What made you decide on the NSX?

If I lived in a big city, I could see having two. I would have a 2002 6-speed and a 2002 auto...depending on where I had to go and what the traffic was like..

Of course, I would supercharge them both :)

Yes. I would like to have one of the following to round out my collection.

1.) '91 Silver/Ivory NSX (5-speed)

2.) '92 Silver/Black NSX (5-speed)

3.) '97 Blue/Black NSX COUPE (6-speed)

4.) '97 Blue/Black NSX-T (6-speed)

Wow, are you the president of Tire Rack  ? I wouldn't mind having 3 of the NSX, but cashflow immediately halts that idea. How many other cars do you have?

I will add one reason that I haven't seen mentioned yet... the ability to fit a relatively tall person.

I have always had a thing for the NSX, dating back to highschool, when it debuted, but never thought about owning one. A little over three years ago I saw a Sebring Silver NSX on a local exotic dealer's show room floor. I was in 'Sports Car Shopping Mode" at the time, so I checked it out. For the next few weeks a drive many other cars, none of which impressed me in the way the NSX did/does, and none fit me like it does either.

At 6'5", I can't even shut the door while sitting in the S2K, other cars didn't adjust right in the seat or steering to even allow me to drive them, the NSX worked for me without a single mod.

I have always like the look, but I have enjoyed it even more since I get to see it every day, honestly, I don't even really long for more power, I enjoyed driving it today as much as I did when I first got it.

Well, this is a rather interesting topic... Ive enjoyed reading every reply so far...

Otherwise, I should say that because Im in the car business, I have the opportunity to own and drive many cars. Being a car enthusiast, I have been stuck on BMWs for many years and am still a big enthusiast, HOWEVER, I came across the opportunity to buy an NSX a short while back...

And so the story goes... this is one of the most unbelievable cars I have ever owned and driven. The only thing that I regret is selling the car. I try not to hold on to these cars too long so I decided to sell the car to hop into a Supra TT BPU +++ because this was a "rare opportunity." And although it truly was a rare opportunity to own a such a supra, I sold the car because I wanted to get back into an NSX.

I will say that the M3 and the M5 are also awesome cars to drive, the NSX is just a very different car with a very different purpose.

I was probably one of the biggest skeptics when it comes to the NSX. Ive seen them before but for some reason, I just couldn't coax myself into liking it because..... well....... its a honda.... I mean, dont get me wrong, its not that i have anything against honda, but honda makes economy cars, not exotics.... Needless to say, the NSX is just unbelievable. I can not express how anxious I am to get back into one. Even my brother, which has been a die hard bmw enthusiast agrees... I let him take the NSX out for a drive; when he came back, the first thing out of his mouth was, " I take back every bad thing I have ever said about the NSX..." And although I will always be a BMW enthusiast, the NSX is just "something else"... You just cant find anything that car that you dont like...

After a Toyota MR-2 SC it was the best upgrade (and after a 2000 Eclipse GT I found out I wasn't satisfied with a GT instead of a sports car).

Plus, it's hard to find an MR automatic :)

It was a choice between the NSX or a Porsche.
Simple. There was no choice. :D

Is that because in the original pulp script, mr. wolf drove a porsche and not the NSX?

long story with lots of ramblings- sorry.

I was in my senior yr. in college when i first saw the NSX. It was luv at first site. However, the logical side me kept saying a 300zx tt has 300 hp and looks pretty good, and is almost 1/2 the price. why would you pay more for less H.P?

fast forward 12 years to spring of 2003(talk about delayed gratification). I have owned sporty cars in the past 12 years, but never a true sports car. I am doing well professionally, wife is happy, so I decide to reward myself and finally fulfill my dream of owning a sports car. I debate for months(my wife says years) about what to get.

I shorten the list to 993, or boxster S. Didn't like the looks of 996. I looked at a M3 and IMHO is a fast sports coupe but not a sports car. the z06 would be great choice, but don't care for the notchback looks, the interior, and the c6 will be out in less than a yr. I don't really like porsches, but i thought a mid or rear engine RWD car would be fun to drive. The 300zx tt was nice, but long gone from my wish list. I like the s2000, but i didn't luv it. As you can see I was really confused.

The thought of looking at a NSX didn't even enter my mind. I think I was waiting for the next gen nsx with 400+hp and $60k pricetag.:D Also, i was initially planning on using the car as a daily driver and the NSX is a exotic, aluminun is expensive to repair, insurance would be high, etc, etc.

I posted my dilemna to acuramdx.org(had a 2001 MDX). one poster by the name of NSXBill from atlanta mentioned I should check out the NSX. I thought about it and posted that they are awesome cars, definetly one of my dream cars, but not daily drivers. I mean if i get a dent in a boxster, who cares, If i get a dent in a NSX i would be beside myself(not sure what that phrase means but it sounds good at 2:48 in the morning).

here is a LINK to the thread on acuramdx.org.

Out of curiosty, I check out autotrader ads to see what nsx's go for. I was flabbergasted when I realized that a NSX is within my budget. I talked to my wife, and she said, "As much as you dream about cars, why not go ahead and get one of your dream cars. why would you settle for something else". Damn that woman is smart. Within hours I was emailing, calling, and checking carfaxes on many NSX's around the country.

4 wks later I drove up to Tulsa Oklahoma and picked up my 1998 NSX-T with 17/18" SSR GT1, RM CAI, and exhaust.:D :D :D

moral of the story- don't settle in life, get the car of your dream. For ME- its the NSX.:)

thanks for reading this long post.:)

When I saw the prototype in a 1989 magazine, all I could think was "Wow!" At the time, I was was really into the previous generation Supra Turbo. After seeing the NSX for the first time, I never again thought about the Supra.

Well, I didn't think much of it, because I was still a student at the time, and while the spirit was willing, wallet was weak.

A few years passed, and as time went on, enthusiasm for the NSX grew. Around 1992, the decision was made that some day, I would definitely have to own one. So, starting from then, I slowly saved my pennies, and continued lived like a student for several years after I entered the work world in the name of building up the NSX fund until I could get a '97+ T.

Then, I drove the NSX for the first time in 1999. It was my friend's 1998 Kaiser Silver T, and after that first drive, I couldn't wait any longer, and decided to forgo the later car.

Within 4 months, I had a '92 Coupe, and in the days after I picked it up, there was no wiping the silly grin off my face.

Unfortunately, I just recently sold the '92 because of the high cost of bringing it with me on my overseas assignment. Definitely sticker shock when I saw my available choices and their prices here. So, no NSX for the time being.

Sometimes, I find myself daydreaming about and longing for the sound of 8000RPM behind the firewall. :(

You can bet upon my return, I'll be looking at '97+ T's again. :D

I'm In Love

In 1999 my brother-in-law was a finanace manager with an Acura dealership. He knew I was in the market for a new car. One day he calls me and says..."You won't believe the deal we got going on NSX's...$5,000 down and $599 per month...you've got to drive this thing". Never having driven one before, he offers to bring one by my office to test drive. He arrives minutes later with a new 99' silver NSX-T, top off...it has 13 iles on the speedo. When we got back from the test drive, it had 69 miles on it and he knew he was in trouble.

Did I get it? No! I told him I needed to check with my wife first and I'd get back to him in the morning. Big mistake. The next morning I call first thing and tell him...YES. He tells me...TOO LATE! GONE!

Well, I ended up getting a new 99' BMW 540i instead and have been very happy with it for 4 years. So happy that I still own it and plan on keeping it for some time.

But I've never forgotten that test drive that almost got my brother-in-law fired. 3 weeks ago I fulfilled that dream and bought my first NSX...a red/black 2000...WITH MY WIFE'S BLESSING, OF COURSE. I'm in love!...with my wife and the NSX.

TimzX : that's a great story!!! for a second my heart sunk when u said it was gone & u bought a BMW. That is a really really romantic story... u eventually got an NSX and still kept ur wife. :D

I've had mine two weeks.

1. Easy as hell to see over the dash!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. Super reliable!!!!!!
3. Don't see them everyday in Missouri. This is vette country!
4. Mr. wolf in Pulp Fiction had one!!!
5. Last the is the big. The ultimate sleeper when you put the key in it sounds like my girlfriends civic.:D
6. I heard ben beckerts last year and saw everybody's in st.Louis.

truly an engineering marvel. I have lots of respect for a 290hp v-6!! I driven vettes, vipers, bmw's ( the m3 and m5 are super nice though.) and ferrari's.

IMO,this is the only daily driver that people can't pronounce:D

nss? nxs? xxx?nesx? mxs? :)

Some of my friends (that tell me I am just driving I high class honda and should get a Ford Lightening or Camaro SS) Yes, these are fellow cops...Makes me wonder why I am a cop...they all say "so how is your NRX" or "you still drive that NXF?"

I think they do it on purpose

Or they are just stupid:o

Of course the people that respect the car (even without having one) always get it right " N S X ":D

Fellow Cops?

You should tell them that they are in the wrong departmnent, where exotic cars (hand-made, mid-engined, gorgeous, reliable...) don't really mix with unreliable, ugly and slower domestic. Trust me, SS is slower in stock form.

I've owned sports cars since I was old enough to drive. Most were exciting and costly. I recently owned a '93 RX7. Great car when not being repaired. I replaced 1 engine, 2 turbos, 2 transmissions, and countless other parts. Fast-- very; Great handling-- perhaps the best I've experienced. Too much of a hastle vs. fun factor.

As a kid, I raced go carts. I liked sitting low and watching the road disappear beneath me with an unmatched view of the road ahead. In 1988 I bought an '86 MR2. Great visibility and great mid-engine handling. I imagined one day owning a car that had that same view out the front-- no hood-- and the feel of a mid-engine. I bought a '91 MR2 Turbo-- faster than the '86, but the steering was too over-boosted for my taste.

At the New York City Auto Show, I think it was 1990 or 1991, I saw an NSX. The price was around $60K. This was one of the most beautiful car I'd seen in years. This was the adult go-cart I was looking for. 11 years later I own a Black/Black '91. I just moved to New Mexico last week and had the car shipped here. With hiway speeds in access of 75mph and smooth and twisty roads, my love affair with this car has heightened, like a second honeymoon.

Since acquiring my NSX, I've upgraded the exhaust with a Taitec Parallel, replaced the original stereo, replaced two sets of tires, and changed the oil religiously at 1500 miles. That's it! What other car can you buy used for under $30,000 that can give you so much pleasure for so little money? You do the math.

No only is the NSX the most reliable car I've every owned, but I have to say, it does attract attention-- not that there's anything wrong with that. Just writing this, brought a smile to my face. I think I'll go for a drive.
