What car bothers you most for a race?

Hey, I'm just curious, what car or cars do you all most encounter to street race? I've noticed that I'm bothered by Camaro's the most. Had an SS the other day egg me on til i pulled on him. Just up to the speed limit of course. The funny thing was at the next light I asked him why it took all 8 of his cylinders to keep up. :D
Then tonight I wasn't in the mood and a Z-28 felt the need to chirp them in 2nd gear as he went by....
Just to state, I don't condone street racing, but it is fun to zip up to the speed limit, which is awesome for this car in first and second gear.
So who's bothering the rest of you?

Any damn car that pulls up to me or nearly kills others on the street to try to race bothers me.

I hate street racing but am known to be heavy footed from time to time.

Funny thing is - it is often the biggest POS that want to race - mini vans, neons, geo whatever they are, old and falling apart pontiacs, 1/2 rusted pickup trucks, etc.

And it is always when you are in a hurry but have a million things on your mind or found a fun stretch of road and some maniac comes screaming up to bet with his life that he can keep up.

Oh well - part of the deal. This is why I have to keep going to the track. This is where the smack talking ends and the boys are seperated from the men IMO.

That's too funny..... But just wait til a blown v-8 geo metro takes you by surprise!

ditto on mustangs...pretty much all models.

Mustangs, with a T/A or Camero mixed in every once and a while.

I like to draw a comparison to the above mentioned cars as bowel movements w/the Mustangs being regular and the later 2 cars as irregular movements. Yes nice cars do exist in these makes but I'm only attacked by the POS models.

I'll second (or third, or fourth) the Mustang comments, and also ditto on the f-body guys on occasion. One of the dumbest things I've ever done in a car happened after being challenged by two women in a newer Cobra. Now, I pretty much ignore them, or ask them what they'd do with their fast straight-line car when they get to a turn in the road.

Or, the approved solution for me is to invite them to the next local SCCA Autocross. Usually, all I'll get after telling them that is a blank stare.

All the beat-up cars and trucks alway wanted to race. Why? Can we all just communicate like normal people. Don't blame me when I don't want to talk to you or looking your way.

My experience has been different; rarely has a mustang owner tried to race me, it's mostly the camaro/fbird boys that try to kill themselves (by street racing) around here.

It's probably just me but I find any Honda/Acura challenges annoying. You just don't go out of your way and "try" to put down the flagship car of your own brand, that's just wrong :o

Japanese bikes.

So fun to smoke them in curves taken at more than 220 km/h
( 135 mph ).

When he caught me later at stoplight he gave me thumbs up.

Nice from a biker!

It was the only time I raced with a bike because ususally I follow the following behavior code:

Rule number 1:

Never race with bikers

because they are crazy enough to kill themselves just to prove they are faster than you

and also because they actually are in straightline :D

Rule number 2:

If you can't resist sometime to ignore rule number 1 then do it where there is curves and the biker isn't to your inside...

I must confess that some Impreza also tried to race me.

No problem with the one that was stock but the other one was faster than me ( Rally replica @ 350 hp ).

The most:

4 cylinder imports (SE-Rs, Si's, Integras, civic hatches)...Actually, I usually get appreciative comments and then a challenge to race...but I rarely take it.

The car that actually TRIES to race me the most: CORVETTES!!!! They ALL try to race me!

Alot of pick-ups try as well...sometimes I wonder if they're joking though...

Actully, or maybe just that i dont take my NSX out as often, i notice: with NSX people dont try to race me as often. They do drive up next to me and look at my car, then drive away. that is about it. Lots of attention, from kids to gentlemen well in their advanced age. :) and yes ~~ladies too

the only time that ppl tried to race my nsx,, were some stupid kids in a supra tt.. those damn supras ricer..

On the other hand, when i drive my supra tt ;), people constantly line up just want to race, day and nite, anyone car with 4 wheels, sometimes 2 wheelers too. And some oare really head and shoulder above their fella annoying boy racers. They will gang up on you on the freeway, having one car block in front of you, to allow his fellow boy racer line up next to you, and this front "pace car" would change lane and the guy line up next to you would floor it... It is actually scary, the first time that happen, i thought it was some kinda pro car jackers..

sometimes, i do get pretty good one though (when I was back in SJ, CA) some other exotic car would pick on you.. eg RX7,300Z, Viper RT10, Viper GTS, Porsche 911 turbo, Z06, Ferrari 355, and .. NSX..

I used to have a Yahama R6.. Honestly, if you race a 600 cc (or more) bike, you have no prayer. They can do 0-60 mph under 3.7 sec, and 1/4 miles under 11.5 sec. EASILY. Just look at the insane weight to power ratio. And with modern sticker tires, bike can actually outcorner cars (NSX) too, but it does take a lot of skill.. The bikers that wants to race you are normally not as good (at least they havent realized it yet), yes, when you see one, avoid them.. for pig sake..

i'd have to agree with the points regarding racing a bike. i highly question ppl who say they can beat a 600cc bike in a line with their street stories. after having seen with my own eyes my friend on his cbr600 rip a 12.7sec 1/4mile at the track, i was impressed. his friend who's more experienced, got on the same bike and rippeda 12.0 flat at 125mph and my mouth dropped.

bikes do taunt you from time to time. on rolling runs they are fun to play with but accels so quickly. they're all very cool guys and 99% of the time gives me thumbup or nods...class.
