Would you like a ride ... or would you like to borrow an NSX? I'm sure we can find a way of getting you there

Can I borrow MY OLD NSX ????
We will see what happens tomorrow, possibly might find the part.
No worries yet.
I have the F-350 but damn it is hard on fuel and not much fun to drive,LOL !!!
Is Lesley going Pam or are you on your own?

Don't bring the F350 unless you plan to tow up Keith's boat! I don't know if he is still planning to come. Lesley may be joining us on Saturday night but she will bring her Supra (and probably her boyfriend) I presume. We'll be in touch!

So, where and when are the Lower Mainland people planning on getting together to head up to Kelowna on Friday? I need to plan my Ferry travel accordingly...

... and after a catastrophic timing chain tensioner failure on our rally car, it looks like I'll have a fair bit of free time this weekend up in Kelowna

stacy - give me a call , I will bring the door pieces up (after installing them!) j/k! - told you porsche was junk! haha!

Can we agree on a Talkabout channel and privacy code that we all can use.
I know nothing about these units, but just bought the 89.00 pair of units from Wal-Mart.
I bought the Motorola Talkabout 2-way radios model t8500R.
Up to 29 km range.
22 channels each with 121 privacy codes.
So someone with knowledge chime in and decide on like
Channel 19 and code 91, if that is the way it works.
Please
Thanks
Trev
It appears these are not on the Canadian website but the Usa website

AFAIK, the privacy codes are just to weed out incoming traffic.

If you listen to whatever channel on zero, you hear all that is going on on that channel. If you listen to whatever channel on one of the privacy codes, you only hear what goes out from other units on that code.

I dont think its encryption and I dont think it affects outgoing broadcasts, just incoming.

Thats my understanding.

ok, so Lets agree on channel 19 to begin with.
This is a full 1.0 watt channel.
I have read that people with units that don't have the Interference Eliminator Code would not be able to talk to us if we set up a code such as 91.
So perhaps we should run our codes at 0, so as not to eliminate anyone.
Or we just do it unless someone says they don't have this feature.

I asked Brent or Tim to post this info, since I don't know what is across the street for the olympic park, like an esso or tims.
I suggested we meet between 8.00 and 8.30.
and leave at 8.30 on the nose if people are there or not.
We can always catch up on the way in the next few hours.
9.00 for me is too late, and if we agree to like 7.30 that is good too, or whatever.
I'm in, all in.

It will be easy to roll as a group in alberta, but in b.c. at times i know we will separate. Figure it out and lets do it.

The Manteo is right at the water's edge.

We too (kevin and julie) are at the Manteo for at least Friday and Saturday night. Cell we an be reached on is 7806999936 (yes Trev you will have another # to learn). I really like the idea of the Peach Land car show and karting sounds great as long as we can get there! Some friends of ours are coming to Kelowna as well and if the moon and stars align properly the new Mastercraft Boat will be behind their pick-up. Anybody up for a BBQ at the lake with maybe some watersports and a pleasant evening cruise? From the Manteos pictures they certainly aren't far from the water!

I have four Radio Shack 5 watt business band radios and set them up to be used with the NSXCA radios. The frequency they use is 464.55 (freq 2) CTCSS is turned off. I will charge these dinosaurs and bring them along.

The Penticton Speedway is not a problem for the NSX - done it many times. The road up is paved and the parking lot is not. But it's fairly level and my lowered car has never had an issue. Avoid long-grasses and hot cats just in case. The oval racing is fun. It's not a Hit-To-Pass night but it's decent racing up close in any case.

Re staying at Knox Mtn: A reserved spot is great, but the event can get a bit tedious if you're there all day, especially if it's hot. It sounds like there will be enough of us to maybe have an NSX presence all day, with some cars coming and some going as people's chosen itinerary dictates. Personally about 3 hours of Knox Mtn is about all I can take at one time, but I wouldn't miss it either.

Personally I will be at the Blossom Run in Summerland on Saturday morning after breakfast. If you are/ever were/wanna be a hot rodder/customizer it is something to see and not far off. It's not a large event and you can park really close.

World of Wheels at Peachland is also choice and a much larger event. $12 to park seems a bit nasty, but perhaps worth it. Do we need to arrive as a group as well as leave as one? It sounds as though if we're in the event that we can't leave until 3:00 pm. That might not suit everyone. There are lots of cars to see but some might want to get back to Knox Mtn before 3:00 pm. Depending on the time you arrive, you don't usually have to walk 5 miles.

Also: Take Heed: The RCMP in Peachland are always out in force at the event looking for missing licence plates, inappropriate lighting, seatbelts and the like. They WILL stop you.

For all you out-of-towners, the main roads in and around the entire Okanagan are big RCMP ticket territory. Back off when anywhere near town, any town and any highway within donut range of town. There are lots of less-well travelled roads to explore, but the main routes are NOT among them.

Also, for anyone coming through Banff, Golden, Revelstoke, Salmon Arm be aware. That stretch of the Trans-Canada is also big radar territory and regularly enforced.

My Itinerary
Friday: Drive via Hwy 3 (not Coq), Check In, Clean Cars, Eat, Relax
Saturday: Breakfast, Blossom Run, Knox Mtn, dinner, Speedway
Sunday: Breakfast, World Of Wheels, Knox Mtn/Karting, Dinner, Movie
Monday: Breakfast, 97C to Merritt, Hwy 8 Spences Bridge, Hwy 1 Lytton, Hwy 12 Lillooet, Duffy Lake Road to Mt Currie then Pemberton, Whistler, Vancouver.

I will be carrying my daughter's cell:604 314 3415, but don't call before Friday.

My two-bits.

I am planning on a wine tour on Saturday, I planned to do the Peachland world of wheels of Sunday. The reason being is I spoke to the organizer of the world of wheels and he will set aside parking spaces IN TOWN for us because if you aren't in the event you are parked 5 miles outside of town due to the large # of vehicles in the city that is closed off to those who don't have a spot reserved. He is willing to allow us in for $12 per vehicle and we can collectively leave as a group at anytime after 3pm. That might be a good time to head for some go-karting that i have lined up at westside go-karts and then a bbq at some location (porpoise you mentioned a spot). I'm trying to clarify the Penticton speedway location as being doable for our cars. I heard that the road into the speedway isn't the best, so it may rule out any chance of us going there for racing on saturday or sunday. I will have a rough itinerary posted hopefully by tonight. My cell is 250-318-0422 and I will be staying at the Manteo.

The units I bought or others might have are only in the 462.xxxx range.
So I guess we won't be talking to you guys.
My channel 19 will be on 462.6500 MHz.
Thanks

Sorry guys. Been working hard to wrap up all the 'blue jobs' prior to departure so that the family doesn't miss me so much. :)

I suggest we meet at the McDonalds/PetroCanada parking lot vs. the ESSO. There is nothing else around the ESSO whereas there is a Donut shop, McD's, Denny's, and two gas stations at the other. I also suggest everyone be there ready to depart for 8:30am. IF you are a little bit later you will have to catch up. If everyone gets there for 7:54-8:00am we can go through the contact particulars and confirm route/stops. JMO
