCain-Palin supporters, although I'm sure I'll get some flack from some of the Obama NSX supporters, here is the store for those now on board: http://store.johnmccain.com/ :)

The window to contribute is very small, so I encourage you to do it! Even if it's $5.000 guys, this is how Obama has been winning....

Spread the word, McCain-Palin 08 is a winning ticket!

 YIKES! I created a monster when I started this thread. It's interesting how much support this thread demonstrates.

The Republican VP pick was all that everyone was talking about in my office today and I left at noon.

I'm still going to study the candidates on their various positions but I'm for sure going to be watching her speech at the RNC if I can stand the rhetoric that long.

<-- watched all of 10 minutes of the entire DNC b/c I couldn't stand constant snipes.

This thread is worthless without vids :)

And if you want to know why John McCain is the best man for America, it's because there's no one else that's willing to serve like him...and put the COUNTRY first..

This may be the only forum on the internet where you can talk about considering a republican for president without getting verbally assaulted.

I like this woman a lot. I already knew about her but have learned more recently. If you sit back with a glass of wine and perhaps a cigar and ponder, this could change everything. The republican party is willing-no excited-at the prospect of a female vice president. Not only that, but the president to be, let's be frank, is not exactly a young duckling, the guy is close to 'old as hell' (no offense anyone here). This isn't just a stunt, everyone knows there is a chance that mccain might not make it and that chance is higher than usual for a president-making this a serious decision.

I'm for neither party and haven't ever voted in a presidential election, but this one is certainly interesting. It's also extremely difficult to criticize the VP pick, as she is more qualified at almost every level to be president then Obama is.

**You guys should read some of the comments on youtube about the vidoes. You can get a good sense of the average goof ball there, here's a good one: "It looks like the Obama Supporters are using the same tactics they used to defeat Hillary, Degrade Women. I say again, here is a woman who has run A Small Business, A City, and A State. Obama has not even run a Taco Bell."

Qualified, accomplished, resume? She'll walk circles around Obama...
-In government for 16 years. Constantly barraged that she's "too inexperienced" for every office she ran and every position she has SHATTERED expecatations.
-90% approval rating. Testament of her abilities. Turned a deficit into a government surplus. Fought corruption on both Replubican and Democrat side.
-Is UNPOPULAR with her Republican party b/c she kicks ass - unlike Obama who does the opposite. "97%" party line voting.. bipartisan my @$$....
-Succesfull mother of 5. While Obama was fighting a BIPA, she had a baby with Down Syndrome and called it a "blessing." An true example of the marvelous capabilities of women - much more than most men!!
-Just so everyone knows, as a Conservative, when looking at her resume we have absolutely NO QUALMS over her being qualified as CIF. If you look at history, most of the female presidents have been SUPERIOR presidents, especially when it comes to foreign affairs. Remember Israelis female PM?
-She'll stare Putin in the eyes and call his bluff.

My support for McCain had been tepid until now.

Palin is an excellent choice. The more I learn about her the more I like her.

I am not bothered one bit about her lack of years of experience. My issues with Obama have nothing to do with his experience or lack thereof. I will vote for Palin (and McCain) because of their positions on the issues, core values and their integrity.

And likewise I will not vote for Obama - Biden because of their positions and questionable decisions, relationships and comments.

LOL, while that is true, he does have some years on him, he has a healthy family, now his mother is, well slightly less of a "young duckling" i have no doubts that mccain will be around for many more years.

BUT, i would not be suprised if in 2012 mccain bows out and passes the torch to palin to run in the 2012 election:smile:

Sure glad McCain didn't drop his notes from the podium and onto the floor today. Could have been a little embarrassing trying to remember her name. The looking down constantly is not going to look reassuring in a head to head debate with Obama. Just a thought but leaving something or someone you love to a person that you have only met once [in this case 350 million people] seems baffling. Do we really believe that this person is the second most qualified Republican in the country! Talk about sip`in coolaid. Then he said " Once you get to know her, your really going to like her." Wonder if this is something he will regret.

As I've reiterated, I'm not demo or repub, but this is a little laughable from my POV. It's a little ballsy to question her credibility, she has great knowledge on energy policy, has ran an entire state, populous as the holy kalifornia or not, while Obama has had a short time as a senator. If you want to be prochoice-so be it, tax the wealthy-so be it, more welfare-so be it, but to question her experience while worshiping Obama is really nothing short of laughable. Obama has an extremely thin resume despite his remarkable speaking abilities and very catchy slogans. Obama has only had 141 working days in the senate if I'm not mistaken and his legislative record is nonexistent, almost literally.

Plenty of things of substance to discuss regarding both sides. Not sure why people stray from that so much on both sides.

she might not be the most qualified person to run the country, but then again neither is OBAMA, a couple years of being with mccain she will be ready for the front lines

the pick is more to "shake" things up, keep up the "maverick" style, and once shes more exposed to the american public i believe alot more people are going to relate to her and her all american family status

I fully expect him to be OK as well. My grand father is nearly 90 years old and still does everything on his own on his farm. He's definitely moving a little slower and more forgetful, but he still knows his math and could probably be a better president then 95% of the guys in congress. He did his time in WWII as a marine sniper and just minds his own business (he's pretty liberal too).

Question, say the 72 year old leaves us between now and the election? Does the nominated v. p. pick a v. p.? Does the process start all over again.
Guess i`m concerned about health and being frail.

That ship has sailed, my friend.........

To world's end?

John McCain just pulled one of the most brilliant political move EVER!!!

Obama, you should have picked Hilary!!!

How about this one, more I know about Obama, more I don't like him, or any one who is associated with him, including Bidan!!!

The Democratic Party will self destruct before the election is over. My popcorns are ready!!!

The position has always been simple:
Republican Party - Drill, Pro Life, Pro Religion, Pro small government, Pro Military, Pro Family, Pro tax cut, Pro Productive members of the society.
Democratic Party - Pro Choice regardless the stage of pregnancy, Pro Taxation, Pro sleeping with the enemy, Pro Hypocrisy!!! Pro making the rules for their own connivence, Pro Gay marriage. Did I mention Pro Taxation?

In all fairness [and reality],

the republicans haven't drilled yet, neither should be pro religion unless it's freedom related as per the constitution, both have expanded the government despite what they've claimed, republicans have supported the military especially during combat (although you could make the argument sending them there in the first place is more detrimental which is arguable), they have consistently more or less cut taxes although for good reason or not expanding the deficit has increased taxes to those who know better, and they do encourage self sufficiency more so then the democrats.

the democrats are pro choice but perhaps beyond what even a nonreligious, just rational human would dictate "fair" [I think the protection of born alive babies is beyond "god given" i.e.] but they are consistent, they not only talk about increasing government but try to rationalize it, they do usually want higher taxes and usually for no good reason (the case for 99% of taxes, not knocking demo's specifically), not sure about the sleeping with the enemy but I'm sure you could come up with some instances.

The stuff that gets me is the little things that are just dumb. Taxing oil companies, even proposing to do so, to lower fuel prices is not only idiotic but it's nothing short of insulting to the average American citizen for assuming them that stupid. If you go on TV and make a bunch of BS promises with BS "reasoning" to support it, go to hell you are just insulting the american public's intelligence.

I am not sure why everyone is going crazy over her as VP...

Most people have never heard of her before today.

Reading about her accomplishments, I haven't seen anything that screams amazing. I don't know why that one video bragged about her owning a sports store or selling sporting goods compared to obama going to law school and working for a law firm...

How does that support her cause?

The only thing that sounded good was her calling out fellow politicians and forcing two to resign and causing sanctions to be imposed on another.

She's also under investigation for abusing her power and having someone fired for not firing her brother-in-law when he was going through a divorce with her sister.

Concerning education, while running for Governor of Alaska and asked about the teaching of creationism in public school science classes, Palin answered that she thought it was healthy for both creationism and evolution to be taught together

And this isn't exactly encouraging.

Freedom of religion--yes.

Religion being integrated into education/government--not according to our founding fathers! I don't even know why they are keeping the modified version of the pledge.

Sahht was dead-on.

some economic considerations... i'm not even going to bring up the important stuff.

I know everyone who works for us will be voting for McCain. I asked them before I expressed my opinion too.

Are you hiring? :) I wish my employer and clients paid me enough to come out ahead on Bush/McCain's plan. :D

I also don't want higher taxes for more $hit that is useless for me.

If Obama gets elected you can kiss your money good bye.

Republican Party - ... Pro tax cut ...
Democratic Party - ... Pro Taxation ... Did I mention Pro Taxation?

Whoa, now I know steveny is doing pretty well financially (I also know he's worked very hard to get where he is). So, his support of McCain from an economic perspective is completely rational.

Right or wrong, I also know for many folks, economic policy is cited as the primary issue in determining support for a given candidate. However, compared to the rest of you, I had no idea I was so poor. I mean, my parents, sister, cousins, uncles, aunts, friends, coworkers, managers, directors, professors, business owners... almost none of them would come out ahead on McCain's plan. Almost all of us earn less than $600,000 / year.

If you, your family members, coworkers, employees, or friends supporting McCain for economic reasons, I can only assume it's because of an annual income that well exceeds half million per year - otherwise, it's a vote against your own economic interest.

The position has always been simple:
Republican Party - ... Pro Family
Democratic Party - ... Pro Hypocrisy... Pro Gay marriage.

I think you got it backwards...

Bob Allen (R), Florida House of Representatives, co-chair of Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign in, arrested for offering $20 to perform sexual acts on an undercover police officer. Not a woman officer, but a male officer.

Mark Foley (R), US House of Representatives emailed and IM'd sexual explicit messages to teenage congressional pages. Not girl pages, but boy pages.

Robert Somma (R), Federal Judge rear-ended another motorist in his Benz after a visit to bar. Not a regular old bar, but a gay bar. Was wearing black women’s cocktail dress, fishnet stockings and high heels; had difficulty locating his drivers license in his purse.

Larry Craig (R), US House of Representatives for lewd conduct in a mens bathroom at an airport. Not lewd conduct with a chick, but lewd conduct with a dude.

Glenn Murphy Jr. (R), National Chairman of the Young Republicans for getting drunk at a party and performing unwanted oral sex on another party-goer. As you might have guessed: said party-goer was not a hot girl, but some guy.

Republicans sure do have more sex scandals and it's curious how few of them involve females.

Republican Party - Pro small government ...

The facts don't agree with the party propoganda...

Republican Party - Pro Religion

Well, at least you got this one right - provided your religion is the same as their religion. They even want it in your classroom in place of science - something Palin supports in her home state. Just like Dover or Kansas. Does she really wish to bring this type of embarrassment upon herself?
