Will the TPS from a 1995 fit a 1991 (Acura changed the throttle body in 1995 but can't find if they changed the sensor)?

Is the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) the same as the Throttle Angle Sensor?

TIA

I believe the Throttle Position Sensor is different to the Throttle Angle Sensor. The TPS is on the rear-facing side of the throttle body and connected to the throttle butterfly inside the throttle body; the TAS is on the front-facing side and connected to the external throttle linkage. Not sure if you can use the newer parts on the older cars.

Actually, no. I continue to research this and the Throttle Angle Sensor is the same part as the Throttle Positioning Sensor. The sensor you refer to, on the front of the throttle body, is the Accelerator Pedal Angle Sensor.

The TPS is just a potentiometer and could very well be the same on both the 1991 and 1995> throttle bodies, but I can't find any info. or anyone that can clarify that.

The 1991 thru 1994 throttle body parts have become hard to source. Through most dealers they are only able to be gotten by purchasing the entire TB at around $1400, if they can even get one. A TPS for a 1995> can be bought for around $20 :).

Thanks for the reply. I'll continue my pursuit.

Oh, ok. Actually. I just bought a TPS for my '91 and, based on the info I found on 'prime, I bought this one: http://www.bloxracing.com/data-sheets/TPSfitment.pdf . The fitment guide says it's for '95 to '05 but several people said they've used it on earlier cars. I haven't fitted it yet, but it does look identical. Good luck.

Would you let me know if it works and how much it costs?
TIA

I've bought and returned a couple TPS's all labeled 95 -05. The newer DBW one's gear/arm turns the opposite way that the 91-94 do. A few other company that I've contacted to physically check which way the gear turns all replied with the generic "they all turn the same way" and stops there. I've given up lately. Good luck to you.

Just buy an aftermatket throttlebody. same thing happen to me and i have to order the whole throttlebody for the TPS for the 1994 and below. thats if you are going to upgrade it anyways.
