Damn!!....I hate when these guys screw facts up.......
The A8 wasn't the first use of an Aluminum space frame in a production car, we all know who used it first!! Actually there appears to be no mention of the NSX anywhere.

Jadkar,

I'm stumped, who could that be, and on which car in particular ? You're not implying that the NSX is such a car? Or do you mean the Gallardo?

The NSX has an aluminum space frame, and it came out in 1990,1991. The A8 came out much later, I think 1995 if my memory serves me right. The NSX was the first mass produced car that was made almost entirely of aluminum.

If you consider the NSX a "mass produced" car. I think most people would argue the NSX fell into the "exotic" category so although it was a big deal it was the first almost all-aluminum car to hit production, it was not available to the masses.

The A8 isn't really much more attainable, but has more of a "normal car" air about it.

Regardless, they still screwed up. Honda sold well over 5,000 units since production started, that is by definition "mass-produced" The NSX was available to the masses, anyone could drop by an Acura dealer and pick one up. It wasn't like the Porsche Carrera GT, in which they are making a certain amount and are already "sold out"

Anyway, it's no big deal, I just hate when our car doesn't get the recognition it deserves.:):)

No they did not. The A8 was/is the first mass produced car to use an aluminum space frame. The NSX, whether you consider it mass produced or not, is not a space frame design, as pointed out in the original post on this thread.

Since when has the NSX an aluminum space frame?
I always thought it has an aluminum monocoque.....

BTW The Audi 100 was the first mass production car with an all aluminum chassis. I think it was in the mid eighties.
