I've been reading some of the ways NSX owners have been dealing with traffic tickets through legal means and I decided to try it.

I went to www.motorist.org and looked up an attorney that deals specifically with traffic tickets. I called them and explained that I wanted to see if they can knock it down into something else so that I can avoid having points on my record. They wanted $1,200!

My best bet now is to go to court and hope that the officer don't show. Sigh....

I'm going to beg for traffic school but I doubt they'll give it to me. I am 10 days shy from the 18 month required time span when I got the ticket. Son of a b*!

Any other options? Anyone know of any attorney I can go through?

Have you looked at ticketassassin.com? There are some good ideas on there that dont require an attorney.

Thanks to my daughter and once myself this last year I have had plenty of experience in tickets. I got my forst ticket in over 20 years this year for going 70 in a 55 in my wife's SUV. Going to Athens GA for a bulldog game with all the flags, magnets and stuff you can have. Police must have been a Tech fan or a gator. Wouldn't even talk to me at all. My daughter has received 4 tickets this year and only one went towards her license. I got mine knocked down also. My advice is first of GO TO COURT. Most courts will knock the ticket downas long as you pay the fine and are polite and ask them to knock it down below the place where you would get points. My daughter had one for 98 in a 70 and she didn't even get the fine as long as she did a defensive driving school (cost $75 and 3 hours of her weekend). The others were less (51 in a 35) and (53 in a 35). Again plead guilty and asked and the judge knocked them down. The most recent was 85 in a 55 and that was knocked down to 20 over. She did get points for that one (3). So overall she has done well except that I have dropped the hammer to slow down or pull her car. She is 19 and needs to lift her foot. She had some excuses for some of them (she was followed by 3 guys on the highway and they kept pulling up on her bumper and then backing off and then coming back up she pulled into a service station and they pulled in behind her so she took off again and they followed she was in the boondocks and had no reception. She had the chance to pass some cars and put them a couple of cars back and was caught passing the second car. She explained to the police and was even able to point out the car but he didn't want to hear it) The two at 53 and 51 over were at two places near home where they recently changed a divided highway that was 50 down to 35 and she has been used to the old limit. They got her on both ends where the changes occurred. The middle area of the strech of highway is still 50 just the two ends changed where the change didn't used to occur until the divided portion ended.

Thanks for the advice. My ticket isn't for speeding though. He pulled me over for "not yielding after a green arrow for oncoming traffic." It's one of those intersections where you can wait in the middle with a green light after your right of way expires (green arrow).

Interesting, you say to plead guilty while ticket assassin says adamantly NOT to plead guilty.

Couple of questions?

1. Did you get you last ticket in the same county?
If you didn't receive the tickets i nthe same county you may still be eligiable for TS.2.

Have you asked for an extension? If not call the court and ask for an extension. Then when you go to court you will be past your 18 month limit and no problem.

Sometimes you can make it inconvenient for the officer to show up at trial.

The ticket will tell you which court to report to; that will be a court convenient
for the officer. You can have the case moved to the court at the county seat,
if you live or work closer to that court. See California Vehicle Code § 40502(b).

Nolo Press used to have a good book about tickets, that explained (among
other things) how to get the venue changed. It's been a while since I looked
at their current edition(s), so I don't know if they still cover that.

No. Last ticket was on July 2004 in san luis obispo.
This ticket is in Alhambra.

I thought the full 18 months applies from the date of the last ticket to the date of this ticket? Does it matter what day the court date is?

Wow, $1200 is real steep! I usually just look throught the yellow pages for an attorney that specializes in traffic cases, usually runs $150-$300 with good results.

I know! That's what i thought. Something didn't sound right when they gave me that quote.
