unofficial interior shots thread (post your interior shots!)

I know exactly what you mean, when I get my interior redone, I am getting those redone so they lay flat and not all pleated/wrinkled. I think it might just be an age thing, I think that look is more associated with the luxury cars of the time vs the sports cars where flat would of seem more sleek/streamlined. Just my $.02.

How would you go about getting those flattened out? Would you need a different door card or just need the material laid flat?

Yes! You nailed it. Flat/Streamlined is a good description, The pleated/wrinkled looks out of place especially when I see people ignore that part when upgrading seats, steering wheel/etc.

The one thing I don't like about older NSX's is the leather on the door panels. They look kinda "sloppy" if that makes any sense...

i agree totally. that's one thing i want to swap out on my nsx! i see the fabric stuff out in the classifieds but it's a shame that i can't just buy replacement panels so i can just slap in

That is awsome, do you have anymore pics I checked that flickr link with fantastic Photos. Who did the work?

=g=

I'll see if i can scrounge up more pics. I was lucky enough to purchase it this way actually. A fellow in Vancouver had it done at an upholstery shop. Turned out amazing. Only place where you can see a wrinkle in the fabric was on the glove box :)

No you use the same door card, it's just how you install the material. I was going to get my interior redone this past October but some other more important stuff came up so it will have to wait:frown:

That said, having pulled the inserts before I think you just need to pull the material you lay down smooth over the card. I was going to have an professional place do my upholstery do it, when I talked to them they didn't see any issues with it, as long as the cards were in fact removable, which they are.

The door cards are an easy DIYer. Using Industrial adhesive (glue) and applying leather/pleather/alcantara/tweed/velvet. Some tools to help can be utilized IE: Steamer or heat gun/blow dryer etc.

I agree but they weren't going to charge me for it since they were going to do my seats.

A lot of really nice Interiors! Makes me feel my 100% stock interior will no longer cut it.

That being said, stock is 1,000,000,000 times better than some I have seen on this thread.

nothing fancy but it works....

You guys are so right about the wrinkled versus tight look. I never thought about it before until I saw panels on an NSX-R out in Japan last month, and I was wondering why the door panels looked so good. The doors look so much better when the fabric is flattened out.

You can just get your exisiting ones recovered, either by yourself or have an upholstery place do it. That's my plan, as well as matching the arm rest.

I'll have to get some of my pics up...

I replaced all the leather panels with 2000+ flattened perforated leather panels, door handle grip with perforated leather grip, arm rest (fake leather) with real leather to match, glove box (fake leather) with real leather as well as the drivers bolster panel under the steering wheel (which surrounds the key) and the door sill fake leather with real leather to match.

I also updated the parking brake leather as well. The seats are the only OEM leather left... it feels so much more updated. It's the small things like that make a subtle but significant impact!
