Updates on 2021 builds

Wow, I didn't download the video but just from the screen cap the PMC looks EMPTY. There was definitely more activity when I was there, which can't be good for Acura...

Definitely saw more people standing around in your video with a few other NSXs. May be it was really early or late in the day? What's interesting is that I believe they have production spots taken through mid July when I checked with the dealer and I believe there is 20-30 slots each month.

Given the NSX has struggled to hit double-digit sales most months (at least for the U.S. market, which historically made up most of the sales anyway), it's interesting that they've filled 20-30 slots per month through July. Some of those could be PMC edition RDXs, I suppose. Or it could be that the chip shortage has dropped monthly production drastically, and "all build slots" is far less than 20-30 per month. Without a source inside the PMC, I guess we'll never know!

The important thing is that the dyno is one of the last steps in the production of your beautiful NSX so you should be enjoying it soon!

I think two things will drive higher than average NSX sales for the summer and fall: (1) semiconductors becoming more available; and (2) the good press on the NSX lately.

But has the press really been any more positive lately than it has been from the start? And are there really many buyers out there, five model years in, for whom a magazine article or YouTube review tips them off the fence and to buy?

Thanks for the video

Are you the bioinformatics guy at Harvard (no good parking around there, I used to live in Brookline) or the eye care guy in Needham?

Hey Bricks and Bio,

No worries, I hear my car should be delivered with the week. I’m neither haha, I see I have a few namesakes in the area. I’m the Supply Chain guy in Somerville.

Are you still located in the area?

Perhaps the current frothy stock market may helps along with fears of paying more cap gain taxes later? YOLO buy now and pay later :D

I went 0 for 2 there

I moved to Chicago 13+ years ago for a job change

I typically come back once a year for Labor Day to meet new tenants

Chicago has a much larger selection of Indian dining for when I am Jonesing for my Samosas and Saag Paneer

Haha all good! Let’s grab beers next Labor Day. Agreed the Indian food scene in Boston is limited at best :(.

Just a few days out till delivery so excited!

My go to place was India Pavilion in Central Square

Are you getting the car from the dealership in Allston?

That place is still great! I’m getting it from Acura in Framingham. My sales rep was super nice and awesome. If anyone’s in the market DM me and I’ll share his contact info.

While it’s a little further the price was right and the experience great. Acura of Boston in Allston didn’t take me seriously and wouldn’t help with setting up a test drive. Said they wanted to see the cash first. Their loss.

I agree, CP. Sometimes I'd rather pay a little more and be treated with respect. Good news is my local dealer just stop bugging me when I asked for discount.

The Framingham store has been around a long time

That was the first place I saw a Gen 1 NSX in a showroom

When I bought my 04 TL in Allston I found it funny that the sales person had a note pinned up in his cube reminding him that the customer is expecting a luxury car buying experience

I'm with you, no respect, no business from me

you should drop by the Boston dealer in your new car ...

Corey is one of those folks you like to see progressing in his career

He was genuinely excited about the product and was all about earning my business and doing whatever he could, including getting his GM involved along the way.

He picked me up from work (2 hours away) on delivery day. He told me that techs from their other dealerships had come over to see the car and he had to tell them no when they asked for the keys so they could sit in the car. He even asked if it was ok with me if they drove it across the street to put gas in it (Acura had been pretty specific about the cars not being driven by anyone but the PPI tech prior to delivery). My understanding is that he and the GM washed the car themselves.

They had the car professionally photographed, provided me with a framed picture at delivery, the car was featured in a local magazine, he follows up every year to see how my experience has been and he thanked me for the referral.

When I drove off, they had assembled a large chunk of their staff to wave goodbye.

From my experience Zimbrick is a well run family business. I was lucky to find a similar situation in Alderson Lexus in Lubbock,TX where I bought my LC 500 convertible.

Wow - that's an amazing story and I am really looking forward to working with them. I'll have to remind them to not allow test drives etc and to keep the delivery miles minimal.

What's reasonable mileage upon new delivery? I've seen new NC1 deliver with 4 miles when they picked up on youtube.

Also, do they require car washing (for inspections) or can I wash when I get home? I don't want to risk getting swirl marks.

My car had 3 or 4 miles on it at delivery

Just let them know up front what you do and don't want done up front and I have to believe they will accomodate your asks

I would guide to look carefully at the transaction paperwork

The finance guy miswrote a digit regarding my license plate number on the registration and I had to go into the IL DMV to sort it out when I wanted to change to a vanity plate

Hey all, the car has arrived in MA this morning :). I just went to take a look at it and it looks amazing. Should be in my driveway by mid-week. They drove it 2 miles to fill up the tank and make sure everything was working. They said they don’t wash or wax it before delivery as the paint takes 60 days to cure but the dealership financing guy kept trying to push PPF and ceramic coatings immediately. Very odd to me, but I get they are trying to make their money.

Thanks all! I know there’s another thread on insurance but mostly focused on USAA (which I don’t qualify for). I currently have GEICO and while they cover it they are overpriced for someone with a clean record. I’m shopping around across majors insurers and have found some companies don’t even have the NSX listed as an insurable vehicle.

Would greatly appreciate any recommendations on who you guys are using and what rates have looked like annually, if you’re willing to share.
