Who here plays an instrument?

Proficient drummer as well. I'm currently in lessons again at The Music Institute here in Dubai. Lesson tonight! Yay!

For those drummers out there...who's your fav?

Drums for 28 years, some very basic guitar and vocals. Now my 4 year old is picking up drums and keyboards pretty quickly.

i like to dabble. i pretty much play any instrument you put in front of me but lately ive been getting into remixing songs and stuff. my old band played a few dates on the warped tour, but thats the most notable thing ive done with music. heres my purevolume for my solo stuff. it ranges from remixes, techno songs, classical songs to metal.

nsx2tall likes this!

I played electric and string bass and recorded and/or played with many artists of renown. From singers famous in the 40's to country and rock stars of later years.
Some were huge stars in their time and though most of their stars have faded their names and places in music history are solid.
I also worked as a backup/background singer, producer and arranger on many record and jingle dates as well.

Now who's gonna be the wise guy and ask "what's a record?"

I no longer play except when I absolutely need to exorcise a melody or song out of my head and do so by playing it.

Are you Carol Kay?

Before: piano and keyboard, but haven't play much the last 10 years other than duets with my kids.
Now: guitar (hero that is). Does that count?

Robr - your son rocks! Watch his kick pedal timing...clever for such a young age.

Thanks, he is definitely a drummer. He practices every day a couple of times a day. He's still a bit young to try to force good habits upon him, but I just try to remind him of a few things here and there and if I don't see him practice them from time to time, I just remind him. I mention it because you brought up bass drum which he tends to play continually on 1 & 3 no matter what else he's doing. I remind him from time to time to change it up so he's doing 1, 1&2, 1, 1&2 or various other patterns. He has them down pretty well when he thinks about it, but his natural tendency is to sound like a marching band all the time :). He also has some basic syncopated beats down which he figured out himself (and now that I think about it, he's playing the bass on just the 1 for that).

Watching his hand movements he should have no problem learning fills!!! Its interesting what can be picked up as some basic patterns still catch me out. But the cool part is you can always add a quick fill to cover...haha! Ya...I meant to play that way honestly...

I've played guitar for about 13 years now. Really slacking on playing lately, stupid carpal tunnel is making it very difficult to play for anything more than 30 minutes.

I currently have just and Ibanez RG, Schector Omen 6, and some cheap acoustic. In the past, I've owned a Les Paul, Paul Reed Smith, and a couple other cheap acoustics.

Also, in HS I played piano... wish I still knew how, it was fun.
